It would be funny if we set up in Iceland, defeated the Enemy, and but failed to save the wider Norse cultivation system. In the sequel quests Iceland is a land shrouded in myth home to some of the most feared warriors on the planet. A place where Halla would be considered average for her age.

I have a dream. A dream of a future where Halla would be considered a weeny loser wimp for still being in Saga Establishment at twenty and people half her age can dribble her like a fiery basketball.
[X] Plan Let's Try Some Things
-[X] 59d6 Attack (40d6 tricks)
-[X] 26d6 Defense (25d6 tricks)
-[X] 0d6 Intercept
-[X] Activate Slipstream (-16 Orthstirr) and stay in the air with Ember-Wing Cloak to start with (-6 Orthstirr). After our ranged attacks, retrieve Sagaseeker with Fast Recall (-1 Orthstirr) and land, popping up Mire Ward (-6 Orthstirr) and waiting for Abjorn to come to us.
-[X] If Abjorn goes down at any point, start healing him and try kissing him gently. We're working on it.
-[X] Swoop towards him and make a 16d6+5 (w/Hugareida and Skyfire) Gale Spear attack against him (-4 Orthstirr) from just outside his melee range (but still definitely outside it), and follow it up with a 48d6+5 (w/Hugareida and Skyfire) Orthstirr-Enhancedx24 Sparkbomb attacks w/Puncture (-40 Orthstirr) using Gale Spear's wake to hopefully allow it to connect. If we manage to catch him in an Inertia-Arresting Throw use another 48d6+5 (w/Hugareida) Orthstirr-Enhancedx24 Sparkbomb attacks w/Puncture (-40 Orthstirr) on him while he is trapped, this one at point-blank range.
-[X] If he uses his wrestling counterattack on us and we still have them, use all three of our Fight Of Our Life uses and any remaining Stoker State dice on the opposed roll (+36 dice)
-[X] For the first melee attack he targets us with, if we haven't needed to contend with his wrestling counterattack yet, use Contested Movement and all three of our uses of Fight Of Our Life to defend (-3 Orthstirr, 28d6+5 defense) and counterattack with a Sparkbomb attack w/Puncture (-16 Orthstirr). For the second melee attack we receive (again, if we haven't needed to contend with his wrestling counterattack) use Contested Movement and all our Stoked Dice to defend (-3 Orthstirr, 24d6+5 defense) and counterattack with a Sparkbomb attack w/Puncture (-16 Orthstirr). For either, if they fail to defend abort to Focused Guard if stationary (-14 Orthstirr) or Sidestep if he somehow manages to attack us in the air (-2 Orthstirr). For the third melee attack he uses against us (or the first if we've previously needed to deal with his wrestling counterattack), defend with a 50d6 Orthstirr-Enhanced x30 Inertia-Arresting Throw (-35 Orthstirr) to trap him in place momentarily, and default to the same Perfect Defenses if that fails and it's an option.
-[X] After that, or in regards to ranged attacks, by default use Atgeir Bodyguard to defend against everything. In response to anything that gets through Atgeir Bodyguard use Halting Vortex (-4 Orthstirr) and/or Focused Guard (-14 Orthstirr) as appropriate, and if something gets through those use up to five 58d6+9 Reinforcedx58 Hefty-Halter Chop defenses (-60 Orthstirr each).
-[X] Tactics – So, this is basically trying every remaining idea we have to land a Sparkbomb and seeing what works. We obviously stop after landing another. We start by swooping at him again, this time launching a Gale Spear (which will do nothing) but following it up with a Sparkbomb using the slipstream. If that doesn't work, we fly away, grab Sagaseeker, and assume a melee stance to hopefully get him to come to us, using Mire Ward and Contested Movement to hopefully hit him with a counterattack when he attacks, and using IAT as a final try if those don't work and we're still up and not grappled.

