Hey Halla,

Was Dorri or Framarr at your Yule party when you cast your divinations, or otherwise physically nearby?
Token appearance by Dorri, not much other than that
Hey Halla,

1) What did Dorri say or do with regards to when you told him about the Vittra?
2) Have you noticed Framarr, Folkmarr or Dorri treating or looking at you differently since Yule?
3) For that matter, were any of Dorri or people related to Dorri at your Yule Party?
a) Who Yules with you these days anyway? Like, aside from your household, immediate family and friends.
4) Is your runework famous in the Hading Valley?
1. Said that he'd look into it, make sure there wasn't anything going on.
2. You have not
3. Sure
A. Friends, family, neighbors
4. Probably is

Hmmm. I'm working on Dorri/Drysalt connection theories. I think there are five realistic possibilities. In rough order of likelihood:

#1. The one we've been assuming. Drysalt is a hidden mastermind, and Dorri has, relatively recently, made a deal with him for some reason. The two most likely points in time are when he needed something for Folkmarr's condition, and when he recently began to worry about Corpsemaker having him replaced. This is very plausible.

#2. Dorri has been coopted by Drysalt for much longer than that. He came to the Hading shortly after Drysalt's rampage...Drysalt could have contacted him shortly thereafter and offered him wealth and power for service. This seems unlikely to me but it's far from impossible if both of them are playing the long game.

#3. Drysalt is not a mastermind and never was. He had a master once...what if, after coming to the Hading, Dorri found a masterless Troll and somehow assumed the role of master over them? In this scenario, Drysalt is dangerous enough in a straight fight, but a red herring otherwise. Dorri is behind everything, simply using Drysalt as a tool. I don't think it's this one, but it'd be a hell of a twist if it was, which makes it interesting ton theorize on.

#4. Dorri is actually Drysalt in a person-suit. Presumably having been replaced after the birth of Folkmarr as neither he nor Framarr seem inhuman. This seems like a low probability outcome, but we can't rule it out with the information we currently have.

#5. Drysalt is actually Dorri in a troll-suit. The original Drysalt is long dead. Dorri has assumed the identity to carry out his less legitimate schemes on the down low. Not technically impossible, but pretty unlikely, I think, due to motivation...why do this? And why with such a recognizable alias?

But yeah, so, I think it's #1, but #2 and #3 are also pretty valid, and #4 and #5, while much less likely, aren't actually impossible. Can anyone think of other valid scenarios that aren't some subvariety of those? There's technically a possibility that Dorri is possessed and Drysalt's puppet, but I think that's even more unlikely than any of these scenarios.

By the way, did we ever... come to any conclusion regarding what we were doing with our kids?

I heard a lot of people saying we should bring them along for the trip for safety purposes, but it's not explicitly mentioned in any of the plans as far as I can see.

Last time they stayed with Sten, but Sten is coming with us (I presume), and the plan has us bringing everyone who came last time, which includes Abjorn and our huscarls, soo... I'm not even sure who would be available to look after them. So they might be coming by default, but... it's a bit messy.

I think that's covered separately. The current unanimous decision is 'the people we had last time plus some others'...we obviously need a vote to decide on the others, which would presumably include the possibility of bringing our kids.

That said, they could stay with Halfdan and likely be fine if we do want to leave them. Halfdan is a good dude and one of the scariest people in the Valley.

Assuming things will be handled in subsequent votes is how we ended up heading out on our last trade mission without having stocked up on any trade goods. Like, honestly I don't think IF is going to screw us here, but it's not best practice, if that makes sense? It also means the conclusion is sort of forgone if we've already voted to bring our retinue with us. Halfdan is a possibility, but suddenly dropping several kids on him at once is kind of an imposition...

...unless he's like many parents with mostly-grown-up-children and is actually super eager to Dad at some little ones, I guess. 😅

Uh...no it isn't? That didn't happen...we always intended to go somewhere, grab trade goods, then head to Wessex. One of the places to do that was Jurgdby, mind you, but still.

