Crystalwatcher's Magical Girl Quest!

Does the Soul Reaver's Pure Hunter override Nepgear's Echo of Peace?

Come to think of it, is there a limit to how far EoP can reach across a battlefield?

[X] Plan Labor Division

Looking at the numbers, each human soldier can reliably kill one Reaver each turn. With Echo of Peace in place, they might also survive one turn of melee combat against one as well. EoP would also cripple attempts by Reavers to exploit Killer Combo to gain enough DPS to damage the crawler the hard way. Our team is effectively impervious to any single Reaver, and can one shot in return (other than Lucky, who has better things to do). The real danger here is if the Reaver manage to get into melee in mass. I don't know what Lucky's spells do, but I think it would be better for her to assist in fending off the Hell Beasts if he AoE spell can't one shot Reavers.

The Gunship can two-shot Reavers, and it has Full Auto and 5 attacks, so it can kill 12 Reavers each turn. With EoP it should be able to survive brief Hell Beast attention, but we need to prevent it from being dog piled.
MECA Force can two-shot as well, has Danmaku and 3 attacks, coming out to 15 Reavers per turn. We just need to get her out of melee.
Judgement Core can one-shot, has Full Auto and 3 Attacks, for another 15 Reavers per turn. Assuming we get the Hell Beasts off her back.
Solid Core and Gabriel should be able to hold off the Hell Beasts until the Drive return from whacking the Summoners, which would push us to the next phase of the operation.

Question: why do people keep saying we need to get MECA out of melee? While melee entails the reavers being closer to the transport than is ideal, people are talking like she's hobbled in some way by it, which doesn't quite match what I read in the update.

I'm kind of surprised that the Messangers don't have a bunch of casemated guns and flamethrowers for exactly what is happening here.

Messenger 2 looks to be under vastly greater pressure. Judgement Core is also in deep shit if the Reaver number increases at all.

Judgement Drive meanwhile needs backup badly, given how much of a glass cannon she is and how many things are fighting her.

Yeah, @UberJJK you might want to reverse who goes on what Messenger since we need more numbers on 2 than 1, though the Gunship might be an equalizer somewhat

I don't think Apocalypse triggers when we intercept a meele attack via Supremacy Zone. That leads to stupidity like blocking a foot-soldier's axe and having the AOE destroy the person we were trying to defend. My money's on it either leaving the things we try to protect unharmed via weird [PEACE] shenanigans, or refraining from intercepting where it would do more harm than good.
That's not what we're concerned about. The worry is that Supremacy Zone will Intercept ranged attacks from things that are so weak that the Purifier Beam punches right through them and hits whatever is behind them.

Hey @crystalwatcher how do Body Modifiers work, again?
Body Modifiers reside in the softer mechanics of the quest.

Depending on how a certain blow lands, and how much damage it does, direct effects can be applied to the opponent.

Using a Hell Beast as an example:

Lets say you shoot a motherfucker in the face with your Purifier Beam.

(Purifier Beam: 5,725 Base Damage, +364 Dice, +2,862 Supremacy, +500 Hostile Divinity Effect = 9,451 Total Damage
Hell Beast: 200 Base Resilience, -19 Dice, -150 Juggernaut = 31 Damage Reduction

9,420 Total End Damage

Hell Beast Health: 20,000 - 9,420 = 10,580 Remaining)

You take damn near half it's health in a casual backhand. Now, at this point the Purifier Beam is firing off blasts that can accidentally a skyscraper (and more) if Nepgear isn't holding back. So this Hell Beast just got hit by a beam that could probably envelope it whole when taking this damage. And considering it's a purification effect, it probably burns like a mother fucker.

Now, at this point I'd take into account that Hell Beasts are roughly the size of a large troop transport like the Skybound, and what their weakest limbs are that are most likely to break when hit by something like that.

This specific Beast, I would say had one of it's wings blown clean off, and is heavily dazed from both A) taking a Purifier Beam to the face and B) falling out of the sky rather suddenly.

The missing Wing meands it can no longer fly, and the Daze means he's stunned and is suffering a -20% power malus. And if I'm feeling really vindictive I can also say the poor fucker landed in front of one of the Messengers.

"Roadkill" is a very vexing state of existence for such a large being.

Does the Soul Reaver's Pure Hunter override Nepgear's Echo of Peace?

Come to think of it, is there a limit to how far EoP can reach across a battlefield?
No to both of those. Echo is powered by [PEACE], which is supposed to be Neutral. So abilities that can bypass Positive or Negative Affinities run into it. And so long as it can be considered "on the battlefield" Echo affects it.

Question: why do people keep saying we need to get MECA out of melee? While melee entails the reavers being closer to the transport than is ideal, people are talking like she's hobbled in some way by it, which doesn't quite match what I read in the update.
M.E.C.A. is... mostly fine. She's getting swarmed by being the biggest threat on the platform, but otherwise isn't having too many issues.

If you can get past the "getting swarmed" part.

I'm kind of surprised that the Messangers don't have a bunch of casemated guns and flamethrowers for exactly what is happening here.

The whole thing was short notice and the pencil pushers were more interested in their ability to hold the nukes then putting guns on them. The Security Team are kind of miffed at this as you'd probably imagine.

Did you leave out the effect of Insurmountable Gap on purpose? I imagine the poor Hell Beast would become ground pizza after loosing 95%ish of it's health in one shot.

Edit: Nevermind. tIG wouldn't trigger, I'm an idiot.

Don't forget to add all the new Ability descriptions to the big list! Here's all the new descriptions that have appeared since last night's update.
Rend is a weaker version of Murder. Same damage count, but it runs up against Resilience when doing it's calculations.
Pure Hunter bypasses the base no-sell that's tied to her current Health but that's it. The rest of it suffers from her reductions.
Auto-kills "Mortal" enemies that get hit, and allows the weapon to bypass Beyond Good and Evil.
Additionally, I noticed that the Divine Being Abilities section doesn't include Beyond Good and Evil, Celestial Combat, or any of their variants. Multiple things are also missing from the Super Abilities section, but that's not a big deal since those are pretty much each unique to a specific character.

Edit:
Actually, that's all of the new Ability descriptions that have been given since the creation of the big ability bible. Would probably also be a good idea to add a footnote to the ability bible saying when (in terms of page number) it was last brought up to date.

I'm sure the next ones will have them then, considering "being mobbed then shredded because demons killed the people on the outside" is very detrimental to the ability to carry nukes.

It's a very believable reason though, since bureaucrats mess up a lot of things

Lost's Bible is more for Weapon and Spell abilities, so only Rend and Obliterate would be added.

Other abilities like Beyond Good and Evil, and Celestial Combat already come with built-in descriptors for what they do.

So..............Those Brahmastra nukes...................Holy fuck are those things powerful!

Assuming I'm doing the calculations correctly, those things are powerful enough that they can oneshot Gaia, if she gets a bad enough Magic Modifier roll.

Brahmastra's Unstoppable ability makes it ignore Resilience, and it has a Base Damage of 40 million. Gaia has 35 million Health and 66.6 million Magic Modifier. Doesn't that mean that it will oneshot her if she rolls less than 7.5% of her max on Magic Modifier?

I used Gaia for this example because she's one of the few Divine Beings whom we actually have stats for. Now remember that Gaia is actually in the upper tiers of Divine Beings. Other planet scale Divine Beings, such as The Paleblood Moon, are guaranteed to get oneshot by Brahmastra!

Having a list of the different variants of Beyond Good and Evil and Celestial Combat be there is a useful resource for anyone trying to create a sheet for a Divine Being.
