Forge of Destiny(Xianxia Quest)

Ooo, that'd be something similar to the doll construct thing?
Sounds like the constructs we fought in Investigations. The bird things first, and then the animated guards?

I really like the fact that this is a construction technique, not a combat technique. In other words, it won't actually compete with our other techniques for actions. Also, as something that happens out of combat, Qi efficiency isn't nearly as important, so we don't have to worry about getting talismans that accomodate it.

I also like the fact that as an art, it doesn't require meridians. Something like this would probably require death-aligned meridians, and I'm not too fond of mixing those into our personality.

The way I see this used is to make semi-disposable minions which we could keep in our storage ring as consumables/"trump-cards" for when we find ourselves in a tight spot. For example, we drop a couple of weaker minions to create a distraction, or maybe a stronger one to conver our retreat or help us fight.

The main problem is that this will probably require turn actions, which means it cuts into our cultivation time. Not ideal, but not terrible - especially since we should be much less pressed for time once we hit Green.

Just to point out, we just stole over 500 red stones from that base. 500. We haven't seen that many red stones since we got here. We are doing pill weeks for the foreseeable future, because dang if that isn't a lot of money.

I'm so happy though. We got to FZ 2 just like I predicted, and it is awesome. Encircling winds really boosts up the damage a group of people can do to a target.

Oh man.

Fleeting Zephyr gives +3 initiative base to all allies, and +2 with On the Wind. That's a total of +5. Considering that almost no one has more than 12 or so, this means that when we use On the wind we can ensure all our allies go first for two turns.

This is freaking huge. So, so huge.

Well i liked this update a lot. The Jiao/Xin interaction was really fun.

Not to mention how fruitful it was.

We won't have money problems for quite a while.

plus, if we target a single target with encircling winds, our allies get +4 to attacks against him, and every successive attack adds +1 damage. FZ is really good.
Well, Encircling Wind working with Dissonance is good, but it still doesn't work with Ling Qi herself. So it's only really useful if we have at least 2 allies, or otherwise it's just a lesser Diapason.

But yeah, I am so, so pleased with AtW being usable with our flute. It's not half as good as Elegy, but it still is a physical attack (I think?) that debuff speed and works on every enemies.

Ok, here's my suggested plan.

First, Jiao has been interested when we asked him for training in both larceny and investigation, and he gives +30, which seems to indicate it's part of his specialty compared to some of the +25 he gives. And this matches well with what we're doing this week in searching out Yan Renshu's base, which will be an investigation roll.

Training TRF with Meizhen both because the option specifies an art, but also, she has wood in her art suite so it seems to amtch up well.

The Heart Meridian is a placeholder for Su Ling. But generally, I'd like to get started on meridians - we have so many coming up and currently lacking that it's good to get a start on. Plus, if we want Han Jian's trade, we're def. going to need more another 2 on top of the required heart/arm art for Argent Current.

Minors, I consider catching up with Xiulan and Xuan Shi to be pretty necessary. Other than that, I'm ok with Cai, Suyin, or Han Jian for the last slot. Personally, I don't think a trade is all that necessary atm since we don't even have meridians free (and also, we haven't equipped AC ourselves or even trained it). But OTOH, if we do the trade this week, we can have it available next week for the 8fold... Huh. Actually - that's pretty cool.

We have a spirit beast who probably won't reach green before the tournament. He will love that boost to his attack, and the fact that he will get +1 damage to his attack because of the proc off of Dissonance.

This update was fantastic. From the Jiao/Xin (some of my favorite characters now) hilarity to nabbing a large pill furnace on the way out.

"I'll grab that on my way out" hahahaha
Yeah. This update was awesome; one of my favorite yet. I really liked the part with the pill furnace. I cracked up when she said she had to resist the urge to grab the furnace. Then I laughed when she said she'd get it on the way out. And then it killed me when the +1 Pill Furnace showed up in the rewards. :)

Other parts that I thought were really well done:
  • The whole thing with Zeqing. It is simultaneously fascinating and troubling, but interesting to read either way.
  • The interactions with our other friends. As a reader, I like seeing the way our relationships are developing, and the way we see more sides of our friends. Also, Ling Qi actually staying cool during the situations is super satisfying.
  • Xin is awesome.
  • I like how Xuan Shu likened out concern to "a fine moon shining over rough seas", and how he talked about cold slipping through cracks. His poeticism is really on the mark here. And while it is hard to remember that when actually reading, the characters ARE fictionally, so all this had to be made up by the QM, who doesn't normally think or speak that way. So props on that, @yrsillar.
  • The short note that we borrowed one of Meizhen's spare rings. It is always nice to see a callout to the discussion in the actual update.
Just... it was great. I would give more than one like if I could.

