think the best way to make this work is to think of the bomb-teleporter as a kind of artillery, with our metahuman forces acting as the spotters. If our people can get close enough to the target to see where it is and confirm that there aren't many civilians immediately around, we can start beaming bombs in to destroy that target. Trying to destroy several targets, blindly without spotters, based on only a vague approximation of their location, is not likely to have as good of a result.
Don't we have men in invisible suits as spotters as to where the structures are at?

We could always teleport the drones highers then Brainiac fighter screen. I want to atleast get one close by to gain the coordinates of his ship.

I don't know. @King crimson , do we?

Teleporting a bunch of drones to high altitude just to get the coordinates is not a bad idea. But in that case, we probably should send anyone up to the ship that we're not prepared to expend. Again, Brainiac's drone swarm will fuck up our drone swarm once it repositions. And Brainiac's ship may have guns of its own and just murder the shit out of the drones without even needing to send up its own drone swarm.

We should probably bomb only one target at a time, because it lets us concentrate more assets on pinpointing the location of the target, and gives us more reserve capacity to evacuate people from the area before the bombs start arriving.

Maybe we should just not send Pamela, or ensure that she is guarded by basically any force not directly commanded by Katherine. Preferably, Katherine doesn't even find out Pamela is participating in the battle until later.

...

I can understand your desire for spotters, but... we have city maps. We have the tallest building in the city to draw sight-lines from. We have aerial assets that are flying over the city from which it should be pretty trivial to take a picture (and thence determine the location on the maps). I guess that my thought is that getting dialed in on the large, stationary targets in our own city is easy enough that we shouldn't have to specify how we do it. @King crimson if I am incorrect, and it is not that trivial, please tell me, and I'll adjust plan according.

The plan I have posted is designed to use little enough explosive that it shouldn't require secondary evacuation efforts... given that the area will have been depopulated by swarming Brainiac drones anyway. I've also already swapped out Katherine (and swapped in Mari).

I think this mostly covers the issues that QM raised.
Keep in mind the QM will find issues with every plan if they are doing their job right. Even if you came up with exactly the same plan the QM did, it is the QM's job when reviewing said plan to find points of weakness in it.
My idea is that you let Lois speak her information and then let her choose between working with use and singing as loose NDA, or loose enough that she has a few loopholes she can see, but not loose enough to do damage on its own, or being escorted to safety with the other Civilian (Honestly a pretty fair deal, we trust her with our recourses as long as she doesn't use that trust to fuck us) but the primary reason for the NDA is as a part for a lawsuit against her, as well as a smear campaign if she gets to popular (increasingly dirty stuff for that one, like manipulating the puliza prize subtle way to let her win for a superman article just to publicly take it back, because she "cheated", because i just saw this video by film theory
So I watched the video by film theory and I can say almost every point brought up in it is irrelevant to the Quest's version of Lois Lane. Considering that for a solid 90% of the video all of his examples come from Batman V. Superman, a movie with writing so notoriously bad there are memes about how bad it is to this very day (Martha!) I just don't think they're really applicable to things either.