You lock eyes with your husband and, impossibly, he breaks first. A sly grin slides up his face as he snorts and shakes his head.
"You wanna know something, Halla?" Light glints off his eyes as he smiles, "That serious expression is a good look on you. Whenever I see it, all I think is 'my beautiful wife'."
You scowl and shake your fist at him—though neither have any heat. "Nice effort, o husband mine, but you'll have to try harder than that to knock me off my game!"
Abjorn mutters something about 'knocking' and offers a shrugs, "Worth a shot."
Your answer is a Gale Spear to the face. His head snaps rearwards as he stumbles a half-step back, but quickly regains his composure. He snorts through pristine nostrils, his eyes meeting yours as the follow-up Sparkbomb arrives—mere moments away from slamming into his handsome face.
His fingers twitch as an Eyetalked message reaches your mind, 'You're a good teacher, Halla.' Shield Sacrificed
His discarded shield leaps to his hand as he swivels on the spot. The wood just barely manages to slide in between him and the trick in time, but do it it does as sparking fire meets hardened wood. Smoke engulfs him as splinters go flying.
As the smoke clears and the ruined wreck of his shield hits the ground, all you can think of is how this was entirely your fault. After all, you did teach him Recall.
Your hair whips in the wind as Abjorn leans in, grinning all the while. You'd almost managed to forget that, despite the differences in personality, he loves fighting just as much as you do.
"I'm not certain that my tricks can beat that bodyguard of yours, but I've got something in mind that just might do the trick" Fist against palm strikes a meaty slap as skin meets skin. His grin widens to a full-blown smile as he bends slightly at the knees. "My turn."
The ground dents inwards as he launches himself at great speeds. His fist draws back as his rust-red orthstirr trails off his knuckles. Your eyes widen as it tickles your memories. Just where have you seen this move before?
Your ghostly atgeir descends in that moment and sliding in between his fist and you with little fanfare to mark the occasion. His knuckles strike the flat of the spectral blade and, for a moment, you wonder if you witnessed all there was to see. Tree-Split Trick
And then cracks spiderweb up and down the atgeir's length as an all too familiar sound echoes across the field and your soul alike. The taste of mutton dances across your lips as your weapon shatters before your very eyes—just like that tree did, all those years ago.
There are any number of things you could do to stop Abjorn's ever-closer fist. But, as it uncurls into a gentle, loving palm, you find that you just don't have it in you to resist.
Ashen Kiss slips from your fingers as you melt into Abjorn's warm embrace.
This time, oh this time you'll kiss him right.

Abjorn's life was very sad, and then Halla happened and went "HAHA FUCK THAT WELCOME TO FUN TRAIN!"
Things have been great ever since.
Anyhow! Either way, it's time to break open the Reward Die stash! Looks like we don't have cute nin-nin-whoosh girl, but ninja boi is fine too.
So I'm thinking, we want to lock out Bloodlust and Wrathful, simply because Next Boy's got that Shadow Affinity which'll probably make him a terror as a scout, but that requires him to be patient if need be.
@Imperial Fister two important things, one comment, and a question:
1. During discussion of our first kid I presented a math analysis that the kid should wind up with 6 rolled Traits from the primary Traits list and only 2 from the Recessives. I think this got forgotten for Hallbjorn (who got 5 primary and 3 Recessives) and while that's fine, we really should stick with 6/2 for math reasons.
2. Can Abjorn teach us Fang? If not, what's the prerequisite we're not meeting?
Fuck that. Invest some of it into Fylgja? Sure!
But fuck putting all of it into boring statgrind with how much of a pain it is to get things researcherd and experimented with. (Which is important for learning about how the powersystem and cultivation works)
I'm not as sure about that as you are. Ignoring the fact that we regularly throw ourselves into peril against people as strong or stronger than us, I imagine each stage of cultivation has more traps than the ones before it. Halla may have been able to dance amongst the landmines so far, but that luck will run out one day and Ymir will squash us flat.
This is only true if we don't slow down our cultivation a little. I think getting our kids to adulthood without Halla exploding should be a priority...if that means we delay the 3rd Realm a bit and don't hit the 4th until they are in fact adults, I'd consider that worth it for both 'not wanting this to be a complete tragedy' and mechanical reasons involving training said kids (and thus having a more badass successor).
We then start speeding up again and probably don't make it nearly as long once we're working the cultivation research hard, but that's another matter.
I don't really see it as premature. Having long term plans in this sort of generational quest seems like a good idea. You guys planned what you wanted for a successor long before Sigurdr came along and fit the mold you had cast for him. Alectai first came up with the idea of a wandering cultivator for life two before Halla even got married.
But we've got Vestfold in the next two years or so, then the Big War. Which might very well be the period where Halla probably dies. We're not lacking in events.

Locking our Wrathful is fine, but Bloodlust soft-lockouts Hemophobia, so if we lock out Bloodlust we should also lock out Hemophobia so we don't have another Hallbjorn incident.

