Abjorn took a spear to the gut for us, I'm pretty fucking sure that's not a platonic sign of friendship here. Even if they can heal it right up, the fact he put his life on the line to save ours needs addressing.
Also: we need to bring him lots of beets and rutabaga to make up for his family's loss of onions.

In fairness, fellow soldiers/warriors doing these sorts of things for each other is hardly unheard of. I do think he's interested, but his protectiveness is not definitive on its own. But yes, it needs to be addressed.
Halla, girl, come on. Get ahold of yourself!
You choke on your spit as the door opens.
When you think of a 'witch', you picture a gnarled old woman with warts and mushrooms growing all over her. So when she opened the door, you were not ready for her to look like that.
I would say she isn't attracted to the witch (mainly cause we had no crush rolls/she maxed her crush on Abjorn). So I'd say it is probably embarrassment.
Will be interesting the first time she is on the other end of stunning good looks lol.
As for the witch.... Yeah, would be nice if we could learn from her Hugr stuff.
Though, if we are going to learn cooking and other house keeping stuff (aside from spells to animate brooms or other quality of life improvements) I think it would be better to learn them from nom and our sister.

Yeah, we can pick this up from Mom as much as we need to...honestly, high Hugr and orthstirr probably allows us to fake it decently well even without the skills themselves (at least at anything beyond the most basic level).
"You okay, Halla?" Abjorn asks as he sets down the young tree he ripped out of the damned ground with his bare hands mere moments ago. He eyes your cheeks, concern clear in his gaze.

I made an executive decision that Halla is aesthetically attracted to the Witch because I thought it would be funny.
The Hading Witch (H-Witch? Hitch? Hitch.) is not a love interest. Any attraction Halla feels towards her is purely aesthetic appreciation in nature; she's attracted to Hitch's beauty disconnected from anything romantic or sexual. This is portrayed through Halla lingering on physical aspects of Hitch far more than she does with anyone else, including Abjorn. With Abjorn, Halla trends towards appreciating what he's capable of — the results of his actions rather than how he looks doing them, though that does help.
Any future encounters with her will have Halla be better put together. I think that Hitch might have been the first woman outside of her family that Halla has met.
Ah that's fair enough. Sorta like observing a beautiful background or thing in nature. Or like the myth of Psyche being beautiful but in a way that people admire from afar.

Determination lances through you like an arrow from a bow. "Your price?" Pick your price carefully, Daughter of Cats.
"Just a simple favor, equal in value to your desires, no more, no less." The Witch hurriedly states. A tiny bead of sweat rolls down her brow.
"That seems fair, I accept." You frown as you catch her wide-eyed gaze. "Is something wrong?"
"No! No, it's just..." She grimaces, glancing out the nearest window. "Oh would you look at the time, it's almost nightfall! You wouldn't want the monsters to get you, would you!?"
There's an almost manic look to her as she keeps glancing from you to the door, like she's weighing her options. There's no backing out now, Witch. I look forward to your efforts.
She flinches, teeth grinding together.
So our possessing inspiring friend can bully the witch by mere presence.

Eric sounds important.
Next turn we should ask dad his opinion of the whole 'someone else speaks to, temporarily changed our stoked virthing to an unknown material, and taught us Hone Trick and Stabilizing Palm' thing. The witch can tell us who it was, but dad can tell us the cultural significance and would do so without being threatened.

If the witch herself doesn't provide that information and we don't know it already, but she does come up with a decently well known name, then I'm inclined to agree. We'll need to see what the witch says to make a really good determination in that regard, though.
So today I learned that Medieval Europe was substantially cleaner than Renaissance Europe. The Catholic Church decried public bathing as a sin, but it also sponsored a number of bathhouses and other cleaning venues, while the Orthodox Church has being clean as an outright requirement before attending church, to the point that they had pumps and what-not installed. Medicine was still dominated by the teaching of the Greek Physician Galen, who was very pro-hygiene. However, the rest of his medical theory was horribly off (looking at you, Four Humours), and so come the Renaissance, they threw out cleanliness along with the rest of Galen's medical theory and, well, things got smellier. But at least we got to build towards actual medicine from that, so hey-ho, swings and roundabouts and all that.
TL;DR Halla is as clean as any other peasant or Orthodox person, but will always be cleaner that those Southron nobles. Eugh.

