Crystalwatcher's Magical Girl Quest!

Did you not see the part where I said it's purpose is to stall people? Besides, she can summon an army numbering in the thousands, possibly the tens of thousands. She doesn't need another weapon.

The merely mortal soldiers that had freely talked to her before everything had gone to hell... Lizbeth who wanted to be a chef. Leonard who loved Beethoven. Captain Lexus, who adamantly claimed he held his position because someone fucked up with his promotion... They weren't as lucky.
Oh no! Not the mooks! We put all that effort into saving them! Sure they are utterly unimportant in the grand scheme of things but still! Poor mooks!

"Now stand... before the Firing Line!"
Okay, sure she's evil and all but damn that is a great line.
"HahahaHAHAHAHAHAHA! Foolish little ants! You are nothing to me!"

"You... BITCH! CLOTHING BREAK!"
...that spell name. It's just so mood killing. Seriously I feel so sorry for poor Sega.

"Judgement Core... JC! We need you! You're the only one here that has something that can break through that Skeleton!"
Not true! Lucky could have easily done so. Here look:
War Book: Dragon Breath: 1,000 (0 + 1,000) Base Damage, +36,671 (1d(25,000 + 30,000)) Dice, +780 Divine Inspiration (Shell), +500 Hostile Divinity Effect = 38,951 Total Damage

Demon King: 5,000 Base Resilience, +1,439 Dice, -3,250 Armor Break, +300 Legendary Existence = 3,489 Damage Reduction!

35,462 Total End Damage

Demon King: 25,000 - 35,462 = -10,462 Health Remaining
My by math there is only a 23.32% of her failing on the first attack and she can launch five in a single action. She could have totally splattered Sixth Heaven. It's just we just though (mistakenly?) that you were more reliable.

She recognizes the voice, she notes inanely. It was Samael, the caster of the Support Team. "... B-buh... But what can I do? You saw what she did to the Security Team! What can I do against something like that!?" Blood. He was covered in blood, but had no wound on him. That means he had been standing right next to the soldiers as they died.

Why the fuck isn't he freaking out?
Why isn't he freaking out? This is why:
Team: GEAR
"Badasses need not apply."
Samael, along with the rest of Team GEAR, have seen so much shit that this is nothing. Compared to Goddess Grey, Goddess Red, Goddess White, or The Maidens of the Apocalypse Sixth Heaven is nothing.

Samael growls, and shakes her shoulders slightly, "Yes, you can! Nepgear told you everything you need to know to take this bitch down, didn't she?! We were all listening in, you two left the radio channel open! Do you remember what she told you?!"

Remember my reasoning for having JC take down Sixth Heaven? If not here you go:
I like it because it has people actually following the plan Nepgear laid down. Gabriel, Lucky, and JC where the three Nepgear told to take down any heavies who treated the Messengers, with James and Michael backing them up. Sure the Drives are helping soften her up but it's those three, assuming JC doesn't instigib her like we're all expecting, who are taking Sixth Heaven down.
This is just more evidence for CREED!Nepgear. I'm sure when we get back to base there will be rumors about how Nepgear is a tactical genius whose overwhelming firepower is only matched by her ability to foil her enemies' plans.

"Well... As far as I can tell, you're better at dealing loads of damage to single targets then I am. While I'm really good against lots and lots of little guys... And I've been so worried about surviving that I think my magic has focused more on improving that one area over the rest of it... If that makes any sense."

Yes... that was it. Judgement Core feels the shaking in her body slow to a stop as the memory of Solid Drive's surety washes over her.
@crystalwatcher - I'm fairly sure this should be Solid Core not Drive.

"HYAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!! WHAT DO YOU PLAN ON DOING, YOU STUPID LITTLE ANGEL?! I, WHO WIELDS THE POWER TO TEAR THE GODS FROM THEIR HEIGHTS?!" The sound of madness in Sixth Heaven's voice is grows as she takes contemptuous swings at the surviving defenders. But one stands firm.

Wings of pure white are extended to their maximum, the aura of her Light almost blinding to look upon. Gabriel stands defiant amongst the ruined corpses of the Security Team.

