  • [X] Plan TNE
    -[X] In order:
-[X] Tyene: Occular Spell: Dispel Magic and Bestow Curse (-4 on everything).
    -[X] Maelor: Voracious Dispelling
-[X] Waymar: Move if necessary to get in range, then Quickened True Strike + Whirling Blade, Power Attacking for 11 and channeling Lightning Lance.
--[X] If he misses, Dany uses one of her Alter Fortunes.
--[X] Note for DP: Should be a +31 hit for 1d10+34+2d6+9d6+30d6 (18-20x2). He gets a Fort save to reduce that 30d6 to 15d6, and then apply Resist 20, once. His CL for channeling electricity spells is 15, so three lances (3d6+10d6 each) in one hit.
-[X] Malarys: Something to lower saves if possible. Streamers if he has nothing level appropriate. If he realizes what is is, he instead recites the tenets of his Faith as a Church Inquisitor of Balerion. Toss a quickened spell if it fails.
-[X] Viserys: Quickened Searing Agonizing Fire Darts, Baleful Polymorph, Celerity, Baleful Polymorph. If Malarys afflicted him with Shaken, use Necrotic Bomb instead of Paindarts.
--[X] If he saves against the second, Dany uses one of her Alter Fortunes.
--[X] Use Baleful Polymorph to a slow-flying bird instead of the usual turtle, as to not make it easier to resist due the molten evil lake.
-[X] Dany: If still a threat, use Reached Harm.
-[X] If BP did work, don't forget to catch it and the gear as they fall. Winter can dive for the staff while someone catches the evil bird.
    [X] Plan Exterminate
-[X] Viserys launches a Quickened Targeted Dispel Magic at the Dark Djinn, then follows with a Searing Agonizing Elemental Fire Darts spell. He then casts Celerity and Dimensional Anchor.
-[X] Dany targets it with a Reached Harm spell, using Alter Fortune if it resists to force it roll again.
-[X] If possible Waymar moves close enough to target it with his Whirling Blade spell, using Arcane Channeling to deliver a Lightning Lance.
-[X] Tyene targets it two Bestow Curse Occular spells, both meant to inflict a -4 penalty to everything.
-[X] Maelor casts Nerveskitter on Viserys, then targets the Dark Djinn with a Maximized Eldritch Blast.
-[X] Glyra targets the Dark Djinn with Lesser Confusion.
-[X] Malarys targets it with a suitably dangerous offensive spell (Streamers, maybe?), unless he succeeds on a knowledge check to determine the Dark Djinn's weakness, in which case he recites the tenets of his Faith as a Church Inquisitor of Balerion.
-[X] Richard grits his teeth, wills the Dark Djinn to die a messily painful death, and stays close to everyone so as to protect them with his Holy Aura. He will be inquiring, most insistently, about getting the ability to fly after this fight.

Part MDCXCVI: White Dawn Rising
White Dawn Rising

Fourth Day of the First Month 293 AC

The dark fire burns on, blackening scale and sapping life, its crackling voice whispering of damnation. You might have tried to quench it, to give yourself relief from it, but you will not let pain rule you... your business is with its maker and dearly will he pay for it, you vow. As though it can hear your thoughts the dark spirit laughs, a mirthless thing like the scouring wind over a lifeless wasteland, pouring yet tainted flame over your flesh.

You take 37 Vile Damage

Alas that it seemed to have once more forgotten she whom it had named 'toy.' Tyene pushes her shadowy steed into the air above the roiling emerald pools and twin bolts of sorcerous power fly forth from the Dornishwoman's eyes, one to shatter wards and dark blessings, the second a curse of bleak misfortune uttered in the tongue of the Rhoynar of old. An instant later follows a wave of twisting shadows that seek to tear and rend spell and flesh as Maelor calls on the dark power of his blood, though your monstrous foe pays it no mind.

Instead he roars down at Tyene, "You would dare lay curses upon me, worm that crawls in the muck?! When your master is dead I shall make you beg for death for a thousand times the span of your pitiful mortal years!"