Steinarr left that morning.
He wore a tunic you hadn't seen before, one with chainmail sewn into strategic places, like over the heart and stomach. He took down Crowfeeder and his iron-rimmed shield from the wall.
He hugged you, Asva, and Asveig goodbye then told Eric to look after the farm. He said that he'd be back sometime in winter and stepped through the door.
And then he was gone.
With father off raiding, everything got a little bit harder around the farm. There just wasn't enough hands or time in the day to do everything.
So when you were out harvesting the fields, you were the first to notice a streak of fire from the east as it burns its way across the early-morning sky. It tore through clouds like a knife through straw, like a fist through powdered snow.
It hits the earth like Mjolnir does a giant's head. The ground shakes, sending you to the ground with a sharp jolt. The animals bleat in fear, stamping against the dirt and causing a raucous ruckus.
And then, it stops.
Just like that. No warning or sign given. Where once there was movement, there now only is stability.
You climb to shaky feet and look to the hills, towards where whatever it was landed.
Well, at least you'll have someway to occupy your time while Steinarr's gone.

0~0~0 Eric's asking for his wise little sister's advice.
"So, do you think you can help me?" Eric asks after laying out the problem he's facing. You stroke your jaw and chin and weigh the options while going over the problem once again.
Eric is 17-years-old and is an adult. Which means that he can go off and do his own thing and nobody will bat an eye. As an adult, he's expected to either find a trade or start a farm, sometimes both.
He's also expected to find a wife, which only really adds to the problem.
The only trade he really thinks he could be good at is shipbuilding. Problem is that Asvir doesn't have a shipwright of its own, it contracts the shipwright of Jurgdby — a larger town down the coast — to obtain the ships necessary for trade and viking.
Jurgdby isn't close to Asvir. It's a day's journey by foot, thanks to a fjord cutting between Asvir and Jurgdby. Boating there is far swifter, only a few hours at most, but your family doesn't own a boat with which to do so.
This means that Eric won't be able to help out around the farm, nor would he be able to defend it should the worst happen. With Sten gone, he's worried that him leaving would leave the family hanging.
He's also wondering if he should try courting Stigrun, Stigr's sister, or if he should try to find a wife in Jurgdby. Marrying Stigrun would permanently secure the alliance with Kerr's family, but it might also make Vidar feel excluded. Unless, of course, you and Abjor-
You shake your head to clear it of cheek-heating thoughts and re-focus back on task.

0~0~0 Well, looks like Abjorn's on the mind. (Hugr: 4, 5, 6, 2, 1) 3 Successes
Who is Abjorn to you?
You laugh at the thought.
Abjorn is one of your best friends. He's always been there for you. Not only has he been there for you, but he's never tried to stop you from being 'un-womanly'. Not even Stigr can claim that — he wasn't the nicest of little boys, but you kicking his ass convinced him otherwise.
Abjorn outpaces you now, sure, but you were the only one who could keep up with him when you and he were little.
He's protective of you — suicidally so, even! He took a damn arrow for you. He got himself gutted by Lori's spear and, instead of focusing on staying alive, used the last bit of strength in his body to carve open Lori's leg!
It's clear that he cares about you in a way beyond a normal friend, even one as good as you. But, does he feel the same way about you that you do about him?
A dopey smile spreads across your face, heat flooding your cheeks as you bury your face in your hands.
And don't kid yourself. You like him, a lot.
Odin's eye that feels good to say!
You like Abjorn. You want to m-ma...
Your cheeks gain the heat of the sun as you force yourself to finish the thought.
Marry him. You want to marry him.
You stare at the sky, your breathing light as a feather and a fond smile on your face. Speaking the truth was like taking a leaden weight off your shoulders.
You want him as your husband and you want to be his wife.
But, does he feel the same way?

AN: Today's voting period will be shorter than normal, three or four hour. Once the visit is over, the options for next turn will be available.
Wow. Poetry gains seem to be cursed. We'll keep trying until we get there, though. On the bright side, we're now within 'adult warrior' range on both Hamr and Hugr, which is nice. And Halla is into Abjorn to the surprise of nobody...we'll definitely need to talk to him about that. Hope it goes well.
[X] Go to Jurgdby, court Stigrun [X] Go to Jurgdby, court someone there
I think Eric should follow his heart in terms of career. He's better suited to intellectual pursuits than farming, as well. I'm more ambivalent in terms of who he should court. Giving advice on that when we don't really know how he feels seems weird. Also, he's literally going there to learn shipbuilding...I think he'll be able to get a boat and visit more often before too much time has passed.
[X] Fylgja Unveiling
Once our fylgja is unveiled we know our final stat and can start training it more if we want. We need to know both of the offered pieces of info, but this seems more urgent to me. Not more important, just more time sensitive.
EDIT: Okay, if he likes her a fair bit, then he should court her.
Eric doesn't particularly care either way, though he certainly does like Stigrun, which is why he brought her up as an option. Halla didn't just think her up out of the blue, my bad for not making that clear in the text.
[X] Go to Jurgdby, court Stigrun
Personally would rather we do have a solid alliance with our friends family through marriage. That seems especially important considering well what we did to that kid and our dads enemies. Like legit if he likes her I would say go for it.
