We should go as soon as we can. He is literally being tortured every moment we don't go. It's just that, well, us going and dying leaves him tortured forever...but there will come a point in the very near future where we don't need to plan more and can just go.
True, but I think exhausting all the options before we go is preferred, we got a week and I am willing to risk his sanity a little if we can prevent Halla death or the mission failure, and Ginnungagap is a dangerous place to underestimated. we got a 2 more days at least of questions and tasks, and we might be able to create an item or push a skill to rough if needed in the extra days beside.

I mean... a light wouldn't help at all. If we're going to take the river that emanates light - and I don't see why we wouldn't, since it was the one we were recommended to take when asking about Ginnungagap's terrain - then a disposable light source wouldn't help at all if an elder Abyssling is attracted. I highly doubt they'll go after the small, disposable light source over the entire river giving off light.

Although this is only if we take the light-emanating Elivagar. I could be proven wrong about it being the best one to take, since we haven't actually researcheed the Elivagar yet. I doubt it though.

Uh, tortured? What? He's not being tortured... Pedantic, I know, but he's sequestered in the dark, lonely void of Ginnungagap. Which is certainly a horrible thing since he has no fylgja to keep him compa

Purchasing something that produces light (Hugr (Silver-Tongue): 5x1, 4x4, 3x1, 2x1, 1x5)1+1(First Impressions)+3(Frenzy)=5 Successes
Oooof, damn. Dice is cooking something after the Threaded Elephant? Color me terrified.
Steinarr is silent for a long time as a light frown slowly slips across his face. He's not happy, but... He sighs and lets his head fall. "I can't stop you, so I'll wish you luck. Just come home safe, alright?"
....We gotta make up with him for worrying him so much, after we return...
How does taking some farming lessons sounds?
also, did the Seeress or anyone mentioned how long we are likely to spent searching Aki in Ginnungagap? can we safely go on the last day and be sure we will return in the same day or is there need for a safety margin?
Thats a good question!
Timey-winey bullshits in other realms is standard too, so that's also a possible danger.
How long does it glow?
Is it a use and its used up thing, or is it rechargeable (like letting the sun shine on it, or funnel Orth into it or whatever)
And another good one!
Hopefully, it shines as long as it was shaken recently... but better safe than sorry, yeah.
You can, if you so desired
Can we also ask the dwarves?

I mean, complete sensory deprivation is a form of torture if it lasts long enough. We've been told he'll suffer permanent psychological damage in only seven days...I think anything that causes permanent psychological damage in that time frame qualifies as torture.

Uh, yeah, I said that. He's not being kept in there by an outside force/no one is inflicting it on him, though, so it's not torture.

We have so many actions we need to take in the next few turns. So many.

-Talk to Solrun, begin Seer training.
-Talk to Steinarr, maybe learn more about farming.
-Talk to Hasvir and his family about how they're doing and if the feud is really dead
-Talk with Wolfwind about things and maybe his son about getting combat training (may be combined with the Hasvir thing, maybe not)
-Rune-up our new Armband (probably a Strength-booster)
-Fight with the Ducklings against the Lurkalings.
-Clear out our Troll-Men infestation.
-Deal with the remaining bandits (or get someone else to do it...the latter might be combined with the 'talk to Wolfwind' thing).
-Buy new livestock to get our farm going again (requires clearing out Troll-Men).
-Spar with Gabriel (this is the lowest priority of these, but it's on the list)

I would describe being trapped in a pit being constantly burned as torture even if nobody is actively inflicting it on you. This seems to fit a similar definition.

That's what I just said? I think our definitions of torture are different.
Isolation ward of 15+ days should be completely banned, isolation can amount to torture according to the UN.
And this is worse. This not only keeps him from other people, it completely deprives him of all senses.

Article:
Indefinite and prolonged solitary confinement in excess of 15 days should also be subject to an absolute prohibition, he added, citing scientific studies that have established that some lasting mental damage is caused after a few days of social isolation.

"Considering the severe mental pain or suffering solitary confinement may cause, it can amount to torture or cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment when used as a punishment, during pre-trial detention, indefinitely or for a prolonged period, for persons with mental disabilities or juveniles," he warned.

Oh, and see that "or juveniles"?
Aki is a minor.

He absolutely is being tortured by that.

torture
noun

  1. the action or practice of inflicting severe pain or suffering on someone as a punishment or in order to force them to do or say something.
    "the torture of political prisoners"

Admittedly, when Deadman said 'torture', I thought he literally meant that Aki was being tortured by someone. But he's not.

The dwarves reaction to the Lurkalings using sunlight weapons implied they do not have such weapons.
And we have been told next time we talk to them they are going to fight the Lurkalings and we can come along. I want more preparation before that.

Yeah, maybe not vastly more, but at least full repairs on our armor and that new arm-ring at a minimum.

Could we ask Blackhand about Sigmundr? I recall asking him if his father had Odr, and Imperial's response was 'ask him this in an update'. Admittedly, it's not high priority at all, but it sounds like it'd give us some information on Odr. Barring that, some information on our family at the very least.

It'll be useful later on even after this.

We were told not to underprepare, and that hints to me that we shouldn't go at the first possible opportunity, let's take one more day to get our shit together and then go.

That's not an action (talking with Blackhand never has been), so sure.

It'll be useful later on even after this.

I'm pretty sure it'll also be available a lot more cheaply if we take time and shop around/wait for additional merchants to come to town.