  1. Lois Lane's article on Superman in quest was written when she had no idea that she had a relationship with Superman. It was an ethical article because she had no bias that would be unique to her and her situation that she could reasonably be expected to know of
  2. Lois Lane is not given favors or gifts from Superman to bias her reporting. She personally find him attractive but that alone is not enough to significantly violate the journalistic code of ethics. She wouldn't be able to report on Bruce Wayne either if you go so extreme as to say that Lois Lane can't interview someone who she finds attractive due to being too biased. Give her some credit as a writer
  3. Lois Lane's general beat (politics and the world) inherently comes with bias. Lois does try to present the story fairly when possible but her political beliefs on what are usually deeply political topics do bleed over and affect her. Taking the stance film theory did that any bias at all makes her unethical is both really a childish and gross oversimplification of the situation and of ethics in general. Really the stance taken in this video could be used to discredit every human being on the planet from being a credible journalist due to how rigid and lacking nuance it is.
  4. Lois does try to keep the principles of not doing harm in mind. She is attempting to balance what she thinks the public needs to know with what would be best for the safety of people. Now you can argue that she hasn't done a good enough job and that she has made mistakes that are problematic but she has done her best from her perspective and can make a solid moral argument as to why the decision she made at the time with the information available to her was ethical
  5. Lois didn't suppress information that would be relevant to the public. Generally as soon as she learned of something and it wouldn't cause harm or unfairly damage people she wrote it.
  6. Lois does more or less present things "fairly". She doesn't like LexCorp and thinks they're a terrible company but at the same time she hasn't written that much bad about LexCorp save for stuff she did while under the effects of mind control and that she later retracted and apologized for. Furthermore she doesn't outright erase LexCorp's presence so much as downplay their contributions in preference for Superman because that's what she thinks the reality of the situation is. She's not misleading because she's writing what she earnestly believes to be the truth of the matter in pieces that inherently have opinions bleed into them.
  7. Everything about Clark is irrelevant because Clark doesn't write about Superman
  8. Everything about being biased for money is irrelevant at least no more than with every other major newspaper
The general gist of your plan with the NDA is fine you just can't go to Lois and say "either sign an NDA or I won't listen to your information that could potentially save people's lives" and have that NDA be binding. There's a degree of nuance to the situation and I figured you ought to know that if you go too far in trying to play hardball you'll cause the scheme to collapse.

What you wrote above doesn't seem to be worth pointing out but I do think it was worth mentioning.
- MR and MM are both street-tier at best. They're probably not much better at fightign robots than a well-trained LexCorp scurity officer in an exosuit.
Madame Rouge is well above street tier. She's got a crazy powerful ability closer to someone like Beast Boy's only even more versatile. Like everything you see Helen Parr from the Incredibles pull, Madame Rouge could pull on top of fairly intense shapeshifting capabilities.
I don't know. @King crimson , do we?
You know more or less where the coordinates are but most of the people in invisible man suits backed off to report their information as opposed to getting close enough to try and calculate the exact position. You don't really have spotters but you could get them into position if you want to.
I can understand your desire for spotters, but... we have city maps. We have the tallest building in the city to draw sight-lines from. We have aerial assets that are flying over the city from which it should be pretty trivial to take a picture (and thence determine the location on the maps). You're fine on that front for the most part. Honestly any drones flying above the structure are probably bigger problems for the teleportation device then the exact coordinates of the large stationary things Brainiac is building. You can easily calculate where they are and a whole host of coordinates generally above it.

Madame Rouge is well above street tier. She's got a crazy powerful ability closer to someone like Beast Boy's only even more versatile. Like everything you see Helen Parr from the Incredibles pull, Madame Rouge could pull on top of fairly intense shapeshifting capabilities.
Ah. Well, in that case... I have added this to the end of the B&B section.
If he wishes to deploy any of his assets at street-level, we are willing to put out the word to our own troops that they are friendlies (so long as they don't do anything horrible), provide them with appropriate intel as to what's going on where, and provide a reasonable amount of coordination to make sure that no one's working at cross-purposes. We do warn them that Brainiac seems to be targeting supers.

I figure that sets us up nicely for a statement after the fact that... pretty much lays it out like it was. "They showed up, and stated that as fellow citizens of earth they wanted to fight to protect our planet and my city. I determined that the offer was at least reasonably trustworthy. With hostile alien robots falling from the sky and attacking our citizens, I'm not going to turn down an offer like that. I'm not here to say anything at all about their past history, because I don't know those details, but on this day, they went into the streets and into the skies, and helped protect us from some of the effects of Superman's Blunder, at real cost to themselves. For that, at least, they deserve credit."

So general plans for the future in terms of scheduling. I'm going to be closing the vote sometime either tomorrow or the day after that depending on how much conversation happens about it.

Some of you might remember that there was a creative writing contest that was cancelled. Well the people who participated all got to pick their share of the rewards and a good number of omakes are now in the pipeline. I'll be working on those and hopefully they should be all completed by the end of the month.

