Sure, that works for me

Well, in that case:

[X] 5oz per man
[X] Bring them back to Alfred
[X] Thoroughly loot the sea-fort
[X] Go get to know your Kinsman

[X] Give the Thanes a choice between thralldom and Alfred's justice

Not removing my 'Bring them to Alfred' vote yet because I prefer it to thralldom. I will if the choice option gets traction.

EDIT: And the Give them a choice option now outpaces the Thrall option, so I can drop my other vote.

Okay, this is fine then.

I'm mostly inclined to a lower ransom, because they did surrender, but more important there aren't a lot of them, so even a higher ransom won't give us much loot anyway.

So here's a question: why would the Norseman gain nid for surrendering early/failing to protect their charge, while the Knight doesn't seem to gain sin from abandoning the fight? Is is that the Norsemen had made their promise directly to the Thane, while the Knight is just under a general "promote the general welfare" obligation?

The knight was probably led to believe he was fighting for a noble cause. When he found out he was fighting for tax evasion he probably had to stop fightimg then and there or get hit with sin or some such.

Yeah, the Norsemen probably got Nid because he swore to protect that one dude and failed to die with them (Because he ran away like a bitch instead of fought with them, presumably), but that was on him for being a shitty employer (But also on them for not vibe checking him well enough)

[X] Offer the Thanes a choice, join yuor crew and go in exile to Norway or face Alfred justice
[X] Thoroughly loot the sea-fort

I don't think enslaving the Thanes is a good idea, but we can't just leave them there either.

Exile could be an appealing alternative to death for some of them, if they resettle in Norway they can rebuild a life in a place were their fighiting skills are highly valued. Maybe if they stay in the Valley they could help later in the War arc.
