[X] There's some kind of a commotion in the middle of Asvir, go check it out

Come on, Halla's a curious girl and she's not afraid of the dark. :p

Yeah, i agree with Alectai.
If Halla had put the iron bars under the gambeson, i wouldn't be so worried... nor if we had come with family.
But neither happened.

She just displayed how good of a target she is:
Gambeson of good quality.
80 oz of bog iron in her neck
A silvered, if blank, armband
An aetgir.
Also, just on the cusp of being an adult... and she will be beautiful.

Im sure the commotion is important, and im really sad we wont know about it, but there is just too many stories about people with more money/bravery/stupidity than sense strutting around and meeting their end in the dark...

[X] Go home

This logic seems deeply wrong to me given how bandits seem to work in this culture. Bandits aren't gonna be any more likely to be out at night than during the day...if they decide Halla's a good target, they'll rob her either way...actually I think they might be less likely to be out at night due to being worried about draugr and the like. I'm pretty sure we need to worry more about supernatural threats at night than we do about bandits, honestly.

Which is not to say those are a lesser threat, just saying I think the wealth (such as it is...bog-iron is literally the cheapest available stuff, sure we have a fair bit of it, but still) is either a non-factor or a slight argument in favor of going home at night.

The point is that if you're looking for a smash and grab, or even just "Fire arrows from out of range", you do it when you've got a good view of the target.

Remember, we just pissed off the archenemy of our family. And time is passing. The last thing we want to do is give time to organize a response.

We just got a warning not to be undone by our own success from the skald just a bit back. Let's call it a day while we're ahead.

Uh, I'm sorry, I don't understand what you mean.

Yeah, in hindsight, I think he's actually telling us what Horra's battle plan is. That he somehow figured out how to make monsters but his monsters are going to turn on him when he tries to use them against us.

Still, I'm leery about pushing our luck further. We already have a great deal of gains, I want to consolidate them then push for a hat trick.

Yeah, I got the feeling that the skald's story had something to do with Horra, but I didn't know what exactly.

Absolutely. But this is something which you do not generally have at night in a rugged area.

Did we? I think they were already as pissed as they were gonna get. We did tell them we were in Asvir though, it's true.

But if they were gonna gather together people to attack us, which is possible, I suspect they've already done so and personally, I would probably rather deal with them at night, to be honest. We can do more stuff to maneuver the situation in the confusion of the dark than if it's light out.

As you note later, I very much do not think that's what the skald's story was about. I think he's very directly talking about what Horra's trick is...though whether the ending is a prophecy, or just a way to end a story I'm less sure of.

Haven't they always known that we're in the valley, though? Ever since the Hod incident at the lake, Horra should've been aware of Steinar's family living nearby.
do keep it in mind.
Before the match? the feud was something between the parents.
After the match? it has become personal.

This is how blood feuds usually last generations. the kids grow up learning it and how someone is the enemy. Then, they meet someone from the same family who also grew up hearing those stories just from the opposite side. There is some minor disagreement and the feud between parents expanded to the kids as well.

Eh, i don't think they know that. More that Success in one thing doesn't mean it can't cause your end. Hoisted by their own petards is a trope for a reason.
So is Things going horribly right.
Edit: dman, i even liked the comment where you say it. nvm me, just tired a bit.

My theory is that something someone either did, or did to someone else that had an effect on Halla sent her on the path she's going now/will go, eventually Halla will kill this person. Or atleast spell their doom.

Honestly, I am surprised it took us this long to cross the line between bold and stupid.
Oh well, at least, it happened when it only concerns us.

I do advocate that we better lose the exploding sphere if something attacks us in the dark than to get injured though.
...although... if its a daurg, we may be able to talk with it?