Lastly I am still working on finishing the Last Days of Krypton series. I should get it done before the event is completed. Depending on how things go today or tomorrow I'll either have the next entry of the series completed or (more likely in my opinion) one of the omakes from the participants in the cancelled contest.

Thank you all for your patience and understanding with how things are going. On a totally unrelated not would people be interested if I put out some kind of list/ranking that would mostly be opinion based? It's relatively easy content but it's also content that's almost always low on actual substance, so I'm not sure if people would like to see it.

New plan, and since plans becoming literal walls of text now, I'll add some description to it

-Lois option the same as in Sirocco plan, just added offer to give Lois light armor and weapons if she wants to go outside and if willing to take them .

-Teleport to Diana and meet with generals option included

-Have Siobhan help Roxanne in air battles since I think that Brainiac gained so much air superiority in part because we left single hero unit to deal with all his ships. Also it was mentioned that on ground Siobhan holds back as to not shatter buildings with her scream.

-Have our martial units support our metahumans, instead of metahumans working by themselves.

-Have Brain to direct his available hero units to protect civilians from teleport bombing.

[x] Plan LexCorp counter attack
-[x] [LL] Welcome Lois to LexCorp tower. Have Pamela greet her, and lead her up to an appropriate meeting room (letting Helena take a bit of a break, get debriefed and updated, and so forth) while giving her a nice gentle dose of pheromones, encouraging her to feel comfortable (affection pheremones, but keeping it low-key enough that it won't cause significant behavior changes or raise suspicion), and encouraging her to doubt Superman a bit more. If she lets anything slip while she's waiting, that's bonus. Have Lex come down after a little while (long enough for Pamela to do her work) and hear her out on the matter, trying to get as much potentially pertinent information about the situation (and Brainiac) as he can, particularly including any connection to Superman.. Make sure that Pamala don't appear subservient to Lex. As high ranking government official if not the one calling shots she should be at least on equal footing. Record that meeting. Once Lois said her piece, allow her to remain in a limited, safe area, as guest of LexCorp, until this all blows over, or be escorted to wherever in the city she might wish to be escorted to. Hand her back off to Helena once the meeting is over, with Helena serving as escort until she's safely gotten to where she's going. Alternately, if she really wants to come along to watch Pamela work, she can join that particular push as an embedded reporter (and Helena will come along with). Offer Lois light armor and weapons if she is willing to take them.
-[x] [B&B]
--[x]Use the Brain's teleporter to teleport Lisa Snart, Lucy Lane and Oswald Loomis to the offices of the DOMA in Washington D.C. to get in contact with Diana Prince. After learning about situation in Washington move or teleport to meet with military command. If Diana wishing to stay where she is or want to use teleport to go to different location, then let her do it and offer support of present hero units.
--[x] Send drones to get as much targeting information as necessary on the new constructions, and then teleport packs of kryptonite bombs in on the three that are not being targeted by our superhuman assets. Start with structures less likely to cause collateral damage due to its locations.Try to gauge bomb load so that it maximizes the chances of destroying/disrupting whatever they're doing down there (and taking out some nearby Brainiac assets) while not causing serious collateral damage to any as-yet unbroken buildings or buildings that are likely to have human survivors hiding in them. Ask Brain if his hero units can help in spotting unevacuated civilians and in retrieving them. Saving people would be great PR boon for his team, as long as he is sure that those who he sends would not harm civilians instead. We will warn our own troops that they are friendlies (so long as they don't do anything horrible).
--[x] Use the Brain's teleporter to teleport Chemo, an entity the Brain claims could fight on par with Superman, and Garguax, an alien with experience in identifying interstellar association, into the ship hovering above Metropolis as soon as you get it's coordinates. Provide appropriate assistance with targeting - start with whatever sort of an optical or sensor fix you can get from LexCorp tower, then try walking it in by teleporting sensor drones and using them to get a better read on things. Also provide them with as many kryptonite bombs as they choose to carry.
-[x] [Distribute]
--[x] Direct Roxanne and Siobhan to provide interference for alien ship above Metropolis, focus on preventing it from sending reinforcement for its forces on the ground. help sensor drones to acquire coordinates of main ship by taking attention of lesser ships. If possible teleport Blizzard drones above them for further distraction, as long as it would not interfere with your sensor drones.
--[x] Once Pamela has finished her discussion with Lois deploy Pamela, Mari, Sam, with experimental tank alongside with half of your regular troops at LexCorp Tower to commence assault on alien device in Park Ridge. Send Caitlyn, Rebecca, Mercy , Mick to assault against structure in Bakerline. Leave Elaine and Leonard to protect hospital area. For those that have cleared their objectives, redeploy as appropriate.

