Oh this is a more relevant place, so I'll continue to state that humbling the seven might rely on the fact that there's seven. Whether it's a pantheon or MPD, we can see a big difference in how Lucan (Father) acts vs the Maiden cleric. Breaking them apart might work

Breaking them apart probably won't work. They're Seven, but they're the Seven who are One. I'm not sure if it counts as a Pantheon if they're all just aspects of the same god.

Ehhh, the Seven already hate us. I don't want to be fighting both the old gods and the new. Best not go back on such promises.

Furthermore, by using slow and indirect methods, we can claim to be "working on it" with utter honesty, and still not cross lines we'd rather not.
I'm pretty sure that DP mentioned at some point that first blood has to be spilled to satisfy the more vengeful Old Gods, if we want to stay in their good book.
After some of the crazies have gone back to sleep we can start on the slow methods.

So best hope to keep the alliance would be to try and kill some of the high-value targets, like Arryns or Graftons right during our conquest and hoping most won't notice and then start with the sterilization-plans.

Though I wouldn't say no to burning down Bloodraven's Tree once the Others are defeated. He just looks like a great final boss.

The Old Gods would support sending people to the Wall if we don't want to kill them right? After all they serve a purpose even the Old Gods find important and the Nightwatch actually getting lots of support is always a good thing.

Again, first some blood, then smart solutions.

Some of the OGs propably are the souls of Firstmen killed in the conquest...

Have no problem shedding blood, likely the head of houses and major leaders of the Seven, but not everyone deserves to be killed off and can be put to better use elsewhere while still serving the interests of the Old Gods and world really.

You truly are a Ritual of Apostasy. A Mark of Antitheism. A Symbol of Diecide.

Anyway, I've been rereading a lot. I wonder what happened to that Ibbenese 'Princess' we rescued with Maelor. Did she go home? From my understanding, Ibbenese are literal Neanderthals. @Fehu do you have interest in their genetics?

He is a level 17 Arcane/Divine caster buffed by the Old Gods and with Fey-minions.
How could you not want to challenge that once you think you have a chance?

He's like a mix of Viserys, Vee and Lya on steroids, I'd be interested in testing ourselves against him even without the OG-thing.

My suggestions were pretty tame, really. Because of the people at play, most of the Andal houses in the Vale will probably oppose us. So it'll be pretty simple to kill or force infertility on the males of those houses, send the survivors to the Night's Watch to serve against the Long Night. Then we take all the daughters and divide them up. Some will go to second or third sons of Northmen Houses. House Blackwood has at least five other sons than the Heir, so maybe a couple to them. And then the rest probably get married to prominent tribals in the Mountain Clans. This means that the Vale is divided between Houses with First Men lineages from the North, the RIverlands and the rest to the First Men living there, ensuring that neither side has total power. And of course we have the Royces of Runestone to form the center of any power bloc.

The Westerlands and Riverlands are guaranteed to have SOME Lords we'll have to trim and cut, root and stem. If the North binds itself to our cause early in the war, one of the things we can promise them is further lands for second and third sons in the south, furthering northern interests. I know it's a slight risk to give so much influence to Houses from the North, but they're basically some of the best existing First Men house candidates with traits and qualities we would value over those we find in Andal Houses. Practicality, loyalty and--at least the ones not from the hills in the north--they're civilized enough to coexist with their neighbors, which we can't say for sure of the Mountain Clansmen, who keep to all the old ways that the Wildlings north of the Wall do, like raiding and stealing brides.

Dorne still has a lot of Houses with well recorded First Men origins. We could award some of the other lands to second and third sons from there, which should both cut up the power blocs that will form in the aftermath while still satisfying the revengeboners of the Old Gods, and also further endear and empower our Dornish allies with further influence outside of Dorne.

The rest of the Lands can go to people outside of Westeros, perhaps, maybe some people we know and convince to pay homage to the Old Gods and plant their own Heart Trees in their respective lands---something we'll be helping all the Houses with that we reward in the first place.

  • [X] Heal until you are fully recovered
-[X] Tyene expends the rest of her 1st level spell slots casting Cure Light Wounds on Viserys.
-[X] Viserys casts Mirror Image on himself, plus Invisibility on Azema. Once Tyene finishes healing him, Viserys will cast Greater Blink on himself.
    [X] Leave then with Azema
-[X] Place an Arcane Mark on the Maenad we just defeated. It deserves...special treatment.
-[X] Have her tag along with us while Invisible.

Part MCCLIX: The Forsaken Feast
The Forsaken Feast

Thirtieth Day of the Eight Month 292 AC

After healing yourself as much as is prudent as well as casting protections that would perhaps have served you better before meeting your last foe you press on into the ruined halls of Admiral Jacaelar, still master of Westheaven, in name if not in deed. The aftermath of horror that you witness there makes you glad for Dany's absence, for all her aid would have made the battle far less perilous.