"I am the Inheritor of Light! And though I may be young, I shall stand against your Darkness, Abomination!" It's slight, but Uni can see the slightest tremor of fear flow through her form. "I won't run!" It is an inspiring sight, and it angers the Dark Girl fiercely.
Commander Yama: "She was a fresh Angel! What they hell did you people do to her? She is only nineteen days old!!!"
James Roberts: "She's on Team GEAR sir! You either get good fast, or you get dead."
"Hey, you're new here right? Want to hear about the legends around the base?
And she holds. The tidal wave of power that rocks the Messenger blows dust into the air for thousands of meters around the transport. The ground itself rumbles beneath the fury of the Dark Girl, but before the Angel's defenses, it is found lacking. Gabriel stands, surrounded by a dome of light, her eyes aglow with raw power, and the skeleton fist of the Demon King is held at bay, three inches from the blades across her shoulder.
"They're fucking bullshit I tell you! Anyone else would have been dead on their first mission!"
And then, before Uni's stunned eyes, she begins to push back.
"Have you heard? Team GEAR did the impossible again."
"And when I die... IT WON'T BE TO THE LIKES OF YOU!" The Angel of Team GEAR throws aside the fist of the Demon King. The titanic clash between the opposing forces, cracking it even more than it had been from Solid Drive's spell. The blast wave from the released forces almost tears Samael from his feet. And Uni can do naught but stare in awe.
"Just rollin' rollin' rollin'! They just keep kicking ass, kicking ass, kicking ass..."
"Judgement!" Samael's voice once again breaks through her fugue. "I understand that you don't believe that you can do it... But the rest of us do!" She turns to him, the soldier had taken his helmet off, and now his one-eyed gaze drilled directly into JC's eyes. "Your sister told us how strong your spell is! It's her idea for you to use it, and bring this bitch down!"
Invisible text for anyone who didn't notice.

Pure Epic on the part of Gabriel.

Speech Mash said:
"Judgement Core!"

The voice of one of the members of Team GEAR spears through in a single motion. She wildly looks for the source of the rescuing voice, spotting one of the human males, clad in blood-stained armor running up to her. He drops to his knees with a skid, halting just beside her, and grasps her shoulders in iron hands.

"Judgement Core... JC! We need you! You're the only one here that has something that can break through that Skeleton!"

She recognizes the voice, she notes inanely. It was Samael, the caster of the Support Team. "... B-buh... But what can I do? You saw what she did to the Security Team! Samael growls, and shakes her shoulders slightly, "Yes, you can! Nepgear told you everything you need to know to take this bitch down, didn't she?! We were all listening in, you two left the radio channel open! Do you remember what she told you?!"

Nepgear? What she told her?

"Well... As far as I can tell, you're better at dealing loads of damage to single targets then I am. While I'm really good against lots and lots of little guys... And I've been so worried about surviving that I think my magic has focused more on improving that one area over the rest of it... If that makes any sense."

*Gabriel Awesomeness Snipped*

"Judgement!" Samael's voice once again breaks through her fugue. "I understand that you don't believe that you can do it... But the rest of us do!" She turns to him, the soldier had taken his helmet off, and now his one-eyed gaze drilled directly into JC's eyes. "Your sister told us how strong your spell is! It's her idea for you to use it, and bring this bitch down!"

In the background, Sixth Heaven screams in frustration as another mad swing from her Demon King just barely misses crushing Judgement Drive.

"I know you're scared... but now isn't the time for that! When facing the Darkness... there can be no room for hesitation! And right now, we need you! With all of your power!" He doesn't say another word. He doesn't need to.

You're better at dealing loads of damage to single targets then I am.

Suddenly it all makes sense to her somehow. And Uni knows exactly what she needs to do. Her face hardens in determination and Samael smiles triumphantly. He rises to his feet, and steps aside as Judgement Core follows him up, off the ground. In silent determination, the Magical Girl picks up her cannon.
What's more Samael is putting his new title to work amazingly quickly. He's only been Tuxedo Mask 2.0 for a couple OOC days and yet he's already giving despairing magical girls inspiring speeches.

The atmosphere of the battle changes almost instantly. She needs not reposition herself, for the blood soaked deck can act as the perfect stage. She needs not move from her position, for evil cannot hide from Justice. She needs not raise her voice, for all can hear the proclamation equally.

"If you dare to tear the gods from the Heavens..."

The Judge Cannon raises in a single smooth motion. Its wielder spreads her feet, balancing herself into a stable firing position, and suddenly...

Light

The Cannon seems to unfold. The rails separate entirely from the barrel of the massive gun, and the disparate rings extend as if gravity was a non-entity. And through it all, power floods from the Core.

"... Then don't be surprised... when those heavens come CRASHING DOWN ATOP YOU! THIS IS THE END!"