Reasons I'm not a huge fan of this plan...
- Caitlyn and Siobhan are really big on collateral damage. Deploying other people with them means that they have to hold back, in a way that with just the two of them, they don't. They also work together really well against these particular enemies. I don't want to split them up.
- You're focusing a lot of ground assets on your big push, that could be used to clear out more of the city better. That's... perhaps not necessary? the more focused assaults are going to be harder to bog down. They can get in, do a fair bit of damage to Brainiac's ground assets, and pull back if it's not working. If they have to pull back, *then* we can look at sending major assaults. Sure, we're on a bit of a time limit because we really don't want him to be able to set up whatever the thing it is that he's trying to set up, but I'd think that at bare minimum, the kryptonite bomb assaults should delay him a fair bit, and both of my plan's superhero assaults are at minimum credible.
- Teleporting to DC just seems... maybe not so super-useful? Our local LexCorps assets are some of the strongest troops in the country, and they're in the city already. If we can get Washington to send troops, it's going to take a whole bunch of hours to have someone over there convince them, actually get the word out to the troops, and have the troops travel up. When they do get here, I'm not sure how useful they're going to be... and that's assuming that DC is not itself under attack, and is not expecting an attack shortly. If I were them, I'd be expecting an attack shortly. Oh, and it also assumes that the roads from them to us are clear. There's a lot of potential slips here, and I'd rather not be that blatant with having a teleporter.

I don't fully agree with you here. For example we have ability to teleport peacemaker troops to us, which means that Brain teleporter powerful enough to transport not only individuals but decent contingents of troops. We would not need roads to move troops if we want them. And we are supposed to negotiate for Brotherhood parole later on so it would be easier for us if they help government too instead of helping only Lex and in secret too.

Still, I don't want to drag whole thing longer than needed so here is my vote

[x] Plan one to throw away, version 3

I'd still suggest to add something like "Make sure that Pamela doesn't appear subservient to Lex. As high ranking government official if not the one calling shots she should be at least on equal footing"

to her meeting with Lois description, since Pamela taking orders from Lex without questions like she usually do would affect Lois attitude toward her.

Also to offer Lois light armor with LexCorp logo on it :p

Also to offer Lois light armor with LexCorp logo on it :p
I mean Lois would probably ask if she could get a helmet as well. I doubt you can reasonably deny her that much and I doubt the average person could recognize Lois in armor and a helmet (she's famous but she's not that famous) so you wouldn't get much advertising out of it. Plus Lois is already obligated to include at least a line that "she worked with LexCorp in figuring out the details of the story" or that she "passed along information to LexCorp" if she writes on the subject so unless you believe that she would think that giving her armor is so significant she has to include that in whatever article she writes as a specific detail people know of central to the story then it wouldn't really do much.

Offering the armor would likely irk Lois a bit but she's already trying to work with you, she's professional enough to suck it up here as well if she has to. She'd likely take the armor after making it clear that she had no other options but to do so if she wanted to go out and pursue the story of what's going on with Brainiac.

You're not exactly accomplishing much here even on the super petty front since Lois isn't such a principle's zealot that she'd absolutely refuse to wear something with the LexCorp logo on it. She'd refuse to wear it if she had another option that was comparable but that's not exactly the situation being presented and is fairly reasonable all things considered.

It is for personal satisfaction. Nothing to do with PR. I even put emoji to show I was not entirely serious, but I can still think of some uses for it, like putting a photo of her in armor in Lex trophy room. Near the empty pedestal for her journalist badge for when we manage to fire her from Daily Planet. I mean even Batman have trophy room so why are we worse?