When it had begun speaking Waymar had already been in the air, but hearing this he only drove his steed faster, Purity shinning so bright in his hand it almost hurt the eyes to look upon it, and the brightness only grew enveloping the young valeman like the power of some forgotten god of storms as words in the Old Tongue rang out in the depths that had known naught but darkness and stale air.

"Dawn comes!" he shouts as the blessed bronze blade seems to become three lighting bolts coiled about each other, cutting unerringly through the whipping winds to impale the twisted Djinn through the void where its heart once lay. Like a shadow before dawn's light it faded, on its bestial features a look not of rage or fear, not even of pain, but instead a sort of dull disbelief.

Ser Richard, prepared to strike but without a foe before him, takes the chance to snatch the burned staff from the air.

So much for the trouble of capturing the thing, you think, blinking away the glare as you whisper twice over the words of unraveling to rid yourself of the corrupt fire, but the flames prove tenacious, until Malarys lends his own skill at curse-breaking to the task.

As you return to more reasonable proportions the mage priest says softly, "I must admit I had misgivings about bringing the boy. It is good to see they have been proven false."

"How did the child do..." Alyneah asks, an expression of almost-mortal shock in her eyes of molten gold.

The sound of metal parting interrupts her... the ark. All eyes turn instinctively there to see it open and its mysterious contents, or rather occupant emerging. You know at once that you behold one of the djinn, the lords of air and of the genie-kin both most kindly and most capricious. She seems as a young woman, her skin the bright blue of the summer sky whorls and patterns white as the clouds moving upon it, hair as white as snow and eyes, wide in shock, bright silver as the full moon's light. Even in her seeming surprise she moves with the grace of a bird on the wing which perfectly complements delicate features which seem sculpted of a master's hand.

She asks something in the lilting tongue of air, like a gust of wind on silver chines, then seeing the shaitan commander she struggles through tones of her tongue. "Where am I?" then something else too complex for you to follow.

Alyneah answers at length. You catch the words 'journey' and 'oath'. She looks like she would much rather be anywhere than here.

The djinn looks even more confused, almost flustered, and you begin to wonder if she is in fact as young as she appears, at least by the measure of her folk. A blush like rosy dawn steals upon her cheeks. She turns once more to look around the circle of faces.

"Which among you mortals dealt the mortal blow to the Nameless One whose curse had stricken me?" she asks in the tongue of dragons of old, sounding as if she cannot quite believe her words.

What do you do?

[] Let Waymar answer

OOC: Waymar not only crit, he rolled 19 on the confirmation...and then precisely 21 on the miss chance (he needed 20+ on a d100).

Waymar doesn't speak draconic (yet); according to his character sheet.

Edit: Assuming "tongue of dragons of old" isnt' High Valyrian ...

Waymar is perfectly courteous. Hermetia tried no less than several seduction checks throughout an entire evening... and he left that room Pure. Pure as driven snow.

Nonetheless, even if we interject, we are going to talk up our friend's heroic actions, yes?

Can anyone here cast Consecrate?
That's a lot of Vile damage there and I'd hate to carry that around for 5 more days until we get home to Lya or a Hearttree.

I'd honestly like Waymar to answer this. Viserys interjecting just seems trite, and we've never had a problem with our companions speaking for themselves. At least in situations where their ideals won't cause issue, which this shouldn't.

Viserys does something to the bad guy that requires more vocabulary than exists in the multiverse to explain how dead they are.

"I too saw this coming."

Waymar Waymar's the bad guy...

"My hero~" *swoon*

[X] Let Waymar answer
-[X] He is given Tongues so that he can communicate with her. Briefly explain that she asked who had dealt the mortal blow to Dark Djinn.

Ohh! Can they chain tounges? Chain tounges and then let Waymar be Waymar as we really should let him enjoy his chance to be regonised as someone as awesome as he is.

[X] Plan Talking Shop
-[X] Get Waymar a Tongues spell to talk to her.
-[X] Viserys goes to the Shaitan commander: "I take it your task was to bring her to a curse breaker in the Opaline Vault? Are your oaths of silence now discharged? If so, I would like to know what happened here."