"Oh, shi-"

And so it ends. In a wave of light.
...You know I can't help but think that while this is cool and all it would fit Nepgear firing Starfall far better. Seriously read this:
The atmosphere of the battle changes almost instantly. You didn't move an inch, for the blood soaked deck can act as the perfect stage. You didn't need to move, for you are the bulwark evil cannot penetrate. Your voice echos across the battlefield, assuring the weak that they are defended.

"If you dare to tear the gods from the Heavens..."

Your Purifier Beam raises in a single smooth motion. You stand casually with your weapon raised to the sky, for nothing can move you from this spot,
and suddenly...

"Starshine!"

Your power pulses, visibly drawing itself together an instant before it bursts with a roar, and the sky is lit up like the crack of dawn. You feel your stamina plummet as you throw out more power than you ever have before, but it's more than enough for your purposes.

"... Then don't be surprised... when those heavens come CRASHING DOWN ATOP YOU!"

"Oh, shi-"

And so it ends. In a rain of light.
and tell me the moment doesn't fit Nepgear better.

...Okay I'm not anywhere near as good a writer as crystalwatcher but hopefully that got my point across.

And everything in a three mile line: a smoking trench carved form the face of Gaia.
...Nepgear glassed the place:
The massive swath of glassed land from your Starshine spells is slowly being left behind as the Messengers crawl ever forward.
I'm not jealous. Not in the slightest.
"Seriously? What does it take to kill this bitch?" Michael's complaint is ignored as James walks almost casually past him and over to the Girl, and kicks her over onto her back. Then squats above her.

"Hey, Sixth." She groans in annoyance as the soldier waves slightly with his free hand. "You lost." This time she refrains from groaning, instead going with an expression that conveys 'No shit, Sherlock!' rather effectively. "Now I have to kill you." Her expression goes deadpan. "By impaling you with my long, hard thing." He holds up his Soul-Severer as Sixth almost goes cross eyed.

"A)" She rasps, "I think you miss-quoted that. And B) the fuck is wrong with you?"

Even though his face is covered, his smile is almost a physical presence. "To you? Everything." Then promptly rams the blade up underneath her sternum, killing her.
...Poor Lucky. Remember how terrified of him she was to begin with? Well I do:
"I-is it t-true? T-that James Robert fought both Goddess Grey and Goddess Red to a standstill in nothing b-but the b-buff with one a-arm behind h-his back, bare handed? And e-even c-cut off o-one of G-Goddess R-Red's a-arms with his 'sword'?"
Actually looking at that this is what inspired him to say this bit:
"By impaling you with my long, hard thing." He holds up his Soul-Severer as Sixth almost goes cross eyed.
isn't it?

But seriously just imagine what this will do to the rumor mil. Sure JC is technically responsible for the kill but when you get down to it everyone will remember that James Robert casually walked up to Sixth Heaven and mocked her before impaling her.

Waking up to Michael and James arguing about internet quotes? ... That was a new one.

"You should have said the 'Bitches love cannons' quote from when he..."
I kinda agree with Michael here. He totally should have impaled her while saying "Bitches love cannons".

Finding out that everyone had taken down the Magical Girl that has smacked you from the sky and sent you through a loop was a humbling experience.
Honestly the only reason why Nepgear didn't obliterate Sixth Heaven was because Basilicom failed* at her job. Seriously her Eye in The Sky ability:
Eye In The Sky
-When Maria is overseeing an Assault Mission, Team GEAR becomes immune to surprise, unless the enemy is using some form of Magical Concealment.
should have warned Nepgear about Sixth Heaven's arrival. After all Nepgear spotted her so I doubt Magical Concealment was at work. Especially since Sixth Heaven doesn't have any spells or abilities related to such. If Nepgear had sufficient warning she wouldn't have been caught by Sixth Heaven's sucker punch and killed her straight away, saving the mooks, with either Celestial Severance (Level 10 or 15), Starshine (Level 15), or Purifier Beam (Level 20). Probably CS Level 15 for maximum eradication.

I guess that's what happens when you assign a complete noob to a team of awesome with no real understanding of what they are capable of. Before anyone asks yes I do mean "noob" not "newbie"; she just brushed off Commander Mason's line about how important Nepgear is to the war effort:
Mason slaps a hand to your shoulder, "Kid, meet 2nd Lieutenant Maria Synth. From now on, she'll be your Intel Operator. When you're out on missions, it'll be her job to give you real-time information about what's going on. Captain Roberts will have an uplink for you when you finally move out. Maria, meet Anastasia Boheart. A.K.A. Nepgear. A.K.A. Magical Girl Solid Core. Keep her alive. At her current rate of growth, our think-tanks have reason to believe that she'll outstrip the Drives within the month, and we have reason to believe that the Unified Darkness knows this. Get to it."
since she was complaining about getting assigned to us less then a minute later:
I have no idea why Commander Mason wants to move me from that to babysitting you from here, but that's what I'm going to do.