I got that. I understood it was supposed to be humorous. I was just trying to head people off from thinking it would be some big PR stroke if you did so.

Getting Lois to wear LexCorp armor with the logo emblazoned on it and then taking a picture of it for you to keep as a trophy is something you can do and while it won't necessarily hurt you it won't give you much either. It's a choice you'd be making for no real tangible or concrete advantages/disadvantages and instead put into motion solely for the personal satisfaction that you managed to force Lois Lane to do this.

Edit: I wanted to point out that it's not a big deal either way. Lois Lane likely wouldn't care about it enough for it to have any meaningful effect if the ploy succeeded as she'll view it as her doing something distasteful since it was the best option available, Lex wouldn't get any PR benefits and it wouldn't affect any of the mechanical systems of the quest overmuch. Pushing for what you proposed is almost certainly consequence free from both good and bad consequences regardless of whether or not the endeavor succeeds or not.

I felt you ought to know that if you want to push for it since it makes it both easier (it's not going to blow up in your face and make Lois hate you even more if you push for it in a manner that's not ludicrously over the top) and harder (doing it doesn't give you any tangible benefits or advantages) to argue for if you want to sway people to do this.

(Non-Canon) Tales of a Leviathan: An End to War
So I got this done. This is one of the omakes people who participated in the canceled creative writing quest requested. Specifically the prompt selected was a Lex/Talia what if story that had Lex take over as leadership of the League of Shadows. I think this turned out pretty nice. There was yet another preparation for a formal party scene but I think it works as on top of highlighting Talia and her relationship with Lex I wanted to spotlight Cassandra since she's the most altered character in this au.

For people who are wondering about the title it is a reference to Thomas Hobbes' treatise on government and the human condition. I hoped to use it to hint at Lex and Talia's end goal without being too blatant especially since this omake focused more on relationships characters had. I hope you all enjoy!

(Non-Canon) Tales of a Leviathan: An End to War
Talia Luthor
Talia was a proud woman. She always had been and always would be. It was a natural consequence of growing up the daughter of Ra's al Ghul. Talia had learned very early on that she was better and more valuable than the average person. Her father's teachings had done well to elucidate everything wrong with the current state of the world. Humans were ever so brutish and short-sighted and so often people needed to be guided by those who knew better than them to ensure that they didn't waste their potential and wreck the world in the boundless pursuit of their appetites.

That's not to say that Talia was opposed to appetite and greed. A man who wanted nothing and strived for nothing better was little more than dumb livestock, used to further improve the lives of their betters. Rather it was that anyone who let their ambition and greed rule them entirely and drive them to plow through the world heedless of the consequences of their actions that made them little better than a beast. It was a fine line to walk, not going too far in either direction but that was necessary if you wished to be truly great. Talia didn't agree with all of her father's ideas and philosophies but she had agreed with him on that much.

Talia was a proud woman but at the same time she was an ambitious one. Talia wanted to succeed where her father had failed, though she did differ with him on a few key points. If humanity was to be properly guided then control needed to be seized. Rather than attempting to cull the population the person leading them into their glorious eden needed to make them want to obey and line them up to properly follow the directions that were necessary. Similarly the trappings of the past had to be discarded and the future ought to be embraced. Technology and modern society was a tool to be used and twisted to suit the grand design. Talia hadn't come to these conclusions all at once but they were now an essential and irreconcilable part of her philosophy and that was why she was confident she would succeed where her father had failed.

It was funny in a rather dark sense but Talia would not have been nearly as powerful and positioned to succeed if her father hadn't died when he had. Ra's al Ghul was a great man but he was an old man and still ever so slightly set in his ways. He was convinced his inexorable march towards his goals would come to fruition convinced that he didn't need to change and adapt to bring about his eden even as the world altered. He'd always overlooked Talia, never outright snubbing her but never putting her in a position of true leadership and power. Now Talia was effectively an empress, one half of the partnership that would bring about the glorious golden age of humanity, and it all only occurred because Ra's had finally been killed.

