Forge of Destiny(Xianxia Quest)

Pretty sure Meizhen would have had a big setback if we hadn't checked on her, as would Xiulan if we hadn't started with her. I think the pattern was this.

The friend you start with you can give a good end.
The friend you can go to second will have a bad thing, possibly made worse if you go to the market first.
The friend you didn't go to got screwed.
And yet, that is known to be false: We could have gone to see Han Jian and co, after all. Not only that, we could have gone to Li Suyin with Gu Xiulan instead of the market, and then to Bai Meizhen with Li Suyin/Su Ling. But greeeed.

Anyway, for the people voting to get Intelligence, it's not the stat I would choose. Manipulation is the one needed for FVM, so that's what I want.

As for the breakthrough focus, I think people are misunderstanding it as an ambition difference. It's not, it's about focus on pride, self, etc. Can people stop voting when we shouldn't be, too?

[][breakthrough] To ensure that none would shackle her unwillingly
I like this one, simply because it's about being free from outside interference. My issue is it seems to be a loner path. Basically, defense + Loner.

[][breakthrough] To ensure that her wings could carry as much weight as she wished
This might be support-focused. It's about being strong at helping people. I like it. It's also growth focused. (growth/defense+ group)

[][breakthrough] To ensure that any who brought harm to her roots would be punished
Again, loner, but it's about pure offensive (offense+ loner).

[][breakthrough] To ensure that none would dare strike at her or her roots in the first place
Support one, and offensive support: (offense/retribution/group).

Yeah, the time sensitive stuff needs to be worked on, as does chipping away at AS 5 so we can move to EPC, only other thing we need to do is our Breakthrough then.

Also, the wings give protection to the weight we wish to carry, for nothing can touch them from the ground except through us and if we are high enough nothing can strike from above either.

Freedom from restriction, freedom from the heavens, from fate, from misfortune. The unbound freedom that your first's freedom of motion extends to faces you don't like. The freedom to shelter friends and not care if it turns the world against you. The freedom to travel. The freedom to settle. To be unbound. The freedom to make redicously promises, and follow through. The freedom to be kind, and not worry about the cost of kindness. The freedom to take vengeance, and only dig one grave.

Freedom is the most common and selfish cultivator goal, and to every question about 'freedom to what' the answer is yes.

This.

In a restricted vertical society, to have a goal to be strong enough to do whatever you wish is the most ambitious goal possible.

Roots are others, wings are self. I think you're reading them pretty wrong here. Both the roots will be support and other focused, the wings self focused.

I've got a question to the enthusiasts of the 'Wings' options. Where are the wings headed? What's the destination? Wings are a method and not a goal or concrete thing. Freedom is defined by the lack of something. So what 'freedom' is satisfactory?

I'm given to understand that 'the ability to do what you want' is an end in itself, at least to our protagonist.

Ling Qi spent her early life stifled by her mother and her environment, and ran away, only to find that while she was freer on the streets, those who lack power can't really choose a great deal; she had to make compromises like abandoning people in order to survive, and that's not really freedom.

What the Wing-strength represents is, essentially, being strong enough to do as she wants, without having to make compromises like leaving people she cares about or being beholden to the will of others.

[] Help Suyin train and cultivate at the vent
-[] Argent Soul
-[] Eat Argent accumulation pill
[] Breakthrough to Silver
[] Breakthrough to Silver
-[] If first breakthrough failed retrain body

I think the core 3 actions should be silver breakthrough (helps with everything!) and cultivating more argent soul (gotta keep plugging at it. we need to max it out so we can start training the other art)

That leaves us with 3 social/other actions.
[] Look into sending some money to mother
[] Go along with Meizhen to this meeting Cai Renxiang is calling.
[] Try to puzzle out the tokens left from the test

Mother thing would be important development.
I want to finally get the tokens looked at.
And I am curious about the event organized by the girl who saved us and don't mind getting involved with what she is organizing.

