One more vote change should do it.

Incidentally I believe Fister said there was some stuff from the Gabriel spar that would be extremely hilarious in hindsight. Anyone figured out what the hilarious part is? (It was about Gabriel's Finale, which probably makes it a Blackstone Blade Finale. )

[X] Socialise with the Headsman and the group.
-[X] Float our proposal that we should sell the wolf pelts on our trading expedition to Wessex, trading them for more grain, as they will fetch a higher price there.
-[X] Ideally, everyone can agree to club together and donate the pelts to purchase grain for those hit hardest by the bad harvest. If not, we're offering to buy any pelts that other hunters are willing to sell us from their shares for a fair price.
-[X] Use Silver-Tongue.

@Imperial Fister since I keep missing my window to write it in at the time, for Halla's next baby could you please explicitly include the option to spend Odr during the trait selection phase, per the below? Also I'll go ahead and spend my bonus die on trying to ward off any negative repercussions (like the Odr causing premature birth)
@Imperial Fister would it have been possible to put Odr into the childmaking process?
That is something I had not yet considered. Yeah, yeah it absolutely would be.

It is Inspiration after all and if there's one place to get creative...
I had more meant during the pregnancy but it's sounding like you're saying the time to use Odr is during the impregnation/fertility roll?
Fertility roll, trait selection. Both work

While the Tally would say it is a tie, Skippy's vote for previous trade plan, uh
[X] Socialise with the Headsman and the group.
-[X] Float our proposal that everyone gets an equal share of the carcasses, and the wolf pelts from this hunt should be sold on our trading expedition, as they'd probably fetch a better price there.
-[X] We could either buy them for a fair price and keep the profit, or they could be a donation, with the grain bought from their proceeds going to the neediest families in the valley.

^ Keeping the old wording of the vote in this post so people are free to swap over, but it won't go down in the tally.
It went down in the tally. >.>

Not that there is any difference in intent between the two votes, mind, more a difference in phrasing.

Christ's Iron (fearsome hill)
small poem about the knight that steinarr killed(top tip: dont write while fighting off a fever. the first version of this got trashed because of that mistake)
christ's iron:

christ's iron, blazes doom
protects his land and squire all
far away, from roughest sea
came a great blaze to the lands of christ
maimed and burned many a peasant
the knight came to stop the blaze
to kill the fire of the norsemans heart
in the blaze was a fire freed
cursed blade meets knights arms
both sides bleed yet knight falters
christs iron, claimed by fire
failed to protect his land
carries on
guards his squire all he can
demands the fire to protect him best he can

For the record, while including this as an option is totally reasonable and I support such an inclusion, I will be voting against it every time until we actually test this on animals and see what it does. Which we should do, mind you, and likely before the next kid, but just for the record.

Unfortunately, you did not see it, but the Finale would've involved sunlight. It was not inspired by you, for further note.

That makes a lot of sense. His Martial Style being based on mining (or, at least, heavily related to it), a sunlight-based finale to reflect the end of time spent mining and returning to the sun follows very logically if thinking in symbolic terms.

Socializing the Headsman (Silver-Tongue: 6x1, 5x1, 4x2, 3x5, 2x1, 1x2) 6 Successes
It didn't take long for the Headsman to arrive though, as he had been busy giving one last goodbye to his wife and younger children, he had to get caught up with the records and goings on of camp. Which gives you the perfect opportunity to make your proposal.

You pause before the tent's flap and glance down at your person. A frown creases your lips as you smooth out the wrinkles on your dress as best you can. Though the worst wrinkles cling tenaciously to life, your work stills as the tail-end of a whispered conversation reaches your ears.

"-is what your fylgja saw?" The Headsman's whispers send sharp hisses into the air.

"If I wasn't, you wouldn't be seeing it," you fail to place the stoic, baritone voice answering the Headsman.

"This...," wood creaks as the Headsman leans back with a stressed sigh, "I'm not sure what to make of this, Bisi, but few possibilities are good."

Bisi? Commander? You frown as you try to place the kenning, but find little success. The slightest pulse of orthstirr draws your senses as the Headsman's breath catches in his throat. His chair creaks and footsteps tap against the ground as a hand grabs the tent flap by the corner.

The hand flings the tent open to reveal a solitary Headsman in an a well-lit room. Focused eyes soften as he lays them on you and his left hand falls away from his sword. "Ah, it's you." There's no hint of that earlier stress in his voice or eyes as he beckons you inside, "Please, have a seat."

Following his gesture and sitting at the small table, you watch as he lays out a painted jug of weak mead and a pair of polished wood cups next to a wax slate. Rings are carved into the surface of the cups, giving both a horn-like aesthetic. Given his status as a jarl, it would be far beneath his station to serve the beverage to you, so you help yourself to the sweet drink.

