Dragons At Court - A History of the Targaryens - Book Three - By Maester Archibald ii - Published by Riverrun Printing house
"...The prince Daemon, known for a time as the rogue prince for his tendency to leave royal responsibilities for the comforts of the road, had at this point amassed a reputation across the seven kingdoms. In Hightower he was a scoundrel, according to civil records he and his loyal squire accosted a number a guards while sneaking around the Hightower keep, in Kingslanding itself he was a man of political fortitude through his many robust and downright confusing alliances, and in his adopted home of gulltown he was a stalwart hero having, according to legend, struck down sea monsters the crawled up from the depths of the sea with dragon fire…" (Page 58)
"…on the relationships the prince Daemon did maintain there are surprisingly few records from the man himself, though there are many more primary sources from those of his allies and enemies alike, they describe his wife the lady Rhea Royce who stood as an ally and loving spouse, despite a very troubled early marriage, a great many high and low lords who supported his endeavors, such as the reformation of the Kings Navy, and to not great surprise the later dragonrider Lucien the Brave, sources from the time state that Lucien's early life not spent with his dragon was at the side of the Prince, as his squire and later good friend, in one text from the Maester's of Dragonstone isle the prince is said to have spoken of the Dragonrider as "My damn brother" thought the veracity of this record is currently disputed…" (Page 127)
"…the prince and his squire are said to have been near inseparable for years, though several sources state that prince Daemon resented Lucien at first, it seems that Daemon grew to appreciate and care for his squire, especially after that fateful incident at Kingslanding. It seems that Daemon, through his conversations with his erstwhile squire, learned various forms of sign language and incorporated them into his days at court, one account from the journal of a lesser lord visiting the kings court reads "… I bore witness to a meeting by chance, in the gardens under the walls of the keep. There I did see the prince Daemon and Lord Hightower, attending them was the princes squire, the mute boy from Dragonstone. The prince and Lord Hightower seemed close to blows, though the prince was more aloof, before the prince did a strange thing with his hands, the Lord Hightower seemed confused and the mute boy laughed, though this did nothing to help the Lord Hightower's mood. I left as soon as Lord Valeryon came with a array of Goldcloaks, though I have heard there was no blood spilled today, I worry for the state of the court truly.", this seems to show that during his time with the prince, Lucien and Daemon may have developed westerosi common sign in ways the maesters of kingslanding had not intended…" (Page 203)
(Authors notes, I really had fun with this, I didn't think that a whole section would really do a smattering of adventure justice and wanted to state and hint at more than could be done in such a format, so I went with something more manageable. A few snippets from one book of a series in a distant westeros, all with bits and bobs about what tomfoolery Daemon and Lucien get up to in the coming decades. thanks for the opportunity to write Magoose, this one was a real pleasure)
