Though by far my favorite part of writing up this chapter was Ciaran telling Anakin about Vectivus; obviously I took my inspiration for that scene from Sidious telling him about Plagueis in canon but I fell in love with the idea of making Anakin the more dominant figure of the two in that conversation despite him not saying anything, giving a glimpse of what it would be like for a normal Force user to feel the sheer power of The Chosen One. I think it turned out great, though obviously your opinions may differ.

Oh yes, I really liked Ciaran's wariness as the conversation continued.

Even though she initiated the conversation Anakin didn't even participate but still kept her talking through sheer presence.

Captured that feeling of alarm and awe very well.

Ah, I am glad to see Borvo has profited immensely from the operation. Perhaps now he can expand his operations to both the core worlds and the mid-rim, thus increasing his influence and profits.

Hm, if Anakin should ever be introduced to the teachings of Darth Vectivus, I think it would be good for him, just as it has been for Asajj.

If Ciaran has a chance to talk to Anakin again, she should continue about Meetra Surik, Revan, and the problems with the Council of that era. Anakin may find it reflects his own situation and the stagnation of the Jedi of this era as well, and Meetra is a worthy role model for Anakin as well. For Revan, it is more complicated, but I think if nothing else, learning more about Revan and Kreia would help Anakin develop a more complex, nuanced perspective, help him see that life is not so simple, so black and white. If Ciaran knows about Zayne Carrick as well, she should speak to Anakin about him too. Despite being cast out from the Order, he did much good for the galaxy, a good and kind-hearted man.

Of course, if Anakin later thinks about leaving the Order to do good for the galaxy in his own way, it may have become harder to make the choice, considering he now has Ahsoka as an apprentice, and he would probably feel guilty about just leaving her. Still, I suppose if Anakin did become set in his decision to leave, he would at least make arrangements for a good replacement for Ahsoka to apprentice to. If Ahsoka insisted, he might even take her with him, though he would probably try to talk her out of it and tell her to leave the decision until after she has become a knight, saying that even though the Order did not work out for him, she should give it a chance to see if it is the path for her.

At this point, I am starting to wish for a Force Ghost!Darth Vectivus(I don't know if he has one, but for the purposes of this quest he could...) interlude. Because who'd have thought his "teachings" and life would be the thing to change up the galaxy(I doubt he ever did!)??? He's already helped us, Asajj, and it looks like his outlook may be(or may become one of the factors) influencing Anakin. How many more lives will his teachings touch and change? I can't wait to find out!

All in all This turn was... literally have no words.

Though thinking about next turn, how about we "combine" some avenues:

• Ciaran's Learning + Cheriss Sair's new body (I think something along this just more Torguta, and it might give better prosthetics)
Through which we might go to:
• Ciaran's Learning + Cheriss Sair + Raith Sienar + New ship design (suggest something extravaganza/carrier like this, then we can go with @NexysDhyArchen "Advanced Fighter Craft")

Question @Dr. Snark . Has it ever been said if Dooku or Sidious ever figured out that we ruined their blackmail on us? Or do they just no longer care?

Hm. Which systems are actually part of the CNS? So far all I can remember being mentioned is Mandalor and Kalee?

Per Wookiepedia, canon mentions that the notable members of CNS are Duchess Satine (Mandalore), Kin Robb (senator for Taris) and Tal Merrik (prince from Kalevala). Kalevala appears to be part of the Mandalore system, so no luck there. However, Taris is pretty sizable.

It's not listed under CNS, but Corellia apparently closed its borders to both the Republic and the CIS in the early days of the war.
Garm Bel Iblis became the Senator of Corellia in 35 BBY[37] and represented the world during the Separatist Crisis in 22 BBY.[38] After a week of secret meetings with Diktat Shyla Merricope, Bel Iblis announced on 13:3:13 GrS that Corellia would close its borders and abstain from the upcoming vote on the Military Creation Act, invoking Contemplanys Hermi, an obscure clause in the Galactic Constitution that allowed Corellia to unilaterally withdraw from the Galactic Senate for the duration of the Separatist Crisis.[39] The closure of Corellia's borders was carried out on 13:3:14.[40]
If they aren't a member of CNS already, we should certainly pursue them ASAP and draw to induct them into our member rolls. Corellia would be a massive prestige boost, as it is one of the heavily-populated Core Worlds. They're also "well known for their prowess with starships," which would come in handy now that we're working closely with Sienar.