"Why... why the hells would they...?" Waymar asks, wide-eyed and pale as he had not been in the midst of battle. For a moment there is no sound save the whimpers of the "survivors" that litter the hall. A cruel thing to call the poor wretches.

"The presence of the Daughters of Zagreus looses all restraint in the celebrants," Tyene replies slowly. "It seems some of the admiral's guests had fouler desires than most. Fuck Tyrosh."

Even stoic Ser Richard gives a hearty agreement to that.

There is not much else to say besides offering that little healing you can give and directing whatever victims of the night's horror you find along the way to leave the manse as quickly as they can. Perhaps you should let this place burn down to ash and cinder, to be purged by fire. Not while there may still be victims to save... or their tormentors to drag to the noose. Guilt gnaws at you, for did you not instigate this madness for your own gain, however unknowingly?

Surprisingly you also manage to find a few men in the garb of gentry among those who hid and did not partake of this atrocity. Their eyes tell that tale more surely than babbled testimonies ever could. Half-a-dozen kept out of almost three score guests... the most senior of them is Laegor Galaelon, first mate aboard a galley called the Sea Witch. Though shaken by the monstrous deeds he has witnessed he is by far the most coherent witness you have of the night's events, beside Azema who had used her magic to flee at the first sign of peril.

"It was the wine," he tells you. "Can't drink it myself, get deathly sick if I do. Never thought I'd be thankful for it..." He shudders.

"So you just hid in a broom cupboard?" Waymar snaps at the man.

"What the fuck was I supposed to do? What was anyone..." Laegor's voice is breaking. As he struggles to collect himself Waymar looks embarrassed by his outburst.

As you all continue onward you come to a disturbing conclusion: Those who had fallen under the spell of the maenads had all been devoured or fled. With all the half-eaten corpses strewn about the halls it is hard to tell one from the other. The admiral himself at least is easy to identify, his bloated corpse as large as three other men put together. His belly had been split open as part of the dreadful feasting which he had obviously been partaking of.

"There's..." Waymar swallows. "Wisps of death magic gathering around them. I think we need to burn the bodies or else they will rise as hungering dead."

What do you do?

[] Burn the whole manse down hopefully purging the place of this night's evil

[] Gather the bodies and burn them separately, you still have use for this place and its treasures

[] Write in

OOC: Rather than trying to write down scenes of horror dreadful enough to make hardened adventurers sick to their stomachs I elected to leave most of it up to the reader's imagination. Hope it works.

Cannibals usually rise as Ghouls, right?
Those are smart enough to anwer questions, and weak enough that Dany could Rebuke one under her control.

We could find out who send the wine and if it might have something to do with that, rather than just the god's manifest dissatisfaction with the party.

...Let me guess. @Duesal is overjoyed and will propose to let them rise as additional components for sacrifice... Alright, let's see where this madness goes.

[X] Duesal

I think we're better off questioning the Maenads. These obviously are people that drank the wrong stuff at the wrong place and the wrong time.

-[X] Take the Admiral's body to SD (get Lya for Shrink if needed), put it in the Shadow Tower under strong supervision (including a Minotaur), bound in heavy chains and wait for it to rise so you can question it

I don't see why we would have come here otherwise? If we wanted to sacrifice the treasures, we would have just kept hunting for lesser Maenads. I appreciate the opportunity to reconsider, likely given because the horrible things Viserys had seen were so much worse than he initially imagined would be there to be found, but we came here for a purpose. Best to see it through and deal with any problems that arise from being responsible for this night's tragedy anyway. And we will make amends. There will be healers, and supplies. We'll take the slaves away from here, and I'm considering allowing the Tyroshi who no longer wish to remain a chance to move elsewhere too...

At the very least our actions here will leave most of the local population seeing us as heroes and with most of the leadership dead they will likely have little issue with us taking over.

Just as a note, allowing someone to awaken to the horror of undeath is somewhat morally dubious.

Ok, then I'll ask about the value before doing it.

Would we get better, more comprehensive and less riddel-y answer from a controlled ghoul than we would from a Speak with Dead?
Do Ghouls have full recollection of their mortal lives?

A newly risen ghoul is mad with hunger and far more animalistic than an older one (who might even pass for being alive for a limited time), so you might have a hard time getting a coherent answer. Generally speaking memories are fragmented, though recollections of the the time immediately preceding their deaths teed to be clearer.

-[X] Take the Admiral's head, question it with Speak with Dead who send the wine, if he had any knowledge of something being strange about it, if he had any idea that this god here was an active force, etc.
-[X] Destroy head after questioning, preferably before it wakes up

There, now without undead with bad memory.

Ahhh... sidestepping one moral issue while standing in the pondscum of another equally dubious act of immorality. At this point I think Viserys keeps the idea of being discomforted by the things he has to do to move forward in life simply because he's afraid that one day he won't have a way to measure whether or not something he's doing is actually horrible or not. More the fear of not knowing the difference one day than actually being afraid of the act itself.