Yeah, there is a special benefit that we can use, should we choose it, and we should really choose it. Who wants that wind head meridian art? :)
I wonder what head and wind would even do?

I was thinking we should look for a sharingan-expy. Great perception boost, bonus to fighting others as we learn their weaknesses and can see them forming techniques.

Would fit Head-Spine combo to a T.

So yeah, meeting with Cai Renxiang, Celebration with Gu Xiulan are lock-ins right now I think, as are Breakthrough to Silver. Leaves us with two more, one which people are going Argent Soul with Li Suyin?

Last one can be our conditional if we need to top up from a failed Breakthrough. Should either do a mission or Su Ling I think.

Roots are others+ emotions of the self, Wings are Self+ our ability to influence others.

Why is celebration a lock in compared to quests?

Well, three of the major senses are communicated by the wind and air: sight, sound, and smell. If a head meridian doesn't invovle at least one of these I will be sorely disappointed.

In all honesty, longer ranged sight and accuracy would probably be head wind combo; but it could also be something like what Wrath has, from the Fullmetal Brotherhood, which would be great.

here is how I see each of the breakthroughs.

[][breakthrough] To ensure that none would shackle her unwillingly
Seems to be more for her personal freedom first and not caring so much about friendship

[][breakthrough] To ensure that any who brought harm to her roots would be punished

Seems more focused on her friends and ensuring anyone who does hurt them gets hurt back

[][breakthrough] To ensure that her wings could carry as much weight as she wished

Again a focus on her personal freedom but also making sure to support her friends helping them.

[][breakthrough] To ensure that none would dare strike at her or her roots in the first place

Those girls that went after Li Suyin and Su Ling? Time to gouge their eyes out, server their tendons, and leave them for all to see what happens when they mess with your friends!
But seriously make ourself seem so dangerous that you just don't want to mess with our friends

Personally I'm think [][breakthrough] To ensure that her wings could carry as much weight as she wished fits more

[][breakthrough] To ensure that none would shackle her unwillingly
- Fear driven, we fear being powerless and we will overcome this fear through cultivation. Self focus, no friends

[][breakthrough] To ensure that any who brought harm to her roots would be punished
- Revenge driven, we will hurt those who hurt our friends.

[][breakthrough] To ensure that her wings could carry as much weight as she wished
- Uplift driven, we want the strength to help our friends soar to the sky

[][breakthrough] To ensure that none would dare strike at her or her roots in the first place
- Fear driven, we fear our friends being struck against, so we will make everyone fear to touch them.

Kudus to QM when he came up with those as they are all very fitting.

The first one might help our cultivation in some ways... but limit us in others as per elder su's warning. It is the path of the loner and I do not think it fits us at all.

From the 3 friends options, I believe that the uplift option is the best. Why focus so much on fear and hate and revenge and doing unto others... when we can instead have our focus on uplifting our loved ones and carrying them into the sky with us?

As such, I am definitely going towards

So do we have to reach Silver before adding a 3rd stone for the 4th stone bonuses? Or is Yellow enough? I can't recall how that works.

- Uplift driven, we want the strength to help our friends soar to the sky
I don't think so, and that's why I like the option more than any others.

It's not about helping our friends soar the sky. It's about having the ability to soar the sky wherever we wish, with whomever we may take.

Bonds are also shackles, if ones willingly wore. That is the option that says "fuck your rules" to the world, that we are strong enough to be free and have those bonds.

Like being friends with Bai Meizhen.

Hmm guys I think the mother vote should be taken care of now that we have a decent amount of extra income from last combat situation.

ALSO WHAT DID I TELL YOU huang da isn't as bad as some of you made him out to be and even helped li suyin

I'd recommend holding off on binding a spirit until Ling Qi can use EPC to do so, given it is higher quality cultivation art, and Ling probably lamp-shaded it being good at doing so immediately after Elder Su's demo of binding spirits. Also I wonder what the are bonuses from having 30+ base Qi.
So do we have to reach Silver before adding a 3rd stone for the 4th stone bonuses? Or is Yellow enough? I can't recall how that works.
It is based on the lowest cultivation so yes Ling Qi would need to reach Silver to add the 4th spirit stone, and once she hits middle of the next stage for spiritual/physical she can use five, etc.