*Well technically Nepgear wasn't surprised when she got hit. But still it was totally a surprise attack in that Sixth Heaven got into melee range, admittedly longer then normal melee range thanks to her Demon King, without anyone noticing.

After allowing Gabriel to check you over for lasting damage, you carefully make your still-dizzy way to where your sister is sitting next to the impression of your face in the Messenger's decking. The molding was almost five inches deep, and was rendered into a perfect outline of your wide-eyed surprise. The blow itself had not hurt you, but leaving an impression like that in solid inch-thick titanium armor?
Quite an impressive amount of force there. Crazy levels of force. I suppose that's what happens with 143k damage attacks.

Not your best ever attempt at defense. And not the kind of blow you were used to shrugging off.
Huh. So what you're saying is we need to get the strongest fighters we have: JC, Gabriel, Lucky, JD, and Rei to hit Nepgear with a bunch of 100k+ damage attacks to get her use to being smacked around by insanely massive, yet completely harmless, levels of force?

You slide up next to Sega as you contemplate her question. "According to Gabriel, Lucky and Aquila are in the middle of having some minor breakdowns... Maria sounds like she's hyperventilating over the comms... I have no idea about M.E.C.A.... Judgement Core and Judgement Drive are both below deck. Hey Sega?"

"Is it bad? That I no longer feel bad about the deaths of the soldiers around me... so long as they're not a part of Team GEAR?" You hadn't known the Security Team at all. So their deaths didn't even register properly to you. But Judgement Core? She was below you, crying her eyes out over their ends. Did that make you a monster?

"I don't think so." Is Sega's answer. "You've seen more people die around you than Uni has. Just give her space, and try to talk to her later, yeah?"
For reference here is a list of onscreen deaths Nepgear has seen:
  1. Her entire school
  2. Candy Heart
  3. Templar AD Tank (and crew)
  4. Sega (saw her squished body anyway)
  5. Richard Nixon
  6. Jessica Roberts
  7. Candy Heart again
  8. Nightmare Sega
  9. Laic
  10. Blue Sky (does it count if she's evil?)
  11. Truth
I suppose on reflection poor Nepgear has seen a lot of people die. This isn't counting the fact that New York was probably littered with corpses during her run through it.

James is delivering his report of the attack over the radio from somewhere below you
Commander Mason: "Say again; 'Sixth Heaven was resurrected but is now dead once more'?"
James Robert: "Confirmed sir. Sixth Heaven was resurrected but successfully slain through the combine work of Solid Drive, Judgement Drive, Judgement Core, and myself."

"That hit... I know my own power enough to know that hit would have smeared me across the ground." Her hand absently traces the outline of your face in the Messenger's armor. "And... you just shrug it off. Nothing more than dirt in your hair to show for fighting a girl that was strong enough that it took all three of us to kill the first time."
Technically Nepgear missed out on the fighting. Still I'm glad you are on your way to realizing your squishyness.

She laughs self-deprecatingly before she steeples her fingers beneath her chin and rest her elbows onto her knees. "They called me the 'Indestructible Girl' you know. But now look at me... not even six years now, and I'm already on back burner to the newer generation. Is this what the Goddess' felt when we were on the rise? What the Old Guard felt when the Goddess Four stepped up to the plate?"
Honestly I'm not sure how they called you the "Indestructible Girl". Even with Judgement and Juggernaut on the field your Base Resilience is 6,342 and your NST is 8,554. Certainly impressive but there are plenty of foes who can top that. I guess it's just because the three of you stuck to fighting mooks and low level girls/foes rather then diving headfirst into the Top Ten like Nepgear.

You have no idea what to say about that. Wait... no! You actually did! "You're wrong." Your sister looks at you with a raised eyebrow at your response, but you ignore it and scoot closer to her, so you can rest your head upon her shoulder. "I'm here because of my friends. So are you. So... I think you're still stronger than me. You just went along a slightly different path than I did. You'll find a way to keep your title. I know it."
Hm. Well if she gets Indestructible Frame and her Adamantium Frame and Frame Lattice are both converted into XP then, assuming the numbers are similar to ICORE, we get:
INDESTRUCTIBLE FRAME
Level 70
-The ultimate CORE frame. Once per turn if Nepgear would be killed, instead reduce her Health to 1. Nepgear is also immune to damage over time effects, as well as any form of mental pollution or mind control. In order for Nepgear to receive damage, the damage must exceed 99% of her total health. If this threshold is surpassed, reduce the incoming damage by 99%. Frame is capable of surviving CORE BREACH.