Trials are limited use. If we want it we need to make the trade ASAP or someone else will make a better offer. Han Jian might hold onto it for a week, but longer than that means taking a disadvantage for something he's shown no interest in.

You misunderstood. Han Jian already did the trial himself with Han Fang, and he probably found an argent art slip. Which he may trade with us for one of our arts. (He probably would like AM).

But honestly, i don't want to trade. We already have a lot of arts to train in our plate, and i don't want to give AM to Han Jian (He could use it against us in the tournament).

If we already had three argent arts, and the trade allowed us to complete the set, i would be up to it (Completing it probably gives secret benefits) but as it is, i doubt we will find the remaining art this year.

not sure what to tie to AC, and I wouldn't mind doing some meridian work

[] Working with Li Suyin again has been fun, continue working through the manual

[] Xuan Shi seems pretty knowledgable, see if he can help you out with Zhengui's abilities.

these are the three minors I want that have a reasonable chance to win, or seem time-sensitive—I'm interested in getting the manual available next week for the last Jiao week, but that is interchangeable with the last bag, I think

[] Meet Han Jian, he found a trial, so perhaps you could set up a trade for another Argent Art?
[] Try to figure out the locking formations on the last bag

these are the two minors I want soon that don't fit

He will, but with just him it's worse than diapason... except diapason demands a clash, while this is a pure buff.

Mmmh, waiting for other people to make plans and might change my mind latter, especially as I am not sure about Heart meridian, but I can vote for that beforehand.

[X] Plan Search and Destroy

Han Jian and Gu Xiulan actions are, I think, non-negotiable for me. I also want Suyin, Cai, Bag and Xuan Shi actions. Not enough spaces :(

Wow, oh wow that was fantastic. We need to do burglary things more often. I wonder if our rewards listed was just from Renshu's secondary base, or if we got to keep the stuff we pilfered while training with Elder Jiao. At the time, I had the impression he was just making us swap things around or prank people and we didn't actually keep any of the stuff we looted during that, but I'm not sure...

Yeah, it is amazing; and fixes our money problems for a good while.

Though, just as a thought for the far future - 500 Red Stones is also how much a Green Stone costs. A single stone.
I get the feeling that we aren't going to be able to keep our stone use on max after we break through. :(

-[] FVM
While we had an incredibly shitty FVM roll, we are still almost on track to get FVM5 week 30 (the one after this one) with eightfold pill, so we don't need to train it this week. We can only get Zeqing one week out of two, and she gives us improvement to FVM so it's safer to finish it with her.

Basically everything we've seen points to us getting it pretty soon, and I'd imagine Han Jian getting a copy of Argent Current is more compatible with his current known movepool, whereas Argent Mirror is the better hole-closer.

Not that seeing our friends as competitors we must avoid helping is exactly healthy. We got to where we did more or less by completely ignoring that.

too many actions here, will need to cut something
Honestly, I would cut out the Sun Liling action. We are on the hunt for Yan Renshu right now, and after this base was sacked, he is going to be nervous and jittery. He'll be moving people around trying to hide the bases, and we want to find the bases before he has a chance to do that.

All in all, Sun Liling is not the major concern right now. If we cut off her supplies by taking out Yan Renshu it will slow her down something terrible.

On one hand, sure; it can be useful.

On the other hand, we are giving up our instant for a turn. And on the first turn, that likely giving up having Dissonance/Diaspora up, or perhaps having SCS or one of our other defenses.

And on top of that, it costs 6, which is going to be harsh. Right now that is 5, even after discounts.

then again Sun Liling is what Cai actually asked Ling Qi to do, and leaving it lets any trail go even colder than it already is. I do think that leaving Liling alone won't be happy fun times. anyway, cutting Meizhen training FVM since it's extraneous with the bagua pill week.

I'm not super attached to the plan, really. I'm mostly making one out of residual salt

Yeah, it's still very situational currently, especially as our passive +3 to initiative is already really, really good. Using it in the second turn, if we do use it, is probably better, especially if we couple it with Encircling Wind when in a big group against a specific enemy.

Basically a really good way to say 'this guy has lost' in a fight like Thunderdom Redux.

Do note that this loot was the result of THREE turn actions, though. We had one action to follow their physical trail on Week 26, one action to follow the economic trail on Week 27, and one action to actually rob them blind this turn.