Wookiepedia also mentions that Satine was in negotiations with Onaconda Farr (senator for Rodia) and Orn Free Taa (senator for Ryloth and leader of the 'Rim faction') to 'recruit' them for the CNS. It doesn't mention if she was successful -- on the other hand, we know that Ciaran quite possibly was, given the critical successes we scored in the early years of war. Either one would be a coup for the CNS in its early years.

As for other allies in this timeline... we know that Ciaran managed to sway quite a few more systems to join the CNS in its infancy:
[X] Damn Neutrals: You are quite sure that there are some systems that would love nothing more than just try to sit back and let the whole war blow over. It might be an idea to ensure that they do try, since either they will succeed and those systems will become crossroads of trade and espionage once a war breaks out or both factions will immideately try to fight each other over these systems and stall conflict even more. Chance of Success: 70% Reward: ?

Required: 30 Rolled: 71+5+9+10 (Omake)=95

With your urging, a few manipulations and simply finding the right people you managed to help an alliance to form that pre-emptively wants to stay neutral in the coming war. Something, something Council of Neutral Systems. Now its just a matter of seeing how this will work out for them during the war. Reward: Involved with the Council of Neutral Systems Has slightly more members than in Canon
And we know that we persuaded General Grievous to bring Kalee into the CNS as well:
[X] Exit Stage left: Alternatively you could encourage them to talk with the CNS and navigate their way out of the war. Success in this regard would heavily discourage the CIS from even considering an attack and ruin their relationship with the Huk. Although you are quite sure that there are going to be some quite specific people that will complain about dragging a warrior race into the CNS. Chance of Success: 60% Reward: Kaleesh join the CNS

Required: 40 Rolled: 86+9+10=105

The Kaleesh have joined the CNS flawlessly with most resistance to the idea having been steamrolled. Even the fact that it is at what feels like the other end of the galaxy doesn't even stop it due to your men arranging for unobstructed passage from the Kaleesh systems through Republic space to the CNS systems. Also, Grievous is beating their army into shape. Reward: Kaleesh joined the CNS, Grievous is training their army

Apart from that, I don't know if we have specific details of who is in or out of our little empire.

If someone wants to pick up the ball, that might be a great idea for an omake -- some sort of "CNS Council meeting" with representatives from the major systems talking about Ciaran's latest adventure, that sort of thing. If you write it well enough, who knows, maybe Dr. Snark will let us retcon Corellia as one of the CNS founding members... :D

so does anyone else suspect introducing Anakin to the idea that there is more to the force than jedi and sith is going to result in something major? I mean if someone that high profile publicly goes grey it could well start a movement.

Why would Anakin go grey when he can just grow closer to his good friend Palps? After all, Ciaran just confirmed for him that not all Sith are evil. And he knows what a kindly old man the Chancellor is.

Regarding the update itself:

I'm not sure if Ciaran has been hit by a stupid stick because she's falling to the dark side (dark side corruption is clearly pretty bad for the brain cells if you look at how most force users go stupid after they fall), or if she's just been hit by a random stupid stick here.

Revealing that she has the Scimitar to Sienar? She may not know who the original owner was, but she should know that it was someone very rich, up to bad things and who knew Sienar. Leaking information that may attract unknown and powerful enemies is pretty unwise. (Though amusingly, I bet Ciaran just convinced Sienar that she is a very trusted associate of the Scimitar's buyer. I wonder how Palps arranged that deal? It would be fun if Tarkin were the one who had commissioned the job for Palps, since Tarkin was both close to Palps and a friend of Sienar at that point. Gives me fun ideas for interludes between Tarkin and Sienar.)