Health = 1,000 + 200*70 = 15,000
Base Resilience = 100 + 100*70 = 7,100
Base NST = 7,100 + 15,000*.99 = 21,950
Effective Health = 15,000 / 0.5 / 0.01 = 3,000,000

Resilience w/ Judgement = 7,100 * 1.9 = 13,490
NST w/ Judgement = 13,490 + 15,000*.99 = 28,340

I guess that's what happens when you dump 24,500xp into one thing. So yeah definitely "Indestructible Girl" material there. Of course there are still at least four known to be alive people who can surpass Sega's No-Sell Threshold:

  1. Angel Gabriel = 53,075 damage
  2. Archangel Michael = 52,275 damage
  3. Goddess Gold = 32,000 damage
  4. Lucky Star = 31,000 damage
Still fairly indestructible though.

She smiles with a huff, then throws an arm around your shoulders. "When did you get so good at pep talks? That sounded horrible, but I'm still feeling better already!"
The Core pulses as the Armor hugs ever so slightly tighter...
"Isn't it the job of the little sister to cheer up her grumpy elder?" The two of you share a laugh.
Sega 1 of 2 events to Unlock INDESTRUCTIBLE FRAME...

-Operation Starborn Results-
Messenger 1: Damaged but operational. Available for Operation: Answerer.
Messenger 2: Undamaged and Operational. Available for Operation: Answerer.
I'm guessing the damage is low enough that it's easily repairable in time for Operation: Answerer?

Security Detachment: Deceased.
Poor mooks!
Magical Girl M.E.C.A. Force: Uninjured. Stress has rendered her unavailable for the next mission.
Her stress has nothing to do with the mission or fighting Sixth Heaven. No it's from being complete and utterly torn. Torn over what you might ask? Who she should fangirl: Solid Core or Judgement Core.

Judgement Core: Uninjured. Stress has rendered her unavailable for the next mission.
Oh noes! Those mooks I befriended are dead! Poor JC must have been rather sheltered by JD. Incidentally her trauma is nothing compared to Team GEAR:
Nepgear: Watched everyone she knows be eaten alive, watched the girl who saved her life die, found her sister dead, woke up with Richard's dead body atop her, watched Jessica die, killed Candy Heart, was strangled by Nightmare!Sega and then watched Nightmare!Sega die, accidentally killed Laic, was betrayed by Blue Sky, and accidentally killed Truth.
James: Left his sister to die. Is missing parts of his memory.
Michael: Fell in love with Grand Archangel Gabriel only to leave her to die.
Lucky: Watched her family be eaten alive.
Aquila: ???
Gabriel: No notable trauma
Samael: No notable trauma.
Team GEAR: Unscathed. Ready for another mission.
Solid Drive: Uninjured. Slightly stressed, but available for another mission.
Huh. It's interesting that Nepgear is the one flaking here when we were warned about Team GEAR being only mortals:
If you choose to go on a new mission though, you'll be literally hopping from one battle to the next, with no real break in between, save whatever rest you can catch on the ride over. This might not be very bad for Nepgear, but understand that Team GEAR is merely mortal. They need to rest some time, otherwise it'll start impacting their performance.

Operation: Answerer will have all three Messenger Platforms available for the Offensive. Each Clash, the Counter Force will have 3d10 Nuclear Strikes available. Tactic: Glass Everything will be available.
Why 3d10? The 3 is obviously because we have all three Messengers but here we're told each Messenger can carry sixty nukes:
"These things are based off those crawler-transports that NASA used for their shuttle rockets. They've been modified to be capable of firing off extreme-range ballistic missiles instead of the normal ICBMs that nukes used to be delivered by. Just one can carry up to five dozen nukes. All three are projected to be capable of carrying enough warheads to glass a continent."
So why not 3d60? Hell why is it a dice roll? We either have the nukes or we don't.

Operation Starborn: Total Success.
Eh. We lost the mooks and one of the Messengers were damaged. I suppose you could argue avoiding that would be a Flawless Victory rather then Total Success but it still feels kinda cheap to call it a Total Success.

I'll probably save the option analysis and mission discussion until tomorrow because it's getting rather late, stupid blackout costing me 2 hours.