It had all started when Nyssa al Ghul, Talia's half sister, had succeeded in not just killing their father but also in making his body utterly unrecoverable for the Lazarus pits. With the seemingly immortal century old leader of the League of Shadows now dead, the League had promptly disintegrated and fallen into three separate camps. Those who chose to follow Ubu and were staunchly traditionalist and unwilling to alter or change, those who sought to follow Nyssa due to her success in killing Ra's earning her acclaim or those who followed Talia due to being her father's favorite child and the one with visions to lead them into a bright new tomorrow. Naturally some people like Lady Shiva had chosen no sides but those were by and large the camps involved with the League's civil war.

Talia had realized very early on that she couldn't win the fight on her own and so she'd sought to work with Lex Luthor. Luthor had held off the League of Shadows on his own so with his backing and technology, Talia could wipe out those who opposed her. Together they'd crushed the opposing factions and reunited the League under Talia's leadership, rechristening the organization as Leviathan. It was at the end of the journey to get to that point that Talia realized that working with Lex was the way to achieve what Ra's could not. However being in charge had made Talia ambitious and she wouldn't accept being someone's underling again if she could help it.

And so she'd offered a marriage alliance. Lex was brilliant good-looking and a man of vision and talent that Talia considered worthy of being her equal. He was a partner she could trust and rely on and she in turn aided him. Talia's skillset nicely meshed with Lex's and she believed she'd grown to enjoy her presence. Talia was well aware that she was beautiful woman of high status and power. She knew that she was appealing as a bride to anyone ambitious and prideful and Lex Luthor had both in spades. It was that shared core of pride and ambition that really allowed their married life to work out as well as it did.

Beyond the fact that it was an investment for her future plans and ambitions, Talia greatly cared for her marriage to Lex Luthor because it was something she had chosen for herself. Talia would never admit it to anyone if asked but because she'd been so long resigned to simply being married off by her father that the ability to choose her marital partner was something she valued. Beyond Lex's many incredible talents, she valued him simply because he was the man she chose to be her partner.

The arrangements had been made and Talia Head, a woman who'd made a fortune dealing in real estate and the stock market whom Lex had met and dated after encountering one another in their shared circles of the rich and powerful, married Lex Luthor in a fairly lavish ceremony and became Talia Luthor. Talia would have preferred to keep things quieter but she understood her husband's desire for spectacle and acclaim. He'd be the face of the future and the image shown to the world while she'd be his equal, if his slightly less well known and famous partner. Lex Luthor wanted to become an emperor of all mankind, known and beloved by all and as his wife she wouldn't begrudge him the opportunity to turn their marriage into a chance to further that agenda. After all Talia wouldn't mind being the wife to the man Luthor was and wanted to become. Empress Luthor did sound rather nice even if it was merely metaphorical and not literal.

Life as Talia Luthor was pleasant and productive. She enjoyed working with Lex and sharing a marital bed and a living quarters didn't diminish that, if anything it enhanced it. Talia ran Leviathan as effectively and efficiently as she could, working in tandem with her husband to try and shape the world they wanted. She had wealth and power beyond measure and though she was not the head of LexCorp and wasn't involved in it's day to day running, her husband ensured that her word was respected and showed that she was appreciated. She even had her own office in LexCorp tower, not that she used it much. She regularly did make appearances at social functions as Lex's wife, wearing a ridiculously expensive custom made clothing to compliment her husbands appearance and armed just well enough so that any threat to either of them could be removed and while the company was often insipid she enjoyed working in tandem with her husband and hearing and sharing opinions about people they met and the world at large. The oddest part of being Talia Luthor was playing the role of mother.

Talia had been a leader, knew how to be a killer by heart and had learned how to play the charming socialite. She didn't have to put on a mask to be an ideal wife for Lex because she believed that she in her entirety, with no secrets kept or hidden, was the ideal wife for Lex Luthor, for he needed someone he could trust and rely on. But Talia had no knowledge of how to be a mother, her own had died when she had been so very very young. But with Lex having already adopted Cassandra as his daughter Talia had to learn to act as the girls mother.