Yeah, not caring about the political situation and being able to be friends with Bai Meizhen is very much door number three. Helping her with her political situation is four - that our strength makes our roots safe.

Why do we seek power? I'm not always great with interpreting these, but my take for each of them as is follows. The first has her being sick mostly from being forced into false choices by those more powerful than her, like the folks who got her signed up here in the first place. Technically she could have refused them, but they'd have scooped out her dantian with a fork which presumably would not have been pleasant and so she took the heroic cultivator hero etc. etc. option but felt regretful about being made to do that. The second option is reactive, anyone who hurts those important to her and she'll swear revenge into the rain and unleash a terrible vengeance on them. Third one is kind of hard to interpret; being so free/powerful so as to support her friends despite whatever circumstances she faces? That seems kind of wildly optimistic and a bad mindset to before military service. Lastly, to become such a fearful figure that any move against her is extremely heavily discouraged by her reputation and actions.

I'm honestly not a big fan of any of these. The first seems a little 'freedumb!!!'-y to me, I can see this from Qi as of her first day powerfully but the rest of this CYOA hasn't seemed to reinforce that choice. Rebelling against military service and making that more of the focus doesn't seem to flow very well from what she's just encountered presently. The second is just too reactive, do something bad to my friends and I'll do something bad to you, that's very common. Any 14-year-old's roleplaying game character will have something like that "they're nice but when someone does something to their friends they go crazy and..." blah blah blah. The third one as I've said just sounds cheesy and a best of all the options, everyone can be saved sort of one which I am tired of and think is unrealistic to go for prior to a military setting. I find most interesting the last option; Qi is growing more and more protective of her friends and to that end begins emulating the example of her fearsome roommate, taking on even perhaps a villainous sort of air in order to protect those whom she cares for. Makes sense in character under the heavy influence of Meizhen and considering what happened to Suyin.

[] Spend some time with Gu Xiulan, to celebrate your breakthrough, and see if she might be willing to tone things down in regards to Li Suyin
[] Train with Han Jian and his group
[] Help Suyin train and cultivate at the vent
[] You are still worried about Suyin, perhaps you should spend sometime doing something less martially inclined with her
[] Spend some time with Su Ling, perhaps you can learn a little bit of hunting tactics from her
[] Talk to Han Jian about your recent troubles, and see what advice he has. He is rather more grounded than your other friends
[] Discuss with Meizhen what you can help her with
[] You are grateful to Guangli for saving you...maybe you could do something for him? You can cook a little.

Fun stuff here. My top priority is breaking through into Silver to get on everyone's level, so that's definitely something to have. Got to spend some time cultivating AS5 so we can finally dump the garbage one for the eight phase ceremony and start moving places in ernest. I'm broadly available for most of the social options, I think the most important one is in attempting to integrate Suyin and Xiulan such that we can have a better chance at practicing all together and helping both of our groups to advance more rapidly than they would alone. If we can bring in Xiulan to our side in this, her fiance would flop right over and that would serve to quell much of the friction. I've got to sleep now, but these are what I'll be looking for in votes by when I'm up.

[X][breakthrough] To ensure that none would dare strike at her or her roots in the first place

Yes, we do. We're capped at the lowest of our Cultivation levels.

And seriously, I don't feel that option two is "Rain hellfire and damnation on any who would hurt our friends", so much as it is "Be strong enough that I can have friends without needing to fear them slowing me down"

Still hate him. Don't care that he's going out of his way to impress and appease us. If we do end up falling for him he'll probably just get bored if it and move on to a new obsession. It's only fun while it's a challenge after all. So not going to bother getting involved with him in the first place.