Is that including the gigantic buff she gets to her Base Resilience from the Drive Synchronization abilities of Judgement and Juggernaut?
Of course there are still at least four known to be alive people who can surpass Sega's No-Sell Threshold:
Is that taking into account Unstoppable attacks, which ignore 100% of Resilience?

Is that including the gigantic buff she gets to her Base Resilience from the Drive Synchronization abilities of Judgement and Juggernaut?
Yes it is, that's why I specifically mention them.

Resilience = 2,265 + 0.9 * 2,265 + 0.9 * 2,265 = 6,342

Is that taking into account Unstoppable attacks, which ignore 100% of Resilience?
No it's not. That's just for attacks with the raw damage to overcome the Resilience. Any Unstoppable attack, regardless of damage, will hit her HP, since it also bypasses, at least going off the fact it bypasses ICORE, the no-selling off Armored Frame/Indestructible Frame.

Unstoppable bypasses part, but not all of INDESTRUCTIBLE CORE.

Pretty sure that the only way to negate every part of the effect of INDESTRUCTIBLE CORE is if your attack has both Unstoppable and Supremacy.

On that note, we do actually have access to a Supremacy attack, but we've never used it. The tutorial on Synchronize told us that the combination of Celestial Severance and Samael's Armageddon Pulse has Supremacy as an ability.

Access to a spell with Supremacy sounds absurdly useful if we ever run into anyone who can block Spells (like if Goddess Grey has a Rho Aias expy?)

I was obviously not clear; I mean it bypasses the no-selling part of ICORE so therefore it should also bypass the no-selling part of IFRAME.

Pretty sure that the only way to negate every part of the effect of INDESTRUCTIBLE CORE is if your attack has both Unstoppable and Supremacy.
Actually ICORE's second part, reduce by 99%, is flat out impossible to bypass:
After that though, it's supplemented by: "If this threshold is surpassed, reduce the incoming damage by 99%." Which can't be bypassed because her body, Solid Core's Frame, is conceptually impossible to damage.
except by simply dealing enough damage that it doesn't matter.

Also Supremacy bypasses the first and second parts so really all you need is a sufficenly powerful attack with Supremacy, no need for Unstoppable. For example Oblivion Awaits.

Which just goes to show that Synchronize is weird as hell since that means the resulting spell must have a Rule affinity, despite neither of it's components having one, given:
Supremacy: Supremacy negates all an opponent's defensive abilities that don't fall under either outright damage reduction (like INDESCRUCTIBLE CORE's 99%, Red Rose's 20% (Recursive), No Longer Human's 50%), or an ability that directly targets one of the Affinities for the attack, if they do not have a Rule affinity. "Saves from Death" are also canceled.
Only the Rule Affinity can get Supremacy.

Actually ICORE's second part, reduce by 99%, is flat out impossible to bypass:
That just means that bypassing it requires some really powerful concepthax, probably only possessed by a Divine Being.
Also Supremacy bypasses the first and second parts so really all you need is a sufficenly powerful attack with Supremacy, no need for Unstoppable. For example Oblivion Awaits.
Supremacy bypasses a ton of defensive abilities that Unstoppable doesn't, but Supremacy does not have Unstoppable's trait of ignoring 100% of Base Resilience. That's why I said that Unstoppable + Supremacy is an insane combination.
Which just goes to show that Synchronize is weird as hell since that means the resulting spell must have a Rule affinity, despite neither of it's components having one, given:
Agreed, which is why I want to do some spell synchronization practice with the team, and why Samael needs to start stealing MG spells more often!

Because I think The Victorious Dead will be a good place for it to show up. Because, well, its Life Feeds on Life ability means that the MG's that Goddess Red revived are more like bags of EXP for Nightmare of Flesh. And Goddess Red has that nice, big, shiny pile of EXP that's sitting there gathering dust that could be put to good use by something more than willing to use it.

And last I checked, Divinity ranks higher than Epic for Auto-Kill checks...

If we see that thing, I say we activate the P-Frame and to hell with the consequences.

Why did crystalwatcher canonize it anyway, it's simply way too overpowered even for this setting.

Honestly the only reason why Nepgear didn't obliterate Sixth Heaven was because Basilicom failed* at her job. Seriously her Eye in The Sky ability:
should have warned Nepgear about Sixth Heaven's arrival.

Before anyone asks yes I do mean "noob" not "newbie"; she just brushed off Commander Mason's line about how important Nepgear is to the war effort:
since she was complaining about getting assigned to us less then a minute later:
*Well technically Nepgear wasn't surprised when she got hit. But still it was totally a surprise attack in that Sixth Heaven got into melee range, admittedly longer then normal melee range thanks to her Demon King, without anyone noticing.
Read that ability text again.
Eye In The Sky
-When Maria is overseeing an Assault Mission, Team GEAR becomes immune to surprise, unless the enemy is using some form of Magical Concealment.
I dunno about you, but I've never seen anything that classed escort missions under the umbrella of assault.

