No they were too big for the cargo ships dad brought with them.
As for where dad went…
He went to Volantis when the Triarchy took back control… and he managed to use his connections to buy 1000 bundles of Yiti silk at well below market value.
Then he flipped it in Dorne and the Reach and made a killing. A huge killing.
