I mean, I don't see that being more effective than Standstill at trapping someone. I'd rather give Pyroclasm to one or, hopefully, more of our children.

You're probably right. I dunno I just find it kind of appealing and potentially really versatile. Making quick defensive fortifications, temporary bridges, giant half cooled lava clubs, maybe a way to launch obsidian shards, that kinda thing.

Actually this reminds me of a question I've had for awhile and I apologize if it's been answered elsewhere. But is it possible to earn a Hungreida for an Alloy you currently have in use? And if so would you keep it at the current grade the Alloy is at? Or does the very act of having it as an Alloy prevent that? I was mainly thinking of Emberwind (which I assume is smoke) with this.

It's a super neat Hugareida in its own right. That said, it overlaps a lot with our existing ones and would start at only Grade 1, which makes it difficult to justify using for Halla as compared to some of the alternatives like Grade 7 Ignition, Grade 6 Standstill, and Grade 3 Sunfire. Better to have it on our next character where we can do a deep dive rather than it being, like, a tertiary ability at best we almost never use.

You can, it's been confirmed, and it starts at the Alloy rating. However, it's no easier than earning it if you don't have the Alloy, generally speaking. We've never actually achieved this.

And Emberwind is more 'cinders' than smoke...it's actual fire carried in the air.

if this trip lasts for a full month, we should have 900 over the entire adventure, assuming nothing changes. we use 150 now and used 90 before, and with 4 more we should have Fylgja 8. that leaves us with 656 xp. we need 256 for Hamr after training items, leaving us with 400 for Fylgja, with training items thats 800 which should be enough to either reach 10 or at least get us very close

Setting stone houses on fire totally works. Well, you need to pile stuff around them, but the roof still burns and smoke inhalation is a problem. It's a tad harder, I'll grant you, but if you're determined...
Most houses in Iceland during this time would be made of sod, for the record.

I'll call voting in an hour.

I may have to break this one down into chunks as I'm currently running on fumes—having run out of medicine.

Alright, small change of plans. I'm going to need another hour and a half to go and pick up my medicine, but things are looking up!

Voting is now closed.

I'll need a d100 for your bad luck as well as 5 Silver-Tongue Checks

I guess I'll take a Silver Tongue.

Edit: I think that's 19 successes?

I've never rolled using the SV dice roller and I can't seem to figure out how to do it, so I'm sorry for leaving it to the others.

What happens if we roll the lowest possible result? We stop to ask hospitality and the Enemy himself opens the door?

0 successes involved them insulting us by feeding us sub par food, so we have to respond or get nid. If we go far enough into negatives they probably try and murder us in our sleep. That's hideously dishonorable, but somebody out there would think the money was worth it.

Hugr 10-11
Roll 1: 14 Successes. Roll 2: 14 Successes. Roll 3: 7 Successes. Roll 4: 11 Successes. Roll 5: 14 Successes
The Danes of Lolland and Zealand were hospitable hosts indeed! Offering you spiced meats and flavorful beers, they made each night truly refreshing! Though there was a time that you sailed into a minor dispute over some goats, you still managed to get a night's rest out of the debacle.

When you made landfall in Skane, however, you were met with suspicion and concealed hostility once you made your ancestry known. Though no weapons were bared, the Danes of Skane still kept a close eye on your hands and a careful ear to your words. It seems that your family—and Gutes in general—aren't especially welcome in this part of Skane. It makes sense, after all your family did lead an invasion into Skane when Gotland sank...

Regardless, they still welcomed you into their homes and fed you good food and fine wines. They also let slip of some pertinent information regarding the local weather patterns, allowing you to shorten the next leg of the journey by a full day!

Speaking with Asva and Jordan
Under the watchful eyes of Jordan and Minna, the curious children get to know one another as you, Asva, Eric, and Sten hash out the details of inheritance.

You're sat upon a barrel as Asva leans against the mast while Sten and Eric both pull up chairs—the rest of the crew busy with preparing the ship for the day's voyage. The sun shines from just over the horizon, casting the entire deck and shore in a strange, red glow. The skies are mostly clear, with a fair few clouds guided by the gentle, hair-tickling breeze.

"I've spoken with Jordan about it," Asva says as she tucks a strand of coal-black hair behind her ever-pale ears. "We've not had much luck in Denmark, unfortunately, and so we've decided to take you up on your offer."

"Bad luck?" Eric asks as he leans in, cautious curiosity playing across his face as Leif does the same with little Asveig.

Asva grimaces as Jordan shifts his weight to his other leg. Sucking down a tongue-clicking breath, she launches into her tale of woe, "One of Jordan's cousins, Kettil Bellow, was killed during a heated argument soon after we arrived. Kettil's killer refused settlement and a feud broke out, which Jordan, of course, participated in."

"That's when he got the curse, isn't it?" You run thumb and finger across chin and jaw as Asva's face darkens into a glower.

"Got it in one," she turns her hateful glare on the horizon, towards where the witch, presumably, once lived. "Jordan and his family travelled to Kettil's killer's homestead and demanded Hark Longlegs surrender himself to their vengeance. Hark refused and so Jordan and his family set to burning the house down but the wood wouldn't ignite."

Jordan steps in at this point and clears his throat, "I realized that it was the work of magic, thanks to having known Halla," he nods to you, an appreciative look in his eyes as he tells his own story with his own voice, "One of my cousins, Lori Shining, has seeing eyes and added that the source of the magic was inside the house. Sharing our findings with my Uncle, Lidulfr Grindstone, we devised a plan to break through a wall while the others assaulted the doorway, find the source, slay them, and then burn down the house."

"A sound plan," Sten's eyes narrow as he mutters to himself, fingers combing through his short-cut beard, "but there was a hitch, wasn't there?"

Jordan nods, lips thinning as he continues, "The plan went well and Lori and I busted through the wall using a felled tree as a ram. I cut down Hailaga Fjornsson before he could even react while Lori held off the rest of the house at an entryway, his spear keeping them at bay. While Lori fought like a lion, I found the source in chains—a sorceress enthralled by our enemies. Cleaving her chains with a single blow, I called Lori to my side and we leapt free of the house as Lidulfr set the building ablaze." Jordan takes a deep breath as he moves on to the next part, Asva growing angrier with every passing moment, "The sorceress begged me to take her as wife but I refused, saying that I was already married and had no interest in concubines. In hearing that, the sorceress grew furious and revealed herself as a witch as she hung a curse of enfeeblement about my neck."

"I tracked her down," Asva growls as her arms fold tightly before her chest, "and flattened her head with a pan, but wasn't able to break the curse until Halla came along. Thank you for that, by the way," she adds, nodding to you.

"No problem," you wave it off as the conversation trails away.

Talking to Haggar Worm
You find Haggar Worm as he's stringing his wriggling namesake on the end of a fishing pole. He eyes you with one slab of a brow arched, "Come to speak of our task, have you?"

"I have, yes," you nod as he casts the line out into the waves lapping at the shoreline you've found yourself lodging on. "Specifically, I was wondering what Slavs are like, their strengths and weaknesses and the like."

Haggar clicks his tongue against his teeth as he pats a rock next to him, "Have a seat, young lass, and I'll answer your questions as long as the fish keep biting."

You do as requested and consider your questions.

What do you ask him?

AN: Apologies for not having the full update done, but I got super distracted with workshopping a character for a Vampire the Masquerade campaign a friend of mine is running and lost complete track of time.

No moratorium.
