Crystalwatcher's Magical Girl Quest!

No Core Connection with them because they aren't Mortal.

If you mean the get stronger when fighting together abilities, yes.

For those in team GEAR it is like exhast vents, there is another much larger connection or set of connections which most likely point to the any of the drives and/or Uni, though the only time it has shown up has been during useage of Core Purge.

That's called the Progenitor Frame, and its on the front page.

Its literally the avatar used when [PEACE] needs a physical body for combat, just in an extremely weakened form.

Its also the source of the Golems that Team GEAR can manifest.

[X] Join The Assault (Keep control of Anastasia)

Welcome back CrystalWatcher

[X] Hold The Line (Take Direct control of Team GEAR)

Btw, should we start thinking about spending xp or is it too soon? Other than wpn 20 does anybody have a good idea on what we should spend if so? Or are we waiting for the unlocks? Fragments+Cores should unlock something, i think.

So while waiting on Crystalwatcher to get some sleep lets see what we can put together about the mission. First we have:
In defense of the Gate Team, they're not going to rush the gates head on. I thought it'd be pretty obvious they'd go around and try to approach the Gates from either the side or behind the endless flow of reinforcements.
so the plan is clearly to try and find a path outside the flow of troops from the Gates to the Fortress.

If we look at the Mission Select description of this, because this is Operation Charon, we get:
[] The Road to Elysium (Operation: Charon)
It was the greatest portal Humanity has ever made. A permanently open gateway to Hope, with a two-way highway twenty lanes wide. Thousands moved through it daily, both ways. Rush hour was a bitch, but we didn't care. It was a monument to our future, a symbol of what awaited us all... but now it lays dormant. That cannot stand. The Highway to Elysium needs to be reopened, but doing so presents a risk that we can't reasonably take without proper preparation. We need forces, a lot of forces... and we know exactly where to get them.
The Fairy-Elf Fortress at Milidia has been all that's held Earth's flank ever since Reluxus fell. Forty thousand Elves, Ten Thousand Fairies, and nearly an entire division of Human soldiers hold it against an endless tide of raving demons. But its true strength lies in the more than fifty Magical Girls that man its walls and turrets. It's a concentration of power that has held Hell itself at bay for half a decade now, but we need those Girls if we're going to retake Hope. But we can't leave Milidia undefended, otherwise the Fairy Home Realms will be overwhelmed. So we're going to insert a strike team to close the Hell Gates that feed the Unified Darkness reinforcements and rip their legs out from beneath them in one move. But it's not going to be easy.
Difficulty: Low. No foreseen problems cropping up.
Launch Date: Day 26
Known Allies: Crimson Hood, Flawless Paladin, Sumire Saber, Sakura Saber, Madama Morte
Confirmed Enemies: Hell's Seventh Legion
Possible Combatants: Army of the Apocalypse
At first glance it sounds like the portal to Hope was on Milidia but after re-reading things a couple times, and re-reading the most recent update, I'm fairly confident they have nothing to do with each other. Instead we are on Milidia because we need the troops stationed here to guard the portal, presumably on Earth, once we reopen it since it provides a direct and massive connection between Hope and Earth. On Milidia there are several Hellgates, presumably like the one we saw waaay back in New York, that need closing. Sadly we never actually got to see that one closed, Nepgear passed out first, so we have no idea what that involves. That Carnage was fighting all those demons and needed the Tanks to help clear the area before taking down the Hellgate suggests it isn't simple or easy.

The description from the update depicts us as being located in a steep valley filled with trenches:
Outside, Milidia is in chaos. Lines of trenches hold a steep valley against a seemingly endless tide of demons and monsters that are attempting to drown the defenders in corpses. The sky is filled with Angels and Hell Beasts that struggle for dominance while a literal rainbow of colors denote dozens of Magical Girls that are mixed into the slaughter.
which makes sneaking rather difficult. We could try and scale the walls except the sky is filled with Hell Beasts so we'd probably be spotted pretty rapidly. Without other information I'd say our best bet would be to try and edge along the wall to try and keep the number of demons we have to fight, and thus draw attention from, through to a minimum.

Alternately Nepgear could always try and slaughter her way to the Hellgate via raw power. Starshine in anti-army mode currently deals ~77 million in damage and Nepgear can cast 4 spells per turn thanks to her 4APT and Calamity Circuit. That is a total of ~308 million damage, ~616 million if TIG triggers. That is hundreds of thousands of regular durability targets (~1k hp) or tens of thousands of tough (10k hp) targets. However I doubt we'll be allowed to go that route.

Sadly we never actually got to see that one closed, Nepgear passed out first, so we have no idea what that involves.
I think breaking the gate works. Even if not, you can stop the gate by killing the Gate Demon keeping it active; they are rendered unable to move while doing so, meaning they can not run.

Okay, expansion has been added to the update, but for those too lazy to go back and read it (like me), here it is:

"How exactly are we even planning to assault the gates?" You ask, trying to ignore the pressure that was once more focused on you. Because seriously, this time you're not the only one. "Red is no tactical genius, but even a complete idiot with two braincells to rub together won't leave those gates unguarded."
"We're going to rush the gates head on," Alex states plainly. "Two teams, the Line Team rushes the gates, smashing as much as we can in a straight line in order to draw as much attention as we can. Hopefully it'll create enough chaos to draw the guards off the gates by convincing Goddess Red that our attack is the real attempt to close them."
"And while that's happening, the Assault Team swings around past the Unified Darkness' forces using the chaos as cover," James takes over, pointing to the side of the valley that was debatably less wrecked than the rest of it. "With all the angels, demons, and fairies in the air if we're quick about it we'll be able to get close enough to the Gates to pop some caps into the Gate Demons."
"Gate demons?" You and Uni ask simultaneously. You look at the other Core, who is now glaring at you in annoyance.
"Hell Gates are opened by Gate Demons," Rev cuts in before a fight can start, "they're these speedy little fucks that have to bury themselves a bit into the ground in order to root a new Hell Gate. Kill the demon, the gate closes. Which tends to be simple enough considering they can't move while supporting a Gate."
"So, Line Team or Assault Team?" Sega asks you, a firm look of determination on her face. "I'll trust your decision."

So it's the line team that has to take on the biggun.

[X] Hold The Line (Take Direct control of Team GEAR)

Also, James seems confident he can do the Assault without us, while Uni and Sega are asking for us to help hold the line with gratuitous use of Starshine to clear the field.

Man it has been so long since I checked on this quest that I've forgotten like half of what's going on. Will refrain from voting until I figure it out again.

I do like this quest.

The Fragments are here. They're all here, and as we know, the Darkness really, really want to kill us. This probably isn't a trap for us, but there's nothing to stop Red and her allies from trying to make it one if this goes pear shaped as it inevitably will. Should that happen, we'd be best off with all five of us together to watch each other's backs. Disregarding the worst case scenario, the Assault team, despite the designation, isn't going to be getting into any fights they can't avoid. The Line team, on the other hand, is about to fight literally everything between them and the portal as a distraction. They'll need Solid Core's firepower more.
