Crystalwatcher's Magical Girl Quest!

On that thought, just realized something: a loooooong while ago it was said that most veteran MG actually actively supress their growth in order to be able to focus on improving their skills. And this right now is how it looks when we are the ones supressing our xp spending in order to do so. Makes sense.

One thing to keep in mind is that our weapon's level is largely irrelevant right now aside from affecting our attacks per turn, because unlike almost every character, we have no limit to how many spells we can cast each turn.
And yet despite this, Nepgear actually very rarely uses her spells. She usually defaults to the Purifier Beam, or the Panzer Blade when up close. It's only when they don't work, there's a small army around or she knows her opponent is bad news that she uses Starshine and Celestial Severance. And she notes during the escort mission that spamming Starshine is hell on her stamina.

That is probably, at least in part, because we've had Calamity Circuit for like two days. We got it during Operation Starborn on Day 24 and IIRC it is now Day 26. So Nepgear just hasn't had the opportunity to get used to the idea that spells are now just as easy as her regular attacks.

Except they aren't. Nepgear explicitly states that firing every Starshine she can was straining, more than anything she'd done before. So spell spam is exhausting to do. So it clearly isn't as easy as her normal attacks, because Nepgear has never gotten tired from those.

Messenger of Peace
-Whenever Team GEAR is in combat without Solid Core, all of James' stats double and Total End Damage against other members of Team GEAR is halved.
I completely forgot about that. Yet another argument to stay with the other fragments.

Reinforce's twist?

For every day she's around Reinforce, her lifespan decreases by a year. For every day Reinforce is away from Hayate her lifespan decreases by a year.

Both starting at 100 years.
So... apply as WEAPONs for Gaia, or get a resurrection subscription with Goddess Red once she's returned to the Light? Alternatively, if we want a team GEAR solution, there's a chance that Samael could get a counter to the decreasing lifespan if he casts Libras on as many Life affinity MGs as possible. Hayate and Reinforce could then copy said spell.

Unironically, you are working towards the WoG angle here. IIRC there is a statement that barring literal divine intervention, Greater Nightmares do not get to have a happily ever after period.

Gaia and (to extent) GEAR are Divine and near-Divine correspondingly, and the one happy ending we have seen was with Maiden of the West and her Nightmare of the West, whose twist was for former to be killed by the latter's childbirth while still technically granting Maiden's wish to be a mother - and it was Shiva/Sil who were the literal divine intervention in that case.

As for the situation with Reinforce, depending on the exact effects of their Unison (which IIRC either makes them immune to negative status conditions or something similar), managing to extend the duration of Unison indefinitely might disable the lifespan decrease for the duration.

Although technically Goddess Red (or anyone else with access to Reincarnation) could achieve a Good End in the same type of scenario.

So its less period and more "barring exceedingly exceptional circumstances".

For Maiden of the West, yes. For Reinforce, not really, no. I figure that "lifespan at zero" isn't necessarily something that gets reset via Reincarnation.

Yeah. For West in particular is what I meant.

The exceptional circumstances are "someone with rare powers that are particularly suited to the way in which the Nightmare gets a Bad End helps".

[X] Hold The Line (Take Direct control of Team GEAR)

Whew, remembered this quest, read the latest update, and now I'm here and I can vote in this quest for probably the first time ever.

I'll read it over! Thanks for the info.
Huh. Apparently it's not impossible to say Thorn Warden's title, but it has a weird perception filter affect?
