luckily one lacks a weapon. and the other is now without a shield. we should probably finish one off quickly, then the other so we can turn on the champion

AN: So, turns out that fighting two people at once is really difficult. Attacking leaves you exposed, which doesn't matter overmuch when you're fighting someone one-on-one. Whole different ballpark when it comes to 2+v1s, though—especially when you lack a shield to cover yourself with.
does our speed not help at all? we have huge speed

This is one of the things Atgeir Bodyguard was specifically assigned to do, though? Like, to quote the plan:
Yeah, that's my bad there. I only read the 'for ranged attacks' part and completely skipped over the rest as it wasn't relevant to the round—or so I thought.

I'll say that the atgeir bodyguard was defending Stigmar while you pulled him back.
Does that not work? That seems like it should work.
It does work, I just missed it in the plan.

Shield sacrifice throws off rhythm. Otherwise, yes Speed helps, but it helps less with the adding of more fighters with their own speed.

Okay, cool, we can at least do that going forward. Can we say he's not wounded then, just had his shield broken? Or otherwise improve his condition somewhat? It feels like that should have some actual effect.

Yeah, I think this is the time for Mire Ward.

Spear Guy and Axe Guy have no shields anymore, right?

would unleash inferno be good here? being efficient doesnt matter as much since we are on teh backfoot and it could be the kind of big effect needed to turn the tide back in our favor.

Enemy champion is probably also joining in, so expect 3 on one....
No idea if he will wait for us to dispatch the duo though...
hm... how about we send KSs on the duo and poke them?

Good news is that one of the champions is probably going to focus on us rather than helping out in the larger battle, the bad news is that that leaves us outnumbered 3 to 1 with a champion on the enemy's side.

Hmm.. seeing as the battle isn't going so well we should probably not hold out and just rev the engine to the max.

Use time stand still to Genk at least one of the mooks (with a high damaging blows) then overwhelm the second one before the champion has time to engage us.

Maybe also use against the odds? It is a +9 to rolls (actually when we're fighting a lot of enemies and we kill one dos the bonus lower or dos its sticks around for the round?)

So I think Spear Guy's spear being broken and Axe Man having lost our shield gives us the opportunity to take out both him and Axe Man in fairly short order? Which is a good job, because we've got the champion to worry about.

So I think the order of business here is:

(1) Force some quick healing magic into Stigmar's wrist
(2) Use Contested Movement on the attack from Axe Man, and take him out with a Spark Bomb/other strong attack.
(3) Deal with Spear Guy.
(4) Turn and fight the enemy champion.

... @Imperial Fister if we can heal his wrist, could we ask Stigmar to deal with Spear Guy after we take out Axe Guy, whilst we take care of the champion? That wouldn't be insulting, would it?

I think we need time that we won't get to heal his wrist.

Right now, I'm thinking "TSS, use our holdout Sparkbombs to delete the two guys we were fighting, then wreck the Champion's face with Threadcutter" We can easily produce an attack chain dealing 6 attacks for each individual strike (Which will carve through any shield layers he might have like a hot knife through butter), and a Stoking Strike finish that deals 20 damage (By spending 2 Orthstirr on a Sharpen and a Lightning Charge, then investing 15 Stoked Dice into the attack and 6 Odr to further empower it). That'll give us room to maneuver afterwards, and possibly wind up a big hit to tilt the scales, if seeing Halla go sicko mode doesn't do it already.

If we're doing TSS, we commit to the bit, 6 Odr is a cheap cost for guaranteeing the destruction of an enemy Champion. Especially when we have over a hundred in storage right now and most of the things that need Odr are measured in the dozens at least.

Much as I'd like to save it for a Surprise for Hooknails, we're starting to lose this battle, let's tilt the scales.

After Discord discussion I'm down for all of this except spending the Odr. That's just...not needed at all? If he doesn't have DR 6+ threadcutter kills him without it, and if he does, a sparkbomb will finish him off.

No, commit to the bit.

6 Odr is cheap as hell to absolutely seal the deal, even if he has a bullshit charm like Hooknails did that presumably takes damage in his stead if he's going to get fucked up. I don't think anyone short of a Steelfather can take a 20 damage attack after taking a set of nine 6 damage attacks to carve away any Armor or any Reinforce Shield layers he might have.

20 damage fucking kills him even if he has DR 8 like Abjorn, unless this dude is rocking Hamr 13 or something, but a guy like that would be checking Dorri's crew, not bullying the normal experts, and even if he does have DR 8 and 13 Hamr... He's going to be on the brink of death after that.

But no, commit to the bit, 6 Odr is not a gigantic expense given our current income and reserves. Just do it properly and leave nothing to chance, because chance makes fools of everyone.

Time Stands Still is a bit of an overreaction here I think?

...I can't believe I, who am usually the one advocating for us to use our shiniest toys at every opportunity, am the one saying this.

Also keep in mind our healing spell is basically just pushing Orthstirr into a wound to get innate Norse healing to do the trick - it's very quick.

A Contested Movement is very quick as well, so I think we can help Stigmar, kill or incapacitate Axe Guy when he throws his attack, and then immediately focus all our attention on the Champion. Spear Guy is explicitly backing off while looking for a weapon, which gives us more than enough time for us to do this and for Stigmar to occupy his attention.