And telling Anakin (a troubled boy and Jedi - an organization that clearly trains its members poorly in dealing with secrets, what with the way they all blunder around like banthas in the dark in Ciaran's world) about the teachings of Darth Vectivus? That's just asking for the information to be leaked every-which-way.

Ciaran is supposed to be an information broker - she's supposed to be the sort of person who is good at keeping secrets so she can make money off of them. This update she seemed to have been replaced by a leaky colander.

Random question for @Dr. Snark: our current roster of Abyss Apprentices and Agents are mostly recruited from within our organization. However, there are plenty of disaffected Jedi, Dark Jedi, Sith, or unaffiliated Force User faction that we learned about (IC) or can learn about in this quest.
[X] Curious traditions:
With the informations of the report and the data from the datachips from Damask Holdings it was rather easy to sift through the Holonet for historic reports, books or gods know what else on those various groups of Forcer Users. Not much to actually be found, but still. Seems like the Jedi are only as present as they are due to being the most active, their way of 'recruitment' and the everpresent backing through the Republic. Hmmm... Reward: You now know about: The Luka Sene (allready knew them before), The Blazing Chain, Tyia adepts, Baran Do Sages, Bando Gora, Witches of Dathomir, Iron Knights, +2 on Lore

[X] Curious traditions 2.0:
It is very interesting to see how many groups aside from the Jedi actually exist. In fact, you have found informations about two more after a lot... A LOT... of searching. In fact, it is once again obvious why barely anyone knows any group aside from the Jedi. Every other group is far too obscure while the rest of the Galaxy goes 'Jedi this, Jedi that'. Reward: Knowledge about the Nightsisters and Zeison Sha.

Based on my previous post, listing the various non-Jedi Force Traditions we're aware of, I wanted to give more detail about possible avenues for additional Force research or recruitment for our 'Gray Order':

Luka Sene: education-centric organization, based on Miralukan homeworld of Alpheridies. Specializes in:
  • Farsight: vague impressions/images of other places & times. Can detect when friends are in danger, examine details of past events, predict probable outcome of current course of action. Can be used for combat prediction. Can be used for out-of-body reconnaissance.
  • Field Detection: unique ability to perceive energy fields, including shield generators, communication devices, sensors, other electronics.
Blazing Chain: combat-centric organization of nomadic pirate fleets. Specializes in:
  • Gunslinging: "redirect blaster bolts, missiles, physical projectiles in midflight to shoot around corners, correct misses," etc.
  • Combat psychology: increase chance of enemies panicking during combat.
Tyia Adepts: faith-centric organization, based on Revwien homework of Revyia. Specializes in:
  • Control: mastery over self, including tutaminis (energy absorption), curato salva (self healing), and altus sopor (Force immersion and stealth).
  • Alter: heightened 'Control' at cost of increased difficulty in use of 'Alter' skills.
Baran Do Sages: government-centric organization, based on Kel Dor homework of Dorin. Specializes in:
  • Sense of Nature: ability to detect weather phenomena and impending natural disasters
  • Force Vision: ability to perceive future events
  • Electric Judgment: a powerful light-sided version of Force Lightning
Bando Gora Cult: faith-centric organization of deathcult criminals and terrorists, based on the moon planet of Kohlma. Slaughtered by Jango Fett in aftermath of Naboo crisis. Fett's success here was reason he was selected as Clone Army template:
  • Unknown abilities.
Witches of Dathomir: combat-centric world of matriarchal clans, based on the planet of Dathomir. Specializes in:
  • Allyan Magic: use of Force through 'spells' (words and rituals), listed in 'Book of Laws'. Individuals specialize in specific techniques, like healing, Force Whirlwind, etc.
Nightsisters: combat-centric clan of dark-sided exiles based on the planet of Dathomir. Specializes in:
  • Shadow Magic: use of Force through spells listed in 'Book of Shadows'.
  • Spirit Ichor: invocation of supernatural spirits for power, especially the Twin Deities (aka The Ones, avatars of the Force who live on the planet Mortis). Manifests as green smoke, can be used for most other effects (below)
  • Force Illusions: projects an image into another's mind, limited only by user's imagination. Includes masquerade (disguises own appearance).
  • Force Weapon: imbues weapon with Force, making them unbreakable even to lightsabers
  • Force Sight: ability to perceive possible futures. Called 'Heartshadow' on Dathomir.
  • Conjuration: ability to conjure physical objects. Used by Mother Talzin to conjure a lightsaber (!) when fighting Mace Windu.
  • Nature Manipulation: ability to manipulate weather patterns
  • Totem Magic: Force artifacts capable of various effects, some unknown or irreplicable even to Sith (such as 'Talismans of Transformation'). Can also be used to curse enemies from afar using spirit idols, similar to voodoo dolls.
  • Physical Enhancement: dark ritual injecting Force energy into bone and muscle, enhancing speed, strength, agility, even height
  • Water of Life: manipulation of spirit ichor for healing purposes. Can also grant near invisibility, among other effects.
Iron Knights: combat-centric organization of Shard (silicon-based life requiring droid bodies for mobility), based on planet of Dweem. Specializes in:
  • Unknown abilities
Zeison Sha: survival-centric organization based on planet of Yanibar. Specializes in:
  • Telekinesis: manipulates Force to push, pull, hurl, levitate, smash, crush, etc. Trained to be instinctual and accomplished with ease. Can wrap Force around body to create telekinetic shield against projectiles and other weapons.
  • Disc Blade: ranged weapon unique to Zeison Sha. Can be manipulated by telekinesis. Can be imbued as a 'Force Weapon'