As he serves himself a cup, he pulls his sheathed sword free from his belt and leans it against the chair across the table. The wood creaks as he seats himself upon it. Clasping his hands together, he gives you his full attention, "Now then, Halla Skyfire, how can I help you today?"

You tap a steady rhythm into the table as the sweet liquid passes your lips. Swishing the drink around the cup, you consider how best to go about your proposal. You can't be too direct, lest you be seen as overly presumptuous. You also can't waffle about, lest you waste the Headsman's time.

"I have a modest proposal I'd like you to consider, regarding how the furs are to be distributed." There, that should do the trick!

The Headsman sighs and it strikes you that he must have had many conversations start like this throughout his life. "Halla, you're a rising star and you show great potential, but you're not someone who warrants special privileges."

You blink. "What? No, that's, uh, that's not what I'm asking about."

"Oh?" He quirks a brow, curiosity piqued.

"I'm planning on heading an expedition to Wessex and I was wondering if you could make it possible for the other felagi to sell their pelts to me, as I intend to trade the pelts for grain and food from England." The Headsman remains silent as you finish your proposal. Eventually, he surprises you with a chuckle and a smile.

"That is certainly more like the Halla Folkmarr told me of. My apologies for assuming you selfish." He nods his apology to you as his laughter trickles off. "However, I will not be doing that. Not," he holds up a hand to stop your protest, "because I think it a poor plan, but because you don't need my permission to conduct personal business."

"Oh," you certainly feel a bit silly now, but he's not done.

"While I have you here," he taps the writing tablet as he retrieves a stylus from his belt. He swiftly scratches a series of categories into the wax, making sure to leave plenty of room between the runes, "where would you like to be during the hunt? I know you recently purchased a pair of fine, strong horses, so you would be able to ride down any escapee wolves with the other possessors of quality horseflesh—those few that volunteered for the role."

He taps the other category, "You could also take a position in the main thrust, or be a scout, or work to contain any survivors from the initial scrum, or even participate in flushing out any dens that we may encounter along the way."

A brief glance says that you're the first he's asked, which means that you've got no idea where Abjorn and Steinarr will be.

Hm... Decisions, decisions.

Which position do you take?
[ ] With the riders, working to hunt down any that slip past the trappers
[ ] With the trappers, working to contain any survivors from the hunting teams
[ ] With the hunters, working to eliminate the wolves flushed out from dens
[ ] With the flushers, working to flush wolves from dens
[ ] With the scouts, working to find the wolves and their dens

0~0~0

AN: Not much to say here

No moratorium and a short vote.

If we'd rolled more successes he probably would've backed the play rather than just given permission. Ah, well, not everything works out perfectly and this is fine.

For the vote, I don't think riding the horses in combat is a good call...risks to the horses aside, we want to stick with Abjorn and he's too big to do that. Other than that I'm honestly not sure which position to go with. Hm. Let's do some analysis:

[ ] With the riders, working to hunt down any that slip past the trappers

-As stated, I think we'd have to split up with Abjorn on this one, so I'm against it.

[ ] With the trappers, working to contain any survivors from the hunting teams

-Hmmm. We're not really a trapper, so this might not be our best bet?
-EDIT: If we are the traps, then this is fine.

[ ] With the hunters, working to eliminate the wolves flushed out from dens

-This seems fine.

[ ] With the flushers, working to flush wolves from dens

-This also seems fine. Maybe fire is better for this?

[ ] With the scouts, working to find the wolves and their dens

-We could also do this, we have a relevant skill-set with Tracking and Stealth. Might be less glamorous? Or more? I dunno.

[X] With the trappers, working to contain any survivors from the hunting teams
[X] With the hunters, working to eliminate the wolves flushed out from dens
[X] With the flushers, working to flush wolves from dens
[X] With the scouts, working to find the wolves and their dens

So I guess I'm voting for these last three since all of them seem fine?

So, Bisi got out of the tent without us seeing them leave after a pulse of othstirr, meaning either invisibility, teleportation/traveling through a non material medium, or some sort of Astral projection that is not the fylgja, given the way they were discussing it.

Additionally a Jarl referring to someone as Commander is interesting. Something involving the War is probably afoot there, and dangerous enough that it rattles one of the strongest fighters in the Valley.

Ah, the Norse didn't ride horses in combat. You'd be pursuing wolves from horseback and then leaping off to fight on foot when you've got them cornered/otherwise vulnerable

Fair. This would still involve splitting from Abjorn given his inability to do that, I think, so my other objection stands.

I think all of them involve combat, though 'with the hunters' probably does involve the most straightforward fight.
