Crystalwatcher's Magical Girl Quest!

I...think you may have miscalculated then. If her health was a base 600, then the armor would have brought that up to 1,200. Core Connection would have brought that up to 6,000, not 3,000. Same goes for damage.

Resilience would be brought to 600, which boosted by CC is 3,000 instead of 750.
Nope:
Health: 300
Base Damage: 300
Base Resilience: 40
Magic Modifier: 150
Affinity: Fire
Health and Base Damage doubled, Base Resilience quadrupled. Then those, and the Magic Modifier are quintupled.

Alright, Lost is a bit preoccupied so I'm just going to put up the chapter raw.

If you see a Typo, feel free to pass it along either in PM or in the thread, I'm ok with either.

Alright, just waiting on Lost now.

Just to give you all a heads up, I'll be posting the information Maria Basilicom gives you guys in a post immediately following the update.

So if something comes up and you're wondering "the frack can they do"? Just be patient and I'll have her data transmission up as soon as SV will let me.

STAR DRIVE
"The Nukes. How important do you think they are for the offensive?"

Maria frowns, before typing away at her keyboard again, pulling up new windows and spreadsheets. "From the looks of things? Very Important. The Counter Force has been pouring all the extra funding they can get their hands on into making sure as many nukes are armed as possible for the coming offensive. Out of the... seven thousand or so that were mothballed after the Crusade, they have roughly eight hundred reactivated so far."

That... was a lot of Deus Ex Nukina. You had no idea there were that many nuclear weapons!

"We haven't figured out a good way to deliver them from the silos where they're stored, so instead Alaya, that's High Command, decided to go big or go home. They've built three separate mobile platforms that can be used to carry the warheads to the front line. Thing is, a few of the spies we know about but left in place to feed false intel to, caught wind of the platforms and passed the news onto the Unified Darkness. So we have reason to believe that they'll be targeting the Platforms." Maria stands from her hunched position next to you, and moves to the small table to with map of the base.

She waves her hand over the projector several times, and suddenly the map is replaced with a 3D rendering of what looks to be a massive land-ship.

"These things are based off those crawler-transports that NASA used for their shuttle rockets. They've been modified to be capable of firing off extreme-range ballistic missiles instead of the normal ICBMs that nukes used to be delivered by. Just one can carry up to five dozen nukes. All three are projected to be capable of carrying enough warheads to glass a continent."

Sixty nukes a platform. Refined from the Great Crusade, the modern fusion bomb averaged out at 40 megatons of TNT in destructive force, and were horrifyingly cheap to build when compared to the warheads of earlier eras. Especially after the advent of magic. A single Fragarach was more than enough to flatten nearly any known target: all one had to do was think of the Oblivion Incident, and how Humanity had fatally wounded a Divine Entity with one.

The problem was, everyone in the LDC knew this. They knew Humanity's danger should they bring them to bear. It had been nothing more than a sense of honor, and wide-spread desire to be better than the Darkness, that had kept the children of Gaia from doing so. To meet the Legions of Hell head on, and to match might against might of their deepest, darkest fears.

But when it comes to ensuring their Future, Humanity isn't afraid to cheat.

"Where are they?"

"The Messengers are supposed to be held in separate locations to keep the others safe if one is compromised, but in order to do that, they have to be moved from where they're at. As it is, Platform 2 is well on it's way to it's hiding location, but Platforms 1 and 3 have to travel along a single route together for seven miles before they can split up to their own destinations. This means they're vulnerable to attack at this time. Judgement Drive and Judgement Core are both already there to lend a hand with security, while a girl named M.E.C.A. Force has also accepted the mission and is en route. If you and your team leave now, you'll make it to the platforms just as they're hitting the road."

"Alright, thanks Maria. Keep us updated on the situation, alright?"

"I'll do my best."

And with that you almost dash from the command tent.