The problem is that apparently double-tapping Bloodlust is even worse than Asgeirr's battery of Literal Cancer traits mutually reinforcing each other.
It's telling that while I was screaming about how he had Wrathful + Bloodlust + Stubborn, IF was telling us it was going to be Eyvor as our Problem Child.
That being said, one die should be enough to lock out a Recessive trait barring really awful luck. I think it's 2 reward dice for lock-ins?
Honestly, with Abjron speccing into Glima and Fang he doesn't really need much Orthstirr to break someone. Given the amount of Orthstirr those tricks costs.

Hair of Red must have been when Halla freed Abjorn from that tree trunk.
Not sure how How Dare You came - Was it when Sverre tried to kiss Halla, or the Walk on the Ice incident?
Same for Shame to See Her Hurt. Halla hasn't been injured (endurance damage) before the Tree Incident.. I think?
Bear Any Load for Her was the Tree Incident, of course.
Was Red Handprint that time Forkbeard electrocuted us?
I wonder how Horrid Dreams, A Light in the Darkness and Bloodstained smile came by. The exact incidents, anyway..
Just Like Him was probably the time Abjorn nearly hit us.
Okay, now stuff other than the single Question and Comment on the post itself:
Firstly and most importantly: Awww, I just wanna hug Abjorn now.
Now, mechanics: Overloading too much on one thing is risky in case it overshoots. an extra 54 dice to Fylgja or thereabouts would make it a bit problematic. We can definitely go to 60 Training Dice on Fylgja (after doubling) or something like that, though. Then use the rest on, like, more Glima, Fang if it's an option, maybe some Glima Tricks to Rough or thereabouts, the 'guiding wind' thing I mentioned previously as a Gale Trick to expand Sparkbomb's range, some of the new seidr spells we're gonna get access to...we have options.
For the kid: I'm with Shard, I think. Bloodlust is actually a good Trait and there are so many things you should lock out before it. Wrathful is problematic and thus fine, but Bloodlust is handy.
My own plan:
[X] Plan Continue The Basics
-[X] Vows of Love: Lock in Godly Luck
-[X] Hamingja: Lock in Seeing Eyes
-[X] Lock in Snake's Tongue - 2 Reward Dice courtesy of @DeadmanwalkingXI (includes replenishing die if possible, which the sheet is showing as used, but should've replenished with the new year, I think?)
-[X] Lock in Giant's Blood - 2 Reward Dice courtesy of @Shard
-[X] Lock in Friendly - 2 Reward Dice courtesy of @Silverking
-[X] Lock in Born With A Hammer In Hand - 2 Reward Dice courtesy of @fearsome hill
-[X] Lock in Stoic Silence - 2 Reward Dice courtesy of @Alectai
-[X] Lock Out Hemophobia, Low Self-Control, Dirty, Beardless, Undersized, Unlucky, and Unintelligent - 7 Reward Dice courtesy of @Shard
-[X] Lock out Advanced Bloodlust and Lock In Bloodlust - 3 Reward Dice. 1 courtesy of @Toboe 1 courtesy of @Simon_Jester and 1 courtesy of @DeadmanwalkingXI
-[X] Note: With 6 Traits from Halla and Abjorn locked in, all other non-recessives are locked out by default.
And then we go from there (I will add any expenditures people make to the plan, just to keep track). I'm not unwilling to burn my other Reward Dice, but I'd like to not be the only one or stuck only investing in the basics so I'm waiting for other people to invest a bit.
I think Friendly is probably one of our best possible Traits (other than the stat-boosters) and adding it is thus very good. Our other best Trait we can easily lock in is probably Born With A Hammer In Hand, and I'm very tempted to lock that in myself, and may do so if other people come up with the Reward Dice for Giant's Blood and Friendly. Bold is also really good if we're looking for things to Lock In. As is Stoic Silence and Bearheaded. Stoic Silence is really appropriate, too, so I might do that over Hammer In Hand if nobody else does.
The problem is that apparently double-tapping Bloodlust is even worse than Asgeirr's battery of Literal Cancer traits mutually reinforcing each other.

That being said, one die should be enough to lock out a Recessive trait.
Only if we don't give her healthy outlets for that Bloodlust. Which I think we can, frankly. Obviously, if you want to lock it out on your own, they're your Reward Dice, but I'm not convinced locking out Bloodlust is a good idea. And I believe 1 die locks out basically anything, we need 2 to lock things in.
