a "flat-screen" television

I'm sorry but when exactly is this quest supposed to be taking place? Because the first prototype flat screen tvs hit the market IRL in the mid to late 80s and the fact Wayne industries released something suspiciously like Microsoft word makes me suspect this is the late 80s to early 90s aka when the DCAU premiered.

Obviously this insult to our phone supremacy must be answered, but I don't see a reason to go out of our way to compete with any of the other stuff they're doing. We've already got more product options than we know what to do with without letting Wayne set the agenda.

What's his name, by the way? He can't just call himself "President Bane."
He has no legal name besides Bane. As such "Bane" is not just an alias but also the closest thing he has to a legal name. As such he would call himself President Bane.
OK, @King crimson , may I ask if we know what (if any) hero units Lois was relying on here?
I cannot answer this beyond saying multiple hero units and a trait were involved.
[] Give bonuses to employees who refused to talk to Lois Lane

Or can that somehow be folded into the larger 'give bonuses' action? Because I feel like those people deserve a reward.
I can fold it into the give employees bonus option. I will say the DIR is quite effective at terrifying people into staying quiet (you have your own secret police for the company essentially)

There is no exact time period I'm working with but I have stated that if I absolutely had to put a time period on it I would have put it in the 90s when the DCAU came out. The tech level is a bit iffy due to comic booky stuff but yeah you're right on the money on when the time period would be if I absolutely had to pick a time period for it. Word processors were butterflied to occur a bit later but yeah overall you are correct.

Wayne Enterprises did not invent the flat screen but it is the first to begin mass marketing them to an extent.

Generalissimo Bane works too.

Ah-HA.

That's a very interesting option.

Now, the main reason for us to really want to catch Vincent Edge is so that we can get Intergang-related information out of him, IMO- and to be very very sure that he's taken off the board permanently.

Indulging petty sadism isn't especially helpful to us, after all.

The downside is, if Edge is handed over to us, the US government (who wants him) won't know where he went. They'll think he's still alive, or might be still alive. That's going to cause some sort of problem down the line.

It's ok, we propose a win-win option. We rent Edge from Bane and return him back alive after we are done so Bane can turn Edge over to Eiling. If Edge dies in our custody, we pay Bane full price for his loss.

Now we just need to give Edge a full body scan with science and magic before dosing him with pheremones for interrogation. Too bad we dont have a psychic division yet. Note to self: Get Joseph Wilson on payroll.

On the other hand, we now have a good specific target to fund Captain Cold's research. If we can get one or two Learning characters who work well with him (that DC 89 is a toughie), we can do "learn about cold" and match WayneTech's chambers, competing with him- if we choose to bother.

I think we can just put Lenny on reverse engineering the Wayne Cryotech 1st when we buy it to lower the DCs for Learning about Cold.

Is there ever going to be an option like making a keylogger or malware, loading it to a usb flashdrive, and just giving them away, or leaving them out in the open in places where Wayne Enterprises employees hang out (obviously with more subtlety than how I said it)? Do flash drives exist in this world or can we make them? I know email exists but have seen no mention of usb devices (phone charger that connects to computer maybe)? The info page said laptops are a thing but pricey, can we work on making them cheaper (and pre-loaded with our apps/tech)?

It's the mid-90s, yes.

So Wayne is indeed taking the market by storm by marketing the first really economical flat screen TVs, and by a word processor superior to anything previously extant. Bear in mind that Microsoft doesn't exist in the DCQU and the closest analogue is Kord Communications, who are also competitors of ours and have already rolled out a search engine, Yahoo Buggle.

I quite agree.

OK that is hilarious.

To be fair, if ANYONE in the DCQU would have a trait conferring massive godlike bonuses to Investigate actions, it'd be Lois Lane. That would also help to model the fact that she's a really good investigative journalist, without also being a demented super-ninja infiltrator and assassin who can sneak up on Batman.

I can fold it into the give employees bonus option. I will say the DIR is quite effective at terrifying people into staying quiet (you have your own secret police for the company essentially)
Well that's great and all, but I want to make sure we have carrots as well as sticks. Rewarding employees who do exactly what we want them to do is important, because sooner or later DIR is going to drop the ball and someone will find a way to leak to the press.

