I was checking the character sheet and i had an idea.

After we defeat the Champion and the two warriors, we could use the Boar-Headed Horn. Such a blow to the enemy morale could cause a rout, or at least give our allies an opening to change the tides of the battle.

great, but lets focus on taking down a champion and two warriors. we might not even manage that(we should definitely try though)

I'm pretty sure there are counters (plural) to Time Stands Still. Perfect Defences have a counter, DR probably has a counter, Hugareida-based defences have a counter... each form of attack we output has it's own weakness as well. Whether the Champion has an applicable counter is in question, though. We ourselves don't (yet).

@Imperial Fister when you're back on, please shift the 2 reward dice I gave to Deadman over to him on the tracking bit, otherwise I will forget I gave them to him and try and spend more than I should have on whatever I feel needs it at some point. Thanks.

I didn't question if a counter existed, because i am sure it does.

I am just saying that if Random Viking 23 just happens to have the perfect counter for one of our most powerful abilities already prepared, it would be pretty immersion breaking.

I can expect something like that from a Steelfather, a Jotnar or a truly old and experienced warrior (like Steinarr or Dorri). But not from a random raider whe meet for the first time.

I think we could counter TSS with our own TSS, honestly. Our amazing armor plus Slowing Slog up going full blast would also be a soft counter to some degree vs. a lot of opponents depending on how hard they hit (we could survive what we're throwing at this guy with that, for instance...we'd take 17 damage after DR, which would get through our armor and Frenzy, but only do one actual Endurance damage), though without our armor it'd kill us anyway.

But that said, I tend to agree that this guy having a hard counter to TSS is very unlikely given his seeming combat role. High DR is likely, but would not actually let him survive in most cases...he'd need DR 12 and Endurance+Frenzy 22+ to survive and he is not wearing armor which makes that a pretty unlikely number. Heck, he needs a minimum of DR 6 and DR+Endurance+Frenzy of 22+ just to survive Threadcutter (a more plausible number, to be sure, but still a very high one).

Someone like Heima Smiles or Blurryblade or maybe even Skoll The Hasty? They might have a counter for TSS. This guy? Nah, I don't think so, barring the DR idea, and while I think he has high DR, I don't think it's quite that high.

Hmmm. It occurs to me that I'm pretty sure there's no reason not to combo FBS with Stoking Strike on the final attack of Threadcutter. Can anyone think of a reason not to do that?

It only costs 2 Orthstirr more and might raise damage a fair bit (it'd up damage by 6-8 if the interaction works out the good way, where it does FBS damage plus the damage from the Stoked Dice). I highly doubt it'd drop damage (because that makes absolutely no sense) and the worst result aside from that is the additional cost being wasted (plausible, but worth the gamble). So this seems like a good call to me, but maybe I'm missing something.

Can we combo firebomb strike with Stoked Strike? Since both are tricks or are you talking about reverse fbs and stoked strike? Even so both are tricks.

We can combine Tricks on the fly. It ups the higher cost one's price by 1.5, but we've done it before a number of times. Our most notable example being EWC + Leaping Cleave in the fight with Father Gerrit (the move that let us win that fight).

Yeah, of course when I declare that this is a threat, I roll a nat fucking 20.

The dice here hate me.

sounds good.

I love it that Halla was all fighting moderately, conserving resources and trying not to waste orthstirr. then Stigmar got hurt and she immediatly switches gear to 'Im gonna burn all of you without even letting you respond'.

we are sure TSS won't result in nid? technically they can't defend themselves or respond

The fight is obvious and they know we're fighting them. If they don't have the tools to win, that's on them.

In the face of general approval I think I'll add the FBS combo to the plan in about an hour if nobody comes up with any objections.

Yeah, this. Killing people who can't respond is fine as long as they know they're in a fight when it happens. It's their own fault for not being good enough to respond.
