Drengskapr is our reputation is it not? Its basically how well regraded we are by the community no?

Then in theory we could get so trusted and well regarded that we don't need evidence to issue a challenge at Horra as we'll be so trusted that our world will be believed.

Now, doubt we could get that much but this also means that so long as our drengskapr is high we won't need rock solid evidence that Horra did something bad against us but only something plausible enough.

Generally yes.

Then in theory we could get so trusted and well regarded that we don't need evidence to issue a challenge at Horra as we'll be so trusted that our world will be believed.

Eh. He's family, I suspect no amount would be enough to actually make the accusation stick without evidence.

Now, doubt we could get that much but this also means that so long as our drengskapr is high we won't need rock solid evidence that Horra did something bad against us but only something plausible enough.

This, however, is probably true. Publicly accusing him with evidence is likely some sort of opposed social contest, and our Drengskapr adds successes to those.

Honestly you got to keep in mind that Horra is not well liked by the valley except for his descendants. For most it is an obligation they would rather do away with. High drengskapr honestly would make it easier for us just not to the realm of no evidence but the realm of minimal evidence.

Basically the jarl and other relatives will be happy to see him exposed

Remember, Deep Rooted Ties is effectively a perfect Defense. Watertight Evidence is required to even try to dislodge him, Drengskapr just makes capitalizing on that easier.

Depends what you mean by watertight. The Seeress said finding where he practices his necromancy would do, so it doesn't need to be 'witnesses other than us caught him in the act' kind of watertight, just pretty good. Drengskapr probably helps in that circumstance.

I doubt it'll quite be that easy, but yeah, Drengskapr doesn't enable anything, it just makes being believed easier by giving automatic successes.

I think you're, exaggerating a little it isn't even anywhere near a perfect defense. It's a defense from someone coming and shanking you without a good and valid reason.

I mean, the Seeress is the person in literally the best position to know, and she thinks it'll work so I'd bet good money she's right. The difficulty is in finding the place in the first place which is probably pretty high since it's magically concealed from other magic at the very least and Horra's a sneaky bastard.

It's better than that. It covers even many good and valid reasons...like, if he weren't related to everyone and still as unpopular as he clearly is, our current reasons would likely be enough. But it's not actually perfect, but it is pretty good.

I think the effectiveness of Deep Rooted Ties was augmented by Folkmar being kind of a toxic jerk. The raid was supposed to be his big debute but then we had to go around 1v1ing priests, calling shots, and recruiting huskarls. When an opportunity came up to pull the rug out from under us he took it.

Also. I wouldn't be surprised if Horra was more than just a pawn to the enemy. Not necessarily a major piece but something more like a knight or bishop I guess. Steiner though is at least a rook and a good value trade for the Enemy.

I think it's less that Folkmarr is an asshole (though he is a bit), and more that he's an overly dramatic 16 year old hopped up on sagas focusing on the tragedy of inevitable enmity based on our families not getting along. Like, per stuff Imperial Fister said he's thinking of his life as a story and playing a bit too hard into the expected tropes. Which isn't necessarily completely wrong given how we think Norse Cultivation works, but it results in blind spots and weird behavior.

But yes, I do think that his reaction to Deep Rooted Ties was much more extreme than average and indeed stuff Imperial Fister said afterwards backs that up. I'm just disagreeing slightly on the reasons.

Yeah who would have thought that guy checking out the just married girl (who is deeply in love with her husband) would be kind of a cunt.

In fairness, I'm not sure if he was aware we were married during the Raid Trials. It's a large part of the reason I suggested we spend time with Abjorn rather than him the first Raid Turn, and that when we first talked with him thereafter we made sure Abjorn was there. He didn't actually flirt after that.

Also does Folkmar have any kennings?

Manetaker. For killing a lion and, well, wearing its mane.

I think Folkmarr sees us as a rival for stealing one of his felag as a hirdman right from under his nose, which, to be fair, we totally did do, and are indeed low-key seeking to set ourselves up as a rival Jarl if we can work the boon. I imagine he wants to rule over the valley when his status is secure enough (not clear on the distinction between Headman and Jarl here - is the Headman a Jarl? If not, does a Jarl claim the valley?). And a powerful, charismatic warrior who's stealing followers from him is a direct threat.

Good to know! Is it worthwhile putting my Bonus Die there then as added insurance or is it mostly covered by the current Research plan? Doing the Triple Weaving and poking around the Empty Space if the gate is too tough?
I don't completely understand what you mean by this.
On Horra: Could we try having our Owl track Horra down instead of trying to hunt down where he hid his things from Seergaze? This would be faster than trying to scout all possible Seergaze-blocked location. But more dangerous. If we do this, some way to cloak our Fylgja would be helpful.
You could, yes. Something like having your fylgja follow Horra would do it.
Just some clarity here - When Halla manifested Saemd + Virthing in this way, was there a physical manifestation of them, or did they.. simply not appear (physically)?
They didn't appear physically... sort of.
How 'long' was Halla able to maintain her hold on her Frami? Looks like pretty long if 6 whole hours passed just like that.
As long as Halla maintains her focus, she can maintain her hold on her Aspects.
@Imperial Fister can we only do one of the three, and is that per turn or per year? I was originally thinking that each was only once per year but we could as many in one turn as we had the resources for, was that wrong?
You get one per winter turn (so three a Winter). I'm planning on limiting the max you can give/sacrifice to 1 a turn, tbh. This turn is grandfathered in, but for future note.
@Imperial Fister is it ok to write poetry in french? (With translation of course)
Sure!
I was thinking of writing about the talk with the knight at the manor from the perspective of the squire. Would it even increase Orthsirr, or only grant reward dice?
Poetry only increases orthstirr when written according to the Skaldic rules.
Let's look at our journal. My annotations in Red.
I'll fix that when I get a chance, thanks.

I'm calling the vote in an hour and a half, to give people time to do stuff and for me to, you know, take care of some things that need doing before I can get down to writing.

Like wash all this damn soot and ash off me.

By the way, I wonder if we can use runes to get around the "small power" issue. Some sort of orthstirr focusing device, like the manacles, but without nid.

Maybe an inscription on an armlet like "Triumph scorned for father's praise". The meaning is that sometimes, an acknowledgment (ie a small amount of orthstirr) from the right person (a father being an example) could have more meaning (ie, be more effective) than the adulation of a crowd at a triumph (a large amount of orthstirr).

So, if I'm interpreting correctly, we can only do one of the three (sacrifice, charity, or feast) with people each turn, and in future it will be limited to one point per turn for the first two? Understood...though sacrifice is so much better than the other options they're gonna be a hard sell to not use it significantly more than the others.

Does this turn being grandfathered in mean we can do two options, or just that we can do one option three times? Basically, do I need to change the current plan?

When I've talked about how forge work is more mentally taxing than it is physically, I'm talking from a place of experience.

Part of my job is to make art from iron in a forge. If you know how to hold the hammer correctly and your anvil is heavy enough, Newton does most of the work for you.

You never have been able to have 2 options on the surplus. It has always been 1. The only edit I made to it is to add the 'or none' option. So yes, you do have to change the current plan

The Fire & The Rose (Drieder) (French)
La Feu et la Rose

La Feu la furie, la rose de chagrin
Le feu an parle, la rose a fluerin
Le sol sacré de Dieu n'est pas exposé…

The Fire & The Rose

Fire, fury, the rose of sorrow
The Fire has spoken, The Rose has blossomed
Gods holy soil lay unexposed…

French is definately not my first language.

I am now imagining a Folkmar quest where all the options are tinged with high drama. Every turn we would have to vote on what to brood over.