We know that Cheriss Sair is a Shard from Dweem, and (while not an Iron Knight herself) knows instinctively how to use the Force to sustain her life.

We also know (in-character?) Asajj Ventress is a former Witch/Nightsister from Dathomir, who received extensive force training long before turning to the Sith.

We also recruited Tyro Torwin, a former Blazing Chain captain and pirate, as our Lore advisor and 'Abyss Agent' instructor.

Is there any chance we could (now or later) send one or more of these Heroes on an expedition to try to recruit more of their respective faction for our nascent Grey Jedi order? Asajj would have to wait until we're confident in her integration with the Abyss Watchers (plus she'd need to avoid Palpatine's notice...) but is there anything keeping Cheriss from visiting her kin on Dweem?

I also wanted to remind you about the 'Green Jedi' of Corellia, and the possibility of incorporating them into our Force faction as well.

(If anyone else knows/remembers any other unaffiliated Force factions that might be ripe for recruiting, let me know!)

Second random question for @Dr. Snark: whatever happened to Shmi Skywalker?
3. Skywalker ran off about two days later to somewhere else. Considering his temper Gulan took the liberty to send some men after him.
Shmi is alive. The advantage of having the only medics in the entire system at hand because your whole organisation consists of paranoid and opportunistic maniacs. Result: Anakin not going fully psycho just yet.
We know she survived the Tusken raiders with our help -- did we ever do anything about that? She's the mother of the most powerful Jedi of this generation, which means she represents leverage. Did we ever extend an offer to hire her, or did she just return to the Lars homestead?

Given that our particular brand of Force User doesn't shy away from attachment or emotion, should we play on that (his obvious attachment to his mother, to the extent of taking an off-book mission to rescue her) to draw him out of the Jedi Order?

And speaking of obvious attachment:
"Of course," Ciaran said, noticing Anakin and Padme walking together nearby.
...
While Anakin didn't see Ciaran coming closer at first, Padme did and became clearly nervous when she noticed. Anakin was about to ask what was wrong before-

"Padme!~"
...
"Speaking of which, do you mind if I speak with him alone for just a moment?" Ciaran asked of Padme.