It was an odd experience. Talia did not consider herself a particularly maternal woman and even after having gotten used to being Cassandra's mother she didn't feel particularly motherly. But she did at least learn how to act in the role and found that she even enjoyed having a daughter like Cassandra. The girl was so very desperate to please and be loved by those she thought had value. It had initially only come out towards Lex but Cassandra so desperately wanted to have a wonderful life and be loved by her father that she actively molded herself so as to become what she thought his ideal heiress would be. Initially Cassandra had not been trusting of Talia and hadn't viewed her with respect or authority but after Lex had made it clear that Talia was his equal towards Cassandra their relationship had greatly improved.

Now Lex was not a bad father, he by no means stamped out Cassandra's individuality or punished her for not being perfect, but Cassandra was still so very desperate to be everything that she thought he wanted and to be a "good Luthor" that she brought unnecessary stress onto herself. It was in there that Talia inserted herself into her dynamic with her daughter. If Lex was the adopted parent that Cassandra strove to impress and live up to his expectations then Talia was the parent she confided weakness in and trusted emotionally and felt comfortable being more of herself around. Talia made sure that Cassandra knew she'd always be good enough in her eyes and that she and Lex would always be there for her and accept her. She indulged in the girl's love of violence and combat and began to teach her certain skills and traits that Lex didn't. Eventually Cassandra let Talia into her heart enough that she began trying to be the perfect child for Talia as well.

When Cassandra had stopped cutting her hair and started wearing jewelry so that she could be more like her mother and act more like the daughter Talia wanted, Talia knew she had succeeded. Cassandra was talented focused, endlessly obedient and loyal and her issues were ones Talia could easily comprehend. When Lex had already approved of Talia and given her authority over Cassandra it was only natural that she'd managed to wrap her daughter around her finger and begun to mold her to her design.

Talia was fond of her daughter. She was the culmination of her and Lex's partnership, an heiress trained to take over LexCorp and Leviathan once her parents inevitably passed on. While Talia had no doubt that she and Lex would eventually produce biological children, their adopted daughter would still likely remain their masterpiece.

Talia smiled as she looked over her appearance in the full body mirror in her private quarters, enjoying her impeccable appearance. She fished out her phone and prepared to make a few calls. The current big project between Leviathan and LexCorp was a simple one but one that would revolutionize the world. Giving Lex access to a Lazarus pit so that he could reverse engineer immortality and eternal youth for the two of them was a particularly inspired move Talia believed. Though she and Lex would eventually pass on Talia earnestly believed they deserved as much time on the earth as possible so as to guide humanity to the path they ought to take. While that insufferable interfering alien and that self-righteous reporter were a pain and a constant nuisance, Talia was confident that eventually as they further advanced their technology the sooner they'd overcome them. She could arrange for their deaths but if she and Lex cracked the code to immortality then they could simply outlast all of their foes. Yes victory was close at hand.

Cassandra Luthor
Cassandra had at first not known what to make of Mother. She'd never had a mother before. She knew and broad strokes that a mother was like a father and was supposed to have love for their child but she didn't really get it. She had nothing from before to draw on to simulate it so she had no comprehension of the reality of it.

Eventually Cassandra did manage to grasp it and she was so very happy she had a mother now. Mother was someone like her. She hadn't been born a Luthor but she'd earned it regardless. Father had chosen Mother to be a Luthor just like he had with Cassandra. Mother knew how to fight and fence and spy and sneak and enjoyed it all just like Cassandra did. She even managed to teach Cassandra all sorts of new styles and weapons and assassination techniques. Mother was female like Cassandra, she knew how to look good and draw male gaze where she wanted it and flirt and how to project a million different images and intentions with just clothing and stance and it was all things Cassandra could make use of. Father was brilliant and had taught Cassandra the basics of it but Mother just understood how to do it better for Cassandra's unique situation and circumstances. And Cassandra like feeling pretty and beautiful like Mother.