-/LINE BREAK IDENTIFIED\-

"So what's the mission?" Team GEAR meets you at the air field, with Rei and Sega both standing near the helicopter that was being fueled up for your trip. Sam and Michael were both helping Aquila and Lucky double check their new armors. Sega herself is also already transformed and in her Solid Drive form. Rei is standing off to the side, obviously frustrated with the world and scowling at nothing. James on the other hand, is all business as he falls into step beside you.

"We're heading out to help with Operation: Starborn. The Counter Force is moving nuclear weapon platforms to secure locations, and the Unified Darkness has kill teams moving to intercept. We're going to be helping the Magical Girls on station defend the platforms while they're vulnerable." You come to a stop next to Lucky as she hops in place to help settle her armor, while Aquila twists at the waist to check her mobility.

"So who all's going to be there?" Rei phrases it like a question, but everyone knows it's more of a demand. And you can't help the sense of comfort that sweep over you at her concern.

"Magical Girl M.E.C.A. Force and the Judgement Sisters are already there. We'll be working with them when the Unified Darkness shows up." Rei's face pinches and she almost goes cross-eyed at the news. And for a moment, you have to physically keep yourself from laughing at the image. "Don't worry. I'll be careful." You have to be. Somehow, over the last month you had grown to the point where you could easily kill one of your own allies by accident, and had never noticed. And because of that, because you didn't pay attention to how strong you were growing, Truth was dead. You couldn't let that happen again.

Rei scowls at nothing, placing her hands upon her hips and tilts her balance slightly. "You better. I'm still on standby in case Ichi or Ni show up, so I won't be able to bail you out of any problems this time. I'll trust Sega to keep you out of trouble though." You sister, silent until this point, blushes brightly at Rei's command.

"Oi! Who do you think I am?" Your sister marches right past Rei, and swings an arm around your shoulders, ignoring your squawk of surprise as she puts you in a head lock. "Of course I'll keep her out of trouble! It's my job as her big sister!" The lightheartedness that Sega normally displays vanishes by the second sentence, replaced by a seriousness you've only ever seen her direct to your mother when she had hit you. "I won't let anything happen to her Rei. If they want her, they'll have to go through me."

You wisely keep quiet about how you were pretty sure any hit capable of hurting you would probably cripple or kill her. Despite that depressing thought, you appreciate the sentiment. Your sister is best sister.

"We're about to take off; If you're coming aboard, now is the time. Otherwise I'll have to ask you to clear the pad." The voice of Random Pilot #5 breaks through the tension in the air like a needle, and sends it squealing off. You wiggle out of your sister's hold and wave at the Pilot.

"... Alright. Keep me updated." You smile at Rei as she heaves a sigh and marches off. Then, with Sega in tow, you pile into the transport alongside the rest of Team GEAR as the rotors of the machine begin to spin up. You squeeze in between Sega and Michael, directly across from Lucky who was between Aquila and Samael, with James next to the door on Aquila's side. Gabriel is carefully wedged in between the two rows with her legs sticking out the side, too large to fit onto one of the seats with everyone else.

"So..." The Fairy begins. "I've never actually ridden in a human flying machine before." Her attempt to break the ice is awkward, but not unwelcome as Aquila grins over to her.

"Not surprised. I was lucky to ride one in when I was transferred onto the Team." The whine from the blades becomes a dull thrum and you get the now-familiar feeling of vertigo as the helicopter takes off. "When I joined the Commandos I never thought I'd get to ride in one of these things."

"Not surprising." Michael responds. "Despite being allies, each faction of the Unified Light tends to fellow their own deployment methods for their militaries. We help each other out every now and then, but not very often."

"Hey, Nepgear, you plug these two in yet?" Samael's question derails whatever the response to Michael's question would have been. Aquila and Lucky both look at him in confusion.

"What do you mean, "plugged in"?"

James perks up. "You mean the whole Core thing? Nepgear here can give you a power boost by creating a kind of 'link' between you and the thing she draws power from."

What were they... Oh. Oh no. Please they don't mean...

"She kisses you, and you get to glow and everything!"

"Kiss?" They mean it. Now both Aquila and Lucky were staring at you with wariness.

