More than that. I forget the precise number but between functional ships and none functional ones we need between 240 and 250 AP, just to get all our ships with standard defenses.
I was only counting damaged. If you count undamaged as well, it's 143 capitals, 312 escorts, for 247 ap needed to refit every ship, with only 39 escorts having been refit so far.

This one seems to make the most sense to me. I'm not willing to guess everything is free, but at the same time going 'hey one of the options is entirely pointless' also seems pretty risky to me.
 
Considering how prevalent bonesingers are in our population, and how important artisanship and craftsmanship is to us culturally and religiously, do you think Vau-Vulkesh singers are renowned?

Do you think that singing is very important to us?

Do you think we sing to use our technology?

Would it go something like this?
it could be that designs are passed on from seeker to bonesinger, or teacher to student in the form of songs, with each separate item being a different song.
The automated production facilities could be like music machines.

But on the other hand i d don't think sound and song is actually necessary to the process. I think it's the medium through which the process is taught and standardized.

Going by tabletop rules, the standard imperial plasma rifle has 24" range, and S7. Upping both to the next increment would put you at S8 and 30" range.
So basically they hit as hard as a starblaster ("almost as powerful as a Lascannon" at S9, so they're probably S8 too) with the drawback of needing power armor to fire safely.
 
Also, I doubt they fire anywhere near as rapidly.
yea, by the same metric, a plasma gun is rapid fire 1, i.e fires x2 shot at under half range of you don't move. A starblaster carbine is likely Assault 3, i.e fires the shots, regardless of how far you've moved or the range you're aiming at.

edit; imagine combining Hellgun reactors with starblasters already higher ROF. Brrr.

So, between the bonsinger weapons options, which one will we be picking next turn.

I would like to see monofilament weapons, but i think it's more likely we'll choose missile launchers.

Thoughts?
 
As cool as I think monofilament can be, it's also the most expensive, and we're not short on sinks for any bit of spare BAP at the moment.

Personally, I'd probably push for either more Industrial Enhancement - we're not going to need less of that anytime soon - or for completing the Primary Distribution Control, because it seems likely that people are going to insist on work on that getting done anyway despite not getting any actual value out of it before it's fully completed.

Missile Launchers have potential if we intend to either use the designs immediately or want to keep advancing down the Missiles tech line, but if we're waiting on the chassis development projects to finish first, I'd say we'd be better off getting a bunch of refitting done with whatever our two new cruiser designs work out as.
 
Monofilament is likely to be the most effective weapon against orks that we have, point for point.
And it could unlock weapons at every level other than naval: Grenades, missiles, melee, ranged, heavy, vehicle. And i still want to put a harelquin's kiss on a spear. (and give the design to meros)

Missile launchers should be available at every level as well, and can get really flexible with payloads. And they might unlock research for guidance systems.

The entry-level Basic Missile Launchers tech gets us Heavy and Vehicular. If we want more than that, we'll need to invest further - probably the same way with Grenades; we don't have Plasma Grenades yet, for instance.
Still worth it, probably.

do you think we'll get melta missiles automatically, or will that be a separate research thing too? I'm leaning towards automatic.
 
Melta is a development tech. Like with grenades and torpedoes, there isn't much science by Aeldari standards involved in making either missile or melta tech, so there is no need to spend seeker AP combining them. Haywire bombs specifically offer missile options(whole point really) so we won't have to invest there either.

I imagine other development actions will have certain compatibility as well, like applying turbo las fundamentals from develop super las weapons to most lance tech.

I mentioned that earlier Hellgun style power banks and star crystals are a match made in heaven. You could probably get it up to a comparable rate of fire as a starcarver. Doesn't hit as hard, but the base Starblaster is already plenty.

Edit: Combine that with the future minitaurized power source that should come from the combi grav research, and you'll have a chefkiss weapon.