I think we can just put Lenny on reverse engineering the Wayne Cryotech 1st when we buy it to lower the DCs for Learning about Cold.
Yeah, though in that case we might not want to specifically market cryo-chambers ourselves. I don't want one of Wayne's actions to be

[] Sue LexCorp for industrial espionage

Now we just need to give Edge a full body scan with science and magic before dosing him with pheremones for interrogation.
Further complication: We need to interrogate Edge without Edge knowing what's going on, in that case. Because he'll talk to future interrogators, and he'll tell them he was moved around and interrogated by someone other than Bane's men.

I don't know if it's actually worth the trouble. Vincent Edge was a problem for us when he had a huge corporation, but we destroyed that corporation. Now he's only relevant insofar as he knows Intergang secrets, and we have other avenues for learning those. It's not that I don't want to nab him, but under these specific circumstances, with a valuable ally (the US government in general and Eiling in particular) wanting him...

Well, remember what happened to us in Markovia. We tried to grab the prize for ourselves, didn't accomplish very much, and antagonized an ally.

I'm pretty sure there's a "commit industrial espionage" option in there somewhere, and if there is, writing in "and do it to Wayne Enterprises" wouldn't be hard.

All that other stuff would be under 'improve computers.'

The problem is that 'improve computers' seems to get harder and harder DC all the time, much faster than we can unlock all the stuff on the tech tree that exists in real life.

Making our phones better at general computer activities is probably the better approach for us. Maybe scale them up to a tablet.
This. Build on our core competencies, don't try to do everything.

The info page was about stuff at the start of the quest and as such some of the information is outdated since you have improved computers a bit.

There is an option to do something similar under an industrial espionage option I believe.

"Data drives" exist (basically Flash drives but bigger). The option to improve them falls under learn about computers.

True. We can pay for the privilege of having Ozzy spit in Edge's face and watch as he is turned over to Eiling's custody? Ozzy & Eiling are friends after all, we also provide Kathrene & Serial Peacemaking as extra security just in case.

This is true from a business point of view, but what I'm hoping for is installing background programs to perhaps monitor communications/activity. Its what we have with LexPhones.

[ ] Sabotage a rival company
DC 3 for Stagg Enterprises, DC 3 for S.T.A.R. Labs DC 125 for Wayne Enterprises, DC 107 for Kord Communications, DC 64 for Alva Technologies, DC 62 for Queen Industries. Everything is fair play in the corporate world and making sure your rivals can't compete with you through unsavory means is fair play. You're sure everyone else would like to do the same to you. You're just so much better at it than them.

Yup found it, but rather than sabotage I was hoping to hack into them and just monitor activity, and then I saw this

[ ] Hack into a rival companies records
DC ??? Likewise it is never good to underestimate your opponents. Breaking into their records will enable you to gain some valuable information to give you a leg up on the competition

Didn't make the connection since it didn't have names and DCs listed

Hm.

I would think that the tech would still be limited to something like Zip drives, but someone may have been working on that in the background.

Hmm. Now THAT seems reasonable and fair. We owe Oswald that much.

I mean, yes, but realistically we can't do everything.

Dominating the mobile device market from the ground up? Lex can do that, and in the process get a LOT of information.

Trying to dominate the desktop market, too? That may be a bridge too far.

I think we might be in need of more hero's, as long as there not insane or criminal they can be medicore.

More actions the better I say.

We don't need to hack laptops if people are buying our tablets instead. Right now, laptops are still expensive and so haven't really taken off outside the upper class. There's still room to dominate the portable-but-still-large-enough-to-be-useful computing market before our competitors have really hit their stride.

Well, we need the high co-op stats for that.

Also we need to be careful about making sure we don't take on too many hero units that might talk to the press at an awkward moment; discretion is important. This is one reason I'm glad we hired the Rogue's Gallery villains; they're unlikely to betray the company, well except for Lisa Snart and embezzlement IMO.

Wayne Enterprises made us look like fools! Fools, I tell you! This will not stand! We must surpass them once more and make sure Luthor is the one to make the biggest mark on humanity, not that cowardly, pompous playboy Bruce Wayne.

I really don't want to help Avruskin in anything especially if helping him will tank morale thanks to Ignition. Unless there is an opportunity to get our hands on Red Volcano data?

I am really bothered that we didn't get a peak on any of Jarett's actions again. Did he stop using lphones? If yes, did someone tell him we are using them for spying? If yes, the idea that Lois gets to him is terryfiing.