Padme folded her arms and raised an eyebrow.

"I promise it won't involve dragging him to a bar or anything like that."

Padme still said nothing.

"And it won't involve any strippers like that one time."

Anakin started to look between the two rapidly as both his and Padme's faces started to turn bright red. "F-fine!" she manged to get out, before she briskly walked away
Given their prudery, it doesn't seem like they're married, but they certainly are orbiting each other in a very non-Jedi way.... Should we encourage this? Or leverage it to drive Anakin away from the Jedi and into our faction? Or ignore it completely and let the galaxy work itself out? Or actively discourage it, given what little we know & have seen of Anakin's emotional health? ("Padme, trust me, you can do so much better.")

Taris is right next to Mandalore - next map square to the galactic west. That fits with the indications that the canon CNS was a fairly tight cluster around Mandalore.

It's not listed under CNS, but Corellia apparently closed its borders to both the Republic and the CIS in the early days of the war.

I got the impression that Corellia re-joined the Republic and the war effort pretty quick. You are right that they would be a heck of a coup though. And it would give the CNS two of the galaxy's main shipyards - one of them being one of the real centers of excellence.

Ryloth is part of Hutt space apparently and Rodia is on the border of Hutt space and Republic space. Both are on the opposite side of the galaxy from Mandalore. Clearly, Satine had grand ambitions for the scope of the CNS' scale, even if its not clear if she succeeded in them.

All he wanted was to make loadsamoney, not be an inspiration!

If that were true, he wouldn't have made a holocron. He clearly wanted some sort of legacy.

That's just asking for the information to be leaked every-which-way.

Darth Vectivus is just an obscure piece of lore rather than a secret. It's far from common knowledge, but in the way most people don't know who was the duke of a random part of France in was in 1345 rather than how most people don't know the layout of the pentagon. Now mentioning this to a Jedi was risky, but it's not hard to see anakin is having doubts about the jedi, and for a black and white thinking jedi that means falling to the dark side. Given mr flash bang seems to have attached himself to Padma I can see her putting making sure that doesn't happen fairly high on her priority list. It also won us a bit of trust from him, witch is no small thing.

Revealing that she has the Scimitar to Sienar? She may not know who the original owner was, but she should know that it was someone very rich, up to bad things and who knew Sienar. Leaking information that may attract unknown and powerful enemies is pretty unwise.

eh, I can see it as a calculated risk. she revealed she had come into possession of a likely super illegal ship they had made, and leveraged that into possibly having them sell her more. If she knew that it was used by Darth Sidious personal apprentice she would likely have been a lot more secretive about it, but right now she probably thinks it was just some high-end assassin or separatist black ops team.

Did we just accidently convince Anakin that we're a Sith Lord and start recruiting him!?
That's one way to look at things.

The other way is that we are a retired Sith lord who wants no trouble. Remember, the Jedi don't know that much about the Sith, so the name Vectivius may be previously unknown to them.

Were I Anakin, my first thought would be that Ciaran is Darth Vectivius, and is defecting from the Sith order. That's the reason for all the talk about not wanting to destroy the Republic or the Jedi order, and the reason for not trusting Obi-Wan with that information (as Ciaran would be vary of him trying to sword her here and there).

Bonus points for having a lightsaber, being fairly proficient in Makashi, owning Scimitar and initially being a Darth Plageuos asset.

Double bonus points if some of this leaks to Palpy and he starts to believe Ciaran to be a secret apprentice of Darth Plageous attempting to hide in plain sight, similar to him.

We need to continue our conversation with Anakin offering him new perspectives and make sure Mettra Suri become the role model of what he one to be, also i have no trouble if he and Padme form a relationship.

So.. we're totally gonna get Sienar to make us a Customised Capital-Class Ship right?

Actually his force ghost is still around. He's hanging out at his secret mansion that he built into the Dark-Side Asteroid that started his path.
