"Indeed," she claps her hands and moves on. "Fylgjukona are spirits that guard, protect, and foster a family under their care. They are responsible for the management of fylgjur as well as hamingja. They draw power from the hamingja of their charges while sending visions and warnings via the fylgjur of a family. You can contact a family's fylgjukona to learn information about said family, if they know it."
1) Do you know of any relationship between Fylgjur and Hamingja?
2) So a Fylgjukona kind of like, is a Fylgja, but for a family?
3) What are Fylgjukona 'like'? Are they like their charges in aggregate, all unique, or something?
4) What qualifies as a family for purposes of a Fylgjukona? Do they govern extended entire extended families or only the immediate family?
5) How does this work with marriages?
6) Specifically, myself, am I under the care of:
a) A Fylgjukona who is only concerned with myself, Abjorn and my children (and my huscarls and my hird?)
b) All the way up to Steinarr, so including my brothers and sisters?
c) All the way to Hallr, so also including all my distant cousins?
d) Multiple Fylgjukona, for each family - So I'm under a Fylgjukona for all the families I'm part of, who are all each partly responsible for me?
e) Something else??
A reprise of some mechanical questions from Discord for @Imperial Fister :
1. How does Threadcutter actually work? Do the attacks come quicker thannormal? Do all nine need to hit for the final one to go off? Can itbe interrupted like Stoker Engage?
2. When you stoke someone else's Aspect do you get Orthstirr based on your Orthstirr pool or theirs?
3. How do Folded Attacks used as a counterattack combined with a successful Contested Movement work? Like, if you did a 3Fold attack from a Fast as a counter, would the first attack go unopposed and the other two be rolled as normal, or what? What effect would the 'lower narrative weight' have on this?
4. Likewise, how does the 'two attack' limit on Time Stands Still work? Is it a time limit (so you can simultaneously do attacks from a Fast and normal attacks and get extra)? Is it conceptual? Does it work with Folded attacks?
He holds up his hands in surrender, "You'll hear no quarrel from me regarding private business. All I want is for you to broker a deal between the Ducklings and me," he pauses before adding, "and, if you're willing, to turn that Forged Iron into arms and armor."
Your brows rise as you suck in a breath, "That's... a big ask. Have you spoken with Sten about forging? And what about Asvir's smith?"
"Your brother's already agreed to forge, and as for Ketill," a small frown creases the corners of Dorri's mouth, "he unfortunately passed away in his sleep a few days ago." Dorri sighs and shrugs, "I'd been hoping to use his dwarfriend status for this, but it seems the Norns had other plans."
You hadn't heard that Ketill Smith had died, "What happened?"
Dorri grimaces, "It's uncertain, but the healers think a tumor may have slipped into his bloodstream overnight."
"Damn," you share a brief moment of silence before returning to business. "So, what would I receive in exchange for doing this?"
Dorri nods, like he'd been expecting that, "A portion of all loot taken by use of your arms and armor, with a preference towards interesting plants."
Eh, attacking those redscarf loves (unless they themselves have given us a reason to) feels ... unworthy... of Halla and Abjorn. Odreng. May be ok or even honourable in setting or historically, but still feels Odreng to me.
I'm very dubious of any plan that starts with 'And then we kill ourselves.' Even with likely but not certain resurrection that still seems like a bridge too far risk-wise. I think there's better ways to do this.

Possibly. Shard (I think?) suggested on Discord learning a Trick to permanently give us a new sense and then giving it up...I'm down for that if it works. That's a real price given the effort involved...I dunno how viable it is, though. But even if that doesn't work, I think we can figure something out.

