Snake's Tougnue and Giant's blood seem like a solid foundation to build on, maybe with friendly for the social doors it opens and to keep things within the family civil. Bloodlust and wanderlust are aalso good for Orthstirr generation. Then born of fire and maybe others if we can manage.

I mean, we don't really know the full options because, Giant's Blood aside, we don't have a list of Abjorn's traits.

Snake's Tongue + Giant's Blood is self evidently really good mechanically, and Friendly is great thematically as well. Beyond that we'd need more info on what the options are. Bloodlust isn't so much desired as really likely because I think both Abjorn and Halla have it, but it's also fine (Bold may also fall into that category, though I'm less sure of that). We get one free lock-in from our Muna, if we also manage to use 4 Reward Dice we should be able to get all three of those (Snake's Tongue + Giant's Blood + Friendly) without needing to spend Hamingja...though burning a point of Hamingja for that combo would maybe be worth it if we really have to.

Actually...can we use our Muna to lock in recessive stuff? If so it's probably worth using on Godly Luck, and trying to scrounge up Reward Dice for the remaining stuff above.

As I understand it, Born of Fire is automatic, as is Bloody Basics if we can get it, and those are both great whatever else the kid has.

The recessive Seeing Eyes plus Godly Luck, then Giant's Blood and Snake's tongues, because those are pure upside.

As for the other traits, honestly, Friendly is the only must-have. Poet, Leader, Prosperous and Bold are nice to have.

Depends on how much Seidr we end up learning, we end up not touching Seidr alot? I want battle mage. We end up becoming battle mage? id like to play around with Hamr, shapeshifting, and a offensive/melee Fylgja.

for sure Seeing eyes (fylgja version of giant's blood/snake's tongue) both the battle mage and melee shape shifter would make heavy use of Fylgja since i think we wont end up exploring it much this character.

Personally, the way I figure it is that we have 9 coming. Rather than burning resources to try to get them all to turn out the same way, we're better off cranking up the base as high as we reasonably can and then letting the dice roll and see what we get.

Also... having it be our kids would be odd. Like, assuming Halla doesn't die in childbirth, her soul isn't available to pass on until after she dies, right? So what we're really looking for are our grandkids. Am I missing something here?

In general, though, for whoever our next character is, I want a far-wanderer. I want a male character, who's capable at combat (though it's not a heavy focus), good at seduction and social, smart and curious. I want the guy who will go out and wander the world for a decade or so, have lots and lots of kids with a variety of local women in a variety of locales (ideally ones who are themselves magical in various ways), learn a lot about different forms of cultivation and how they work, and come back with ideas. Basically, this is the guy who's going to gather the kind of lore on cultures and cultivations that will make it possible to turn Viking cultivation into something that can withstand Christian conversion attempts. If we can pull it off, I'd like him to somehow manage to build a school.

Ambitious, too ambitious for a second character IMO, but to make it work i think we need to first fully understand the Norse system. Halla has a good start on it since we dabbled in whatever we could, but I think we will need a second character to fully get a grasp on it. Second character Ideally also goes heavy on item creation and working on deciphering foreign system items.
Once we have that solid foundation for our travels will i see this having success, also as we come back we have a reputable family to lend creditability to our claims.

Hilariously enough, there is a slight possibility for this to happen. If you played your cards right, that is.
I am too much of a dumb sap not to try and make this happen.

[X] Plan Our First Raid but in Wessex

On a side note, I am kinda surprised I've yet to run into a romcom anime with this premise. "Two thralls who happen to have been betrothed" might seem like a weird subject for a romcom, but this is the genre that gave us "my right hand turned into a literal girl" so it might actually be too mundane.

I personally am hoping for the shittiest traits imaginable, only so the true runt of the litter can pull an underdog. Plus minimaxing is the opposite of fun.

NOT Bloodthirsty.
It makes the character inherently desire to fight rather than fighting when there is something worth fighting for.

Build I want: Seeress (a seeress, not a bloodthirsty warrior that knows seidr)
Someone intelligent, seeing into mysteries others don't, that seeks, and seeks to understand, those mysteries, a bit removed from the usual mundane going ons, using that understanding when aproached with a reasonable request (and reasonable pay)
Ideally: Intelligent (Snake's Tongue), Fylgja (Seeing Eyes), Lucky (Godly Luck), someone others listen to (Leader), who is good at putting wisdom into words easily remembered (Poet), with a Raven fylgja

But inheriting Intelligent, recessively inheriting Lucky, and getting a Raven fylgja would probably be a functioning minimalist build.
Other positives of course wouldn't hurt. (hamr, beautiful and so on)
+born with hammer in hand, just to not let it go to waste

Or a master smith striving to reach the levels of dwarves: Intelligent, strong, wanderlust, born with hammer in hand, poet (to put wisdom into words to pass on), bold, since there is no nid in smithing as a man i'd probably also hope for a boy to for the ones who want a male character (considering the deep sexism issues with a male seeress in setting and the facto that Halla was female)
(would probably also lead to a fair bit of 'hammer to the face' for anyone trying to attack us/be in our way)

Note:
Lucky is probably good for any build/goal except underdog.

This is a very close run where every vote counts. So if there are any lurkers out there with an opinion on the matter, this is a golden opportunity to pop in!

Yes, that includes you, the guest who doesn't have an SV account yet.

2c. Gabriel might appreciate some items from back home. Important since some of us have expressed interest in buying him, the poor boy (as we learned in his interlude he wants to stop looking at our sexy face and high power level)

I think Gabriel would be angry, rather than happy if we were to bring items from Wessex to him since we... y'know, raided his people to get it. Also, his interlude was back when our relationship was still pretty bad. I wouldn't say that he likes us right now, but it's certainly much better than right after we duelled him.

2a. Gabriel has a betrothed we might run into and kidnap

We probably should've asked Gabriel for a name. Or an appearance. Or anything that we could use to identify her. I'm also not sure if he'd be happy, but I don't see him being pissed off by it, either?

2. they are far away might take an extra turn

I don't think it'd take an extra turn, but we'd certainly have a greater chance of running into difficulties the further we need to travel. Sea monsters, weather, etc.

Feelings aren't rational, so there's a real chance that Gabriel would be simultanously angry that we literally enslaved and kidnapped his former fiancée and elated that he now has a chance of regaining just a semblance of what he lost that fateful day in Wessex.

Eh, I feel like it'd be much more complicated than that. We'd also have to take his fiancee's feelings into account, as her being miserable might make Gabriel miserable. And I have no doubt that she'd be miserable after we kidnap her and rob her village. Not to mention that they can't actually get married here, unless they do it the Norse way. I don't see that happening.

Divorces are a thing, right? Is it possible that she might've re-engaged or maybe even married someone by now? Gabriel has been gone for years, after all. And they never actually got married.

If anything, I'm beginning to think that kidnapping his fiancee might just serve as a reminder of what he lost, rather than something that'd make him happy. I still think that there'd probably be some sort of happiness, initially, though? As you said, feelings aren't rational.