But most importantly of all the things that Mother understood and was like Cassandra in she understood what it was like to have father you wanted to please and be perfect for. She got it in a way that Father unfortunately likely wouldn't. Cassandra didn't know much about her adoptive grandfather on Father's side (her grandfather on Mother's side was apparently an immortal leader of an organization of assassins bent to making the world a better place that Mother currently ran and Cassandra was being groomed to take over so she inherently thought well of him) but she did know enough to know that Father absolutely despised him. The fact that Father had erased all mentions of his father's name showed the depths of his hatred for the man and so he wouldn't get what it was like to want to please a father. Mother did and she reassured Cassandra about how to go about it and be good Luthor and be fantastic. Cassandra wanted to be like Mother and like Father and she would do them proud.

Cassandra promptly selected a black and gold thread Cheongsam style dress for the party tonight. Mother and Father were hosting a party for various political movers and shakers to announce which candidates they'd be backing for election this year. Cassandra knew that the black would match with them and it looked good on her so she paired it with some golden jewelry with a necklace with an emerald in it and a pair of earrings that completed the two. The necklace and bracelets could double as garrotes if she needed them to. The earrings just made the look feel complete. Her long hair was elegantly braided and her makeup and nails were on point. Cassandra felt satisfied in her own personal opinion.

It was then Cassandra turned to consider her friends and what orders she had to give them. Mother had stressed the importance of leaving Cassandra with friends who were disciplined and knew that their place was to listen to and obey Cassandra. Mother had put all of Cassandra's friends through a training session in Leviathan and they'd come out better friends than they were before. They were loyal to Cassandra and understood that because she was a Luthor they were to obey her without question and value her life over their own. Jade, Rose, Jinx and Artemis were all really well trained.

Cassandra liked her friends and she liked being in charge of them and having them listen to her. She knew that they were hers and hers alone so she was comfortable having them be around her and bodyguard her constantly. Most of the time her friends were given free reign to do as they pleased so long as it remained in service of LexCorp and Cassandra but tonight was important so she took charge.

Jinx was an albino and so her appearance naturally stood out. She didn't wear her hair up anymore as mother considered it unseemly but she was still allowed to dye it bright pink. Jinx stood out too much to be used stealthily though with her powers she was also the most powerful. Her job was going to be to stand next to Cassandra and guard her all night. She wouldn't ever leave Cassandra's side though she was allowed to mess with the reporter Father and Mother hated if she thought she could get away with it deniably. Is Superman showed up to run things then Jinx would be responsible for hurting him and making him leave when he wasn't invited.

Rose was better at stealth but she still stood out. And while all of her friends were martial artists and trained to work as assassins, Rose was physically the strongest and the best at combat. As such Cassandra wanted to make use of that talent. Cassandra commanded that Rose act as Cassandra's second guard. She'd stay close and be armed with a hidden knife and a few guns but she wasn't forced to stay by Cassandra's side the whole night. She'd engage with and dispatch any threats that came at them but was allowed to enjoy herself a bit more due to not being as important.

Jade and Artemis were sisters and Cassandra was glad they'd become her friends. Jade used to be so squirrely and eager to run away but Mother had trained her to understand that working with Cassandra was the best path for her future. Jade was snarky and funny and sneaky and best of all she was Cassandra's. Artemis was the youngest of Cassandra's friends, the only friend she had who was younger than her. She was fun to play simple games with because she'd be the most likely to get invested in things like that. She was competitive and stubborn and now that almost the entire Crock family worked for LexCorp, and she and Jade had been handpicked by Mother to be good enough to be Cassandra's friends, Artemis was the one most eager to prove herself to Cassandra. Cassandra believed they were all good enough but it was nice to see the eagerness shine through. Most importantly though Artemis had incredible aim. Yes that would be the determining factor of their assignments. Artemis would run overwatch and be given a rifle to shoot any unpleasant guests while Jade would act as the spotter and spy. It was so nice to have a plan come together.

As Cassandra finalized her preparations for the night she felt confident. She would do Mother and Father proud.

We really should give Cass a mother figure, i like Talia in this omake, but am still partial to Queen Bee.
