Forge of Destiny(Xianxia Quest)

Would it be seen as odd if we added a small section of padding to Zhengui's shell so we could ride on him without discomfort or fear of falling off? Would Zhengui find it uncomfortable? I imagine not, because I can see Zhen using it as a place to rest his head, but gotta ask.

[X] Go along with Meizhen, you don't much care what happens to Yan Renshu, but you would rather she have backup. He's tricky.

Time to go hunting with our Best Buddy! Maybe we'll even bring Zhengui with us.

I'l fix that later. Right now it does not give low light.

Range expansion means he fills another fifteen meter circle with ash, he can just only maintain three at a time

Ashfall: ooo
Cost 6 Qi
Instant
Zhengui expels ash from both of his mouths, filling the sky with falling gray dust. The ash cloud extends for fifteen meters around him and persists for fhree turns in that space. While Zhengui and Ling Qi are immune to the effects, others within the ash suffer a DV 2 fire attack each turn with a two die bonus, and suffer a two die penalty to perception and offensive clashes against Ling Qi or Zhengui. Zhengui may use this art multiple times, to expand its area. Three stacks may be active at a time.

...is that a Fire/Wood FVM?!

Can we have some rules to make this non-cheesable? E.g. you can't go up past the Qi you started with in a give combat, or something? That can be an implicit/narrative rule; that is fine.

I just don't want to find us in a situation where the most logical thing to do is to initiate combat against a Grade-1 critter or an ally or whatnot to recharge.

No, it doesn't work that way.

Think like how Exalted 3rd Edition does it. "This is excess power drawn in from the legitimate tension brought out when demigods risk their lives on the field of battle, you don't get this if there's no actual risk or danger to you"

What I'm trying to say is that a common sense gate should be applied here.

I would prefer if we don't encourage Meizhen's nastier tendencies, or Ling Qi's for that matter.

Also, Zhengui is back!
And those passives.

Given his elements I think we could grab a bit of moss and it'd blend right in.

AN: Going with Meizhen will result in replacing the wolf hunt action with a 'destroy Yan Renshu' action. Sorry for the wait on this. Hopefully you all will accept the excuse of the holiday.

There's nothing to be sorry about. Quite frankly I wasn't expecting an update so soon.

So I was hoping that TRF 4 would make HRA instant or give us a new tech. While we got neither of those things, I am rather ok with what we did get :p Some really great things in there - 1 armor passive (for our friends too!), two temporary healthboxes for DV, 2 points of damage downgraded for TRD (which is GREAT against Sun and her techniques which seem to cause two aggravated perfect damage) along with Qi regain. And other, smaller things as well. TRF is really one of our best arts.

And our little Zhengui is all grown up. Pretty much what we expected -slow but a great tank with tons of armor, some self healing, and amazi ng Stamina, although his Dex is rather lacking. @yrsillar - will Zhengui's attributes/skills/masteries improve while he practices in yellow or will these only improve when he breaks through to green? Or breaks through to mid Yellow/Silver?

He has some great techniques too - hopefully Eternal Vitality eventually extends to being able to heal us as well. His qi is fairly low right now though.

His bound spirit effects are great too, pretty much as expected...EXCEPT for the +2 dice on all power/expression based offensive clashes. I have no idea where that came from, but man oh man is it good for us.

>implying I care about her going 'overboard'

As long as she isn't going to kill him and he isn't secretly the emperor's prime bloodline heir, whatever comes will be dealt with. He picked this fight, and we aren't exactly a nice person.

Passive Effects
-Grant +3 +4 die to physical defense pools of the user and all allies within forty meters
-Grant +3 dice to stamina and resolve tests of the user and allies within forty meters
-User gains a three die bonus vs poison and disease effects
-User and all allies within forty meters have their armor ratings improved by one

Deepwood Vitality: oo
Cost 5 6 qi
Instant
The user channels their qi into the earth, spreading like a great tangle of roots to link with up to three five allies. On activation the user and each target are granted one two temporary health boxes and a three die bonus to physical defense for four turns. In addition if the user or an ally is under a negative effect, this technique clashes against the effects caster and dispels the effect on success. This roll receives a three die bonus. Temporary health boxes receive damage first, and disappear upon being used. Temporary Health boxes do not stack.

Ten Ring Defense: oo
Cost: 4 Qi (initial)
Instant
This user fills themselves with the vital qi of the great forests to protect themselves and their allies from harm. Grants the user a three die bonus to physical defense for three five turns. In addition the first one two points of damage the user suffers each round is downgraded one stage. Aggravated becomes lethal, lethal becomes nonlethal, nonlethal is negated. In addition the user may expend three qi to negate 1 point of damage, even from attacks which bypass normal negation. This effect may be used on allies within range. If the user is not damaged in a turn in which this art is active, they recover two qi. This effect only occurs in combat.

Hundred Ring Armament: ooo
Cost: 8 qi(initial)
The user armors themselves and their allies with the iron bark of primeval forests. The user is granted armor 2, which stacks with any equipment they may be wearing. This effect may be extended to up to three five allies, for an additional four qi each time. The armor granted by this technique may only be bypassed by perfect damage. This effect lasts 3 turns.
Above are the changes to TRF this turn. Here are the highlights:
  • We now give ourselves and nearby allies +1 to Armor Value, which is a really impressive passive.
  • Deepwood Vitality got a MASSIVE boost. It can now link more allies (3->5 targets), and give TWO bonus health instead of one. And the dispel gets +3 now.
  • Ten Ring Defense also got an impressive boost. It lasts longer (3->5 turns), and now downgrades two points of damage instead of just one. It also grants us +2 Qi/turn in recovery on turns when we don't take damage.
  • Hundred Ring Armament got nothing. Well, it can target more allies now, but since we have to pay 4 Qi per ally targetted we are highly unlikely to use that upgrade.

Even if she doesn't kill him, her talk about neutralizing his threat makes me nervous. I don't give a shit about Renshu himself, but I don't want Meizhen to run afoul of the Elders' limits by going too far. And doing anything like crippling him or otherwise doing lasting harm to the development of one of the top contenders for the tournament might actually be enough to get them off their asses and enforce the rules they otherwise ignore.

Still got my eye on those Rimefur Wolves though, the alpha's core would be perfect for upgrading our Blizzard Pin.

Yay! Meizhen can teach us about neutralizing enemies without killing them! Good lesson to learn from our best friend.

"You have enemies now, ones you can't dismiss as beneath you. I wonder if you will have more excuses… Or if you will remember how to live free, and how enemies deserve to be treated."
For the moment I'll follow this, but a convincing argument might persuade me otherwise. The one issue is if he loses all his resources he is still a third realm cultivator.

Also, this highlights why having spiritual support would be useful: Zhengui uses spiritual unarmed as well - and the same will likely be true of many spirits that we get.

Also, TRD's new qi regen would synergise nicely with combat stealth tactics in the mist.