Oh yeah. That. That's gonna need some heavy revision at some point in the future.
Because if I'm being brutally honest I don't know what Crys was smoking when he declared that canon.

That's pretty freaking bullshit if she gets any larger AOE attacks! Maybe reduce the scaling a bit? 5x damage to all targets if you hit 5 things with one attack is ridiculous!

Oh! I see that you are vastly underestimating how bullshit it is. It's not the number of targets she hits. Its the number of allied targets physically present. ie. The more friends you have with you, the more easily she can kill you. Hence "Army Thinner". As I said, I'm creating these abilities to be deliberately ridiculous with the expectation of having to nerf them afterwards. It's a bit of a challenge and experiment.

That's not an Army Thinner. That's a Planet Buster.

She fires one attack at an army. There are tens of thousands (at least) of allies. Damage goes high enough that it can hurt a World.

I just realized something, if we hadn't done this mission the losses would have been total. There was a core involved, a squishy inexperienced one at that. If we were not present sixth heaven or the first or second wave might well have killed judgment core, and the blast would have killed everyone present.

yeah, we picked the right mission to do.

can humans ascend to divinity?
Case by case basis.

That would require a lot of shit to manage.
A lot of shit.

I think I recall somewhere that since Humans are part of Gaia so long as a single human is left alive then Gaia will still live.
This.

Also, could we do something like send Nepgear and Sega to one place and send the rest of Team Gear elsewhere? Gabriel alone is enough to turn the tide of a close battle!
I'll consider it.

2)@crystalwatcher - I'll probably bring this up in more detail later but I think the new mission system needs some revision. Right now it honestly feels completely pointless since all the missions presented are top priority stuff that will end badly without Nepgear. From an individual mission perspective that's good since it means we're important and contributing but from an overall perspective it means with every day things get worse as 2/3rds of important missions fail or end in Pyrrhic victories.

There is no satisfaction in a job well done when we know we're screwed anyway. Honestly the previous system of just getting assigned the most important system seems far better.
The missions that come up are all pulled from a pool that's sitting back at base, and passed on by Basilicom, based on what she thinks fits Nepgear's desired criteria.

I'll bring the problem up in the Workshop to see if they have any suggestions on it. Would you like me to put up a sheet of what Operation Answerer will have available as-is?

The big question I have is how many more missions will crop up after each of these are completed.

@crystalwatcher , are you willing to comment on this?
Super important missions will begin to taper off and less important ones will start to pop up.

Around then is when I'll start hiding in optional super-bosses if you want to take them on.

Another one of my crazy ability magical girls.
Like this one more than the previous. Give me a bit to look over it some more, and I'll add it to the front page. I'll also go take another look at the other one to see which side it goes on.

Hmm. The update says that both Judgements are currently below deck. Could we at least run below deck and speak to JC before we leave?

Not to make her join us immediately, but just to try and reach out as a friend.

........Also because I want to see her reaction to finding out that Nepgear's being dealing with shit like this since day 1.
I can add this in next update if you'd wish.

Another useful girl for Charon.
Like the previous one better, but that's me.

Anyone have any thoughts on this theory, or am I going way off the deep end @crystalwatcher?
/人 ◕ ‿‿ ◕ 人\

@crystalwatcher, I keep thinking that there will be negative effects on Team GEAR if we take too many missions without a break. Is this line of thinking correct?
This is correct. But they're all badass enough it'll take a few.

For Goddess Red, I actually doubt that the Black Knight is her primary weapon. It's not nearly bullshit enough to be the primary weapon of a Goddess, especially considering that it's way higher level than the primary weapons of the others (the Knight is level 10, whereas Gold and Grey have level 3 weapons and White has a level 2 weapon).
Technically the Black Knight isn't. Her Army of the Apocalypse is.

The Black Knight's sole purpose is to hold her enemies at bay just long enough to start churning out her legions of the damned. The fact that the Black Knight is a dangerous combatant in and of itself is just a happy coincidence.

As for Goddess Red's Overwhelming Presence, based on the exact wording, it's actually way less dangerous than Sixth Heaven's unless you try to fight her solo.

Sixth Heaven's version say that "Enemies within range have their actions per turn reduced to 1", whereas Red's says "Reduce Opponent's 'Attacks Per Turn' by 5."