Blushing, you drop your face into your palms, "It's not like that! My power comes from some kind of central nexus or something, and I can make a small connection between it and others! The only way I've found out to manage it is by kissing people! It's not intentional!"

Not like you were complaining though. Lucky goes from wary to interested by the end of your tirade, though. "Really? What effect does this have on our magic?"

"Your magic gets stronger." Is Samael's response. "Among other things I haven't worked out yet."

You blink, and suddenly Lucky is right there, in your face, with excitement in her eyes. You blush even hard as she pull in closer. "How do we do this?" Your mind freezes up by the rather worrying change in her tone.

-/LINE BREAK IDENTIFIED\-

"Radio Check. Team GEAR, do you hear me?"

The sudden inclusion of a new voice cuts the conversation short, you and Aquila both try very hard to ignore eachother's existences while sporting luminescent blushes. Lucky is instead fascinated by the bright pink sparkles she is now able to call up on demand, completely oblivious to the awkwardness she had left you in.

James responds almost automatically. "This is Team GEAR, we read you loud and clear. SIT Rep?"

"I'm Maria Synth, your new Intel Officer. I'll be feeding you data during your missions whenever possible. If you need to know something specific, let me know and I'll see what I can find out."

"Maria Synth?" Samael speaks up this time. "Aren't you that rookie Intel Officer that broke the records at the academy?"

"...Yes?"

"Hey, look at that. We get someone fresh out of training as our Intel Analyst. Why am I not surprised?" Silence and the beat of the helicopter's rotors meets Michael's comment. It holds for several seconds before Sega breaks it like a stained glass window.

"Hey... If you're a Intel Spook... does that mean you get a cool callsign? Like Grim or something?" You crane your neck to look at your sister, who is completely unrepentant. "What's yours?"

"... I don't have one. Why would I even need one? You guys are the only ones that'd hear me."

Oh god. You knew how this was going to end. "Because you're the awesome hacker type! You need a sweet callsign like they do in the movies! I know, I'm going to all you Basilicom!" And there it goes. Your entire team is staring at Sega now, and you could almost feel Maria's confusion through the silence on the team TacNet.

"... I don't want to be Basilicom. That sounds stupid."

"Too late! Your new callsign is Basilicom!" Sega breaks into laughter as Maria - Basilicom - signs audibly over the communications channel. Your sister is never naming anything else if you have a say in the matter.

Fifteen minutes and three separate attempts by Maria to change her callsign later, you find yourself with a rather pressing question yourself.

"Umm... now that I think about it." Your voice cuts into Sega's teasing and catches everyone's attention, "What exactly does a Unified Darkness Kill Team entail? I mean... they don't have elite infiltration squads like we do. So what are we likely to be fighting?"

"That's a good question." Maria's voice is distracted, and you hear her tapping away over the comline. But before she can pull up whatever information she was going for James butts in.

"A Unified Darkness Kill Team is like a miniature invasion force. Roughly sixty demons all told. We'll be looking at groups of Class One Demons known as Soul Reavers, more or less elite shock troops, a group of Hell Beasts to run aerial interference, And more likely than not one or two Dark Star spellcasters. And if we're really unlucky? We'll also have to deal with a Dark Magical Girl."

What he doesn't say, but all the blooded members of Team GEAR understand, is that running into a Dark Magical Girl was pretty much inevitable at this point. You just hoped it wasn't any one too bad... shit, you probably just jinxed yourself.

"We better get ready to fight as soon as we get there. With our luck, they'll be under assault when we arrive and we'll have to fight off a greater than average strength Kill Team to boot."

"... Surely it can't be as bad as that, can it?" Sega, Aquila, and Lucky also look slightly skeptical as you summon your Purifier Beam and silently transform, keeping your wings stored away so you don't accidently toss someone out of the helicopter. Sam, Mike, James, and Gabriel all also pull their own weapons without saying anything else.

-/LINE BREAK IDENTIFIED\-

"Someone should really pick up that phone-"

"Don't you fucking dare."