So with the switch from Training Dice to XP, we need to decide how we're handling Training Items and other bonuses that apply similarly. I suggested the following in Discord and to Imperial Fister, but everyone should get input on this. IF also noted that Sten's taught us about all he can crafting-wise (without us being Finnish) so this transition will remove his bonus. My suggestions are as follows:
-Born of Fire doubles xp invested into Fire Hugareida and Stoker State
-Blackhand's Fire Safety Course triples xp invested into Fire Hugareida (this would stack with Born of Fire additively for x4 on Fire Hugareida).
-Training Items all double xp for what they apply to, but don't stack for that purpose (the Wrestling Item would likely apply only to Fang and Glima, not Hamr), so Training Items alone can't take you above x2. This covers everything but the Weighted Sphere and the Magic Training Wand, and maintains them as focused on specific Skills, Stats, etc.
-For the Weighted Sphere, have it just add its quality (+8) to Training (ie: xp per turn) but only for those with Momentum Hugareida. Make it so only one Training Item can do that for people at a time (only the highest applies, like with Tools). The Training Wand does the same, but +7 (for its Quality) and for other people rather than the user, who never benefits (so Abjorn and Halla get the Weighted Sphere's bonus, everyone else on the farm gets the Wand's).
The above Training Item rules provide a cap to how much Training Items can help on any particular thing and mean we're at said cap on the stuff our items apply to (including our general number of Training Bonuses), which means we aren't strongly incentivized to keep making huge numbers of training items. We likely make just a few more and be done, which seems good to me. Having a cap on bonuses like that also seems good from a worldbuilding perspective. Doubled xp on specific stuff and +8 Training from Items is a good place for that to cap out, I think.
So...what do people think of that suggestion? Does that sound good to everyone? I like it, it leaves Training Items as excellent without being so good the world stops making sense or we need to constantly spend actions stacking them higher and higher.
Sense of time might work, but speaking from experience it is terrible just having a bad sense of time, losing it completely is a terrible idea.
Just of extra sense ideas, the good ones that might be doable to gain are:
Heat vision
360 heat sense (rough level and location of heat nearby)
360 Air pressure sense (where air is and isn't nearby, therefore telling us where and what shape stuff is)
Tremorsense (feel vibrations in the ground and otherwise function like echolocation)
Echolocation
360 water detection (feel where water is around us, including inside living things)
Darkvision (might end up as a part of our normal vision, and therefore not something we can sell)
Most of these will probably end up as requiring a relevant Hugarindga, and only work in the "shroud" range of that Hugarindga, but that still covers a bunch of them.
When hamingja is detached from someone—via death or other—it takes the form of a woman or, rarely, an animal. Fylgjur then guide the hamingja to the recipients—as decided by the Fylgjukona.
Sharing the same great-grandfather means that you are under the aegis of the fylgjukona. When marriage is concerned, both families' fylgjukona govern the couple and their children. Once you no longer share great-grandfathers with someone, you no longer are governed by the fylgjukona of that family.

Option D. The fylgjukona only handle the things relevant to them. If, say, Steinarr died then you and your children would get some of his hamingja, but Abjorn wouldn't.

Threadcutter comes out quicker, forcing the opponent to defend. As long as the target is within range at the end, they can be hit by the big attack. It can be interrupted by forcing you to abandon it.
3. How do Folded Attacks used as a counterattack combined with a successful Contested Movement work? Like, if you did a 3Fold attack from a Fast as a counter, would the first attack go unopposed and the other two be rolled as normal, or what? [X] Who, if any, would you like to bring?
-[X] Abjorn and Stigmar.
[X] What's the general way you're going to be approaching this?
-[X] Diplomatically, see what's up first
0~0~0
Stigmar sighs and shakes his head as you tell him your plan, "So we're doing this again, huh?"
"What can I say?" You shrug with a slight tilt to the head, "I'm curious as to what brings a troll here of all places."
Abjorn's lips thin as his brows—which are steadily growing ever-bushier with the passage of time—furrow under the green hat you made him for Yule and, after a moment of consideration, decides to speak his mind, "I'm not happy about this. But," he holds up a hand to stop your arguments, "I know that you're wise to danger. If you need it, we," he gestures between him and Stigmar, "will be there to help."
"Thank you," you nod with earnest appreciation. Despite how annoying it can be, you can't fault them for worrying after you. After all, if Abjorn had said he wanted to talk to the troll, you'd immediately start searching for any foreign spirit or spell affecting his judgement
Turning towards the cavern mouth, you gaze into the darkness lurking within. Holding out a hand, you ignite a palmful of flames with a finger snap. The light banishes the darkness, revealing the earthen surfaces shaped by falling fists.
Breathing the fresh air of the sky-gazing world for a final time, you remind yourself that trolls aren't a threat to you anymore before, with a single step, you start your descent into the earth.
Buzzing bugs crowd around your palm as you make your way ever-deeper under the ground. Roots dangle from the ceiling as you carefully avoid setting them ablaze. With every step, an odd noise at the edge of your hearing wheezes louder and louder. It almost sounds like snoring...
Well, that's obviously where the troll slumbers. Doesn't take a genius to realize that.
You come to a stop before a large, dome-shaped cavern. The floor here is made of stone while the walls and ceiling still consists of dirt—though the roots are long gone. A cooking pot dangles off a hook set in a wall, not too far away from where a fire pit has been dug. Various articles of poorly maintained yet shockingly large clothing hang from the ceiling. In the middle of the room, on a moss-wrapped bed made from what appears to be cattle bones, sleeps a troll dressed in nothing but a sleeping shirt. He seems to have a spear and shield leaned up against the bed, within easy reach should they be needed.
The troll has yet to notice you, being asleep as he is, leaving you with free reign of his home.
What would you like to do?
[ ] Rummage around his things, see what there is to see
[ ] Wake the troll
[ ] Write in
Honestly the polite thing to do might be to wait outside, it feels kinda rude to barge into someone's home uninvited and wake them up from sleeping but... that's a long time to spend waiting around.