The fact that Red's says" Opponent's" instead of "Opponents'" means that it either only applies to one opponent at a time or is a total reduction of 5 actions, split up among various opponents.

To reduce every enemy's attacks per turn by 5 each, it would need to say either "Opponents'" or use the same type of phrasing as Sixth Heaven's version.
Poor early installment word choices. I need to go over some of the wording of the earlier character sheets to find similar issues.

That, and Lost wrote out Sixth's sheet and I simply edited it a bit so most of the credit should be given to him.

I get that Goddess Red's personal Base Damage is N/A, but that doesn't mean that she doesn't have a weapon that's used for stuff other than direct attacks (such as one which enhances spellcasting). Don't forget that Sixth Heaven had weapons other than the Demon King! I expect it to be the same for Goddess Red!
Sorry to sink your canoe.

She's one of the Goddesses. Just because she's powerful enough to not need something, it doesn't mean that she doesn't have it anyways.
This is actually a very good point. I'll think on it.

@crystalwatcher - I'm fairly sure this should be Solid Core not Drive.
/Handwave

You saw nothing.

/Handwave

I kinda agree with Michael here. He totally should have impaled her while saying "Bitches love cannons".
"Haven't you heard the sensation sweeping the nation? Bitches Love Cannons~!"

Huh. So what you're saying is we need to get the strongest fighters we have: JC, Gabriel, Lucky, JD, and Rei to hit Nepgear with a bunch of 100k+ damage attacks to get her use to being smacked around by insanely massive, yet completely harmless, levels of force?
This would be hilarious to write.

Why 3d10? The 3 is obviously because we have all three Messengers but here we're told each Messenger can carry sixty nukes:

So why not 3d60? Hell why is it a dice roll? We either have the nukes or we don't.
That's for how many nukes they can load into the launcher per turn.

Which just goes to show that Synchronize is weird as hell since that means the resulting spell must have a Rule affinity, despite neither of it's components having one, given:
The funny part is, I don't remember saying that only Rule can have it. But that might be on me since Lost is a lot more reliable.

If we see that thing, I say we activate the P-Frame and to hell with the consequences.

Why did crystalwatcher canonize it anyway, it's simply way too overpowered even for this setting.
I think this... thing, was another victim of novelty:

I think most of the earlier sheets suffered from me simply not thinking very hard on them because of the novelty of their existence.

It's been years since I was a mod at an RP site where I spent a good amount of time just scanning over character sheets. So I wound up falling back into that familiar rut before realizing "Well... shit. What am I going to do with all these?"

Kind of embarrassing when that hit me.

Oh yeah. That. That's gonna need some heavy revision at some point in the future.
Because if I'm being brutally honest I don't know what Crys was smoking when he declared that canon.
I was smoking novelties.

... Didn't I comment on how the mission would have gone had you not been here, or was that in the workshop?

possibly? I have a terrible memory and skip some chunks of pages from time to time. I'm mostly extrapolating that cores go off like tac-nukes when killed and judgment would likely have died were we not present. Kill the squishy dps is a common strategy

She doesn't do collateral damage. Admittedly, if she got that ability, then we'd have that problem. Maybe I should word it so it only works for single targets

It was here.
Operation Starborn? If you guys hadn't taken it, then Uni would have been injured by the Soul Reavers, and caused Rev to retreat from the battlefield with her, leaving everyone else to fend for themselves when Sixth Heaven showed up. Leading to the two Messengers being lost, and M.E.C.A. Force dying painfully. Meaning the Counter Force wouldn't of had been able to bring as many nukes to bear when the Offensive happens.

Kinda disappointing that this is actually the first response to my possibly crazy theory.

And yes please on talking to JC before we leave!

Did you forget that at certain values of raw damage you get AOE without it being explicitly mentioned? The abilities like Collateral Damage just make you get that effect without crazy high raw damage.

IIRC, the quantity of AOE associated with the Collateral Damage ability also applies once your damage reaches 20k.

ah, so she would have gotten lucky. I wonder if all the cores have the thing where if they die time seems to rest so they can try again?

The funny part is, I don't remember saying that only Rule can have it. But that might be on me since Lost is a lot more reliable.
Supremacy negates all an opponent's defensive abilities that don't fall under either outright damage reduction like INDESCRUCTIBLE CORE's 99%, Red Rose's 20% (Recursive), No Longer Human's 50%, or an ability that directly targets one of the Affinities for the attack.

Only the Rule Affinity can get Supremacy.

"Saves from Death" are also canceled.