I feel like there being an explicit follow-up vote for exactly who to bring makes it fine. If we were voting for 'only the people from last time' we'd need a write-in to also bring the kids, but we're explicitly bringing others and will thus need to vote on who.

I think Halfdan is a valid option. We haven't asked him to babysit for long periods before, but we like and trust him and he owes us a favor or three.

Steinarr Servant Sheet (FancyMolasses)
Had this idea last night. The Fate rabbit hole is deep and strange.

Class: Avenger
True Name: Steinarr Freedfire

Parameters
Strength: A
Endurance: B
Agility: A
Mana: B
Luck: E
Noble Phantasm: A+

Class Skills
Avenger: D (B)
Horra will die for what he has done. All others are secondary. For Sten. For Steinkell.
Oblivion Correction: D (B)
Horra will pay for everything he has done. His continued breathing is an insult that will be repaid. Everyone and everything else in the way of that is a minor obstacle.
Self Replenishment (Mana): C
The fires of vengeance will continue to surge until vengeance is had.

Personal Skills
Born of Fire: A+
Freedfire has access to a variety of fire-based spells and tricks, as well as an increased resistance to it and a martial style in the Stoker State. However as a consequence he is vulnerable to water-based effects. His pursuit of vengeance has augmented this ability.
Green Fingers Burnt Black: D
Once, the man that would be Freedfire wished to work the land and took great joy in that. He has since traded plows for swords. All that is left is fuel for the fire.
Dogged Pursuit: A
Freedfire will not let something as petty as a person or barrier inhibit his pursuit. Parameters are increased when in pursuit of a target or goal. However, Freedfire will drop anything and everything in pursuit of Horra.
Overload: D
The ability to increase the effects of a skill or ability by adding more mana. The lower the rank of this skill, the worse the efficiency is.

Noble Phantasm
Flame-Tending Blade (Anti-Unit at minimum): A+
The ultimate finale of the Stoker State. A giant blade of hardened fire annihilates all in its path. The more time and mana used to form it, the more powerful it is and the faster it deploys. There is no upper limit to its power.
Burning Vengeance for a Vile Murderer (Anti-Unit at minimum): A+
A great storm of fire that consumes everything in its path. Powerful, but extremely difficult to control even at minimum power. Very slightly less effective against targets who are not Horra or not related to him in some way.

Cool beans! 2 Reward Dice sent your way.

I reckon Steinarr's natural efficiency would be some kind of skill. He also would have access to the Varangian Way and Golden Chain stuff—the first allows him to add the total strength he had at the prime of his life to a single blow while the Golden Chain is both a powerful defense move and also a method of battlefield control.

He'd probably have those in his Saber container, an Avenger class servant is one constantly stuck in their mindset of revenge, unable to move past or relent.

I thought of Avenger Steinarr as kind of a bad end I guess? Or like the lesser version of who he could be. He's both over-specialized and inefficient at his exact aims. You could throw him at non-Horra problems but you'd probably be better served by someone else.

Saber Steinarr is a more complete version of who he is and has access to all his tools.

Originally we were going to buy soapstone and tar in Asvir, actually, but then we left before we got the chance. The place where we went to get whetstones was also decided on whilst we were already aboard ship.Hardly the end of the world though, it worked out well.

Some stuff from the discord about Elves and Giants.

In elf society, there are two kinds of disagreement solutions; arguments and debates.
I won't get into details before you meet elves
(On touching grass)
That's the elf equivalent of telling someone to kill themselves

Giants are generally isolationists—so much so that they rarely see another giant let alone a human.
However, they also judge you based on how well you can use your body to convey ideas
The bee-comparison isn't too far off
They live in 'studios' and get together with the other members of their studio to compete with other studios over things like who gets to keep the children produced from couplings

We talked about this but determined that wasn't where you bought those things. Jurgdby would be preferable and was less than a day's trip away. We actually bought a whole passel of Water Wolf pelts before setting out in Asvir...we did not forget shopping, we just determined doing it elsewhere was better, pelts aside. The switch to doing it in Geirstadt rather than Jurgdby was a bit last minute, but we didn't forget to shop before setting out. We actually still have some water wolf pelts we grabbed before setting out.