"Because I totally called it~!" The sound of Lucky's hand meeting the side of Sam's helmeted head resounds through the passenger space of the transport chopper as he chuckles at the bad joke. And honestly? You wished he didn't have the right to say it.

The two massive land-crawlers with stacked missile pods are slowly grinding their way down the interstate as what seem to be close to a hundred demons swarm the both of them. A white and black meteor of power is dancing around and between them, in a mad dogfight with almost twenty Hell Beasts in total. From the lead Messenger you can see a pink machine roughly three to four times the size of an average human blasting away at a slowly encroaching wave of demon spawn that are trying single-mindedly to scale the massive vehicle to get at it.

As you watch she blows three demons off the side of her transport in time to spin around and curbstomp another demon into a bloody smear and blast it's buddies.

Behind her, on the second Messenger, a literal river of death arcs from the back into the sky as Judgement Core simply holds down the trigger of her weapon and prays. Entire groups of demons are vaporized as she sweeps her breath of annihilation across those trying to overwhelm her.

Spread across both machines squads of Human soldiers try desperately to hold the line. Their valiant efforts reduced to nothing more that a gesture of defiance in the face of what they're fighting.

Two of the large wraith-like beings float just out of range of Judgement Core's retaliation. And Judgement Drive is too busy holding off the two Dozen Hell Beasts to kill them. Had you not come, then the loss of at least one, if not both of the Messengers would have been inevitable, the security on the ground not nearly enough to beat off an attack of this magnitude.

"Well, time to be Heroes." Michael's voice is light and jovial, but as he moves to stand at the helicopter's exit you can't help but see the tension and nervousness in his shoulders. "What's the plan Solid Core?" Every looks at you, your sister with a reassuring smile, James, Sam, Mike, and Gabriel with trust, Lucky with worry, and Aquila with nervousness.

"If you need me, I should be able to give a bit of ranged support from here with the chopper's guns. But if one of those Demons get a hand on me, I'm going down."

"Sending you the data on the present Girls, and what we have on those demons. Let me know if there's anything specific you need to know."

The Pilot and Maria's determined voices ground you.

"Well..." You glance at the raging battle. "How about..."

Hmm. Pop the Summoners?

Also, Pure Hunter doesn't ignore Ana's defenses because she's a higher ranked Existence, right?

Yeah though, dropping team GEAR down on the Messengers to push the swarms ou, and having Ana abuse Supremacy Zone to help pop the Summoners. Have Sega act as our backup because she's GOTTAGOFAST?

Yeah, looks like Supremacy Zone is going to be the game changer here. Team GEAR to keep the enemy forces from getting too out of hand, Ana to knock the Summoners out (They're hanging back, so Celestial Severance angled to scythe them down should work without us pulling too far out), and Sega to act as our rapid response in the face of Problems.

That said, we have... All four currently active Divinity-grade MGs present on the battlefield here, defending a high priority target. Expect Superweapon deployment.

Fortunately, as long as Ana's airborne, she's going to be shredding the shit out of arbitrary numbers of enemies. Especially since she interceptor-fires any scary attacks aimed at her friends, and anything that wants to hurt her has to come up in the air (And gets to meet Sega's angry eyes).

The summoners are slightly faster than us but far slower than the Drives. We should take over the Hell Beasts for Judgement Drive and let her deal with the summoners. If we want to finish the Hell Beasts fast, just pop Core Purge, 11.6k dmg + 5k Divinity damage per turn. Melts everything but the Hell Beasts 20k hp. The damage can be healed by Gabriel, and our base resilience no sells any individual attack.

Kill the summoners fast, the human soldiers won't last long against an endless tide of Hunters.

I think it'd be a good idea to deploy Team GEAR to relive the pressure off M.E.C.A and then they can both get rid of the enemies fighting the human troops.

So, Nepgear kills the summoners then moves to help with the Hellbeasts, GEAR helps M.E.C.A and then both of them help the humans. Sounds good?

Let's keep Core Purge under our hat for now, they're going to drop superweapons or super elites, so let's make sure that when they do that, that we can genocide them with a power we've never used in the primary timeline.
