Forge of Destiny(Xianxia Quest)

I like this one the best. I think Cai is important this week because it feels like a nice capstone to our interactions with her so far, and there are reasonable odds that we'll hit green next week. Which means that our next interaction with her could be "so, you going to join?". I feel it's important to manage our relationship with her as much as possible beforehand, and try to establish friendship with her while she's in full "needing to befriend Ling Qi" mode and we aren't a minion yet.

Other important things are making sure that TRF has a friend bonus since otherwise the odds get pretty close.

[x] Plan Let's Try This Out

Punching down argument only works if you assume we'll get caught.... and if we do the heists before we get the larceny talidmans, we might get caught.

Please wait for the talisman?

Anyway, @Kai Merah, good plan except the lack of Xiulan minor, so i can't vote for it.

Oh, and the EPC bonus should go to AE, physical doesn t need it.

Look, to be blunt, people are going to suspect us simply because we're the one most likely to pull it off given our rep. By doing it while we're still second realm though, it's not punching down, which means it's just a "Oh you :D" type reaction rather than punching down.

[X] Plan Steady as a Turtle
-[X] Argent Vent Bonus -> Argent Current
-[X] Grinning Moon Bonus -> Physical
-[X] Overflow -> Physical
-[X] Use from inventory: 3 RSS (3), 1 YSS (10), Highsun Pill
-[X] Purchase: Channel Cleansing Pill (2) + Heavy Rains Pill (10) + Gushing Spring Pill (2) + Flowing Rivers Pill (6) + Both Fire Pills (2+6) + Vigorous Sapling Pill (2) + Second Wood Pill (6) + Bear Marrow Elixir (4) + Bear's Heartsblood Elixir (10) + White Hart Elixir (6) + Steady Growth Pill (8) + Sturdy Oak Pill (18)
-[X] Total resources consumed: 3+10+2+10+2+6+2+6+2+6+4+10+6+8+18=95RSS, 1 Highsun Pill
Major Actions
-[X] Explore and Train with Golden Fields
--[X] Cultivate Argent Current
--[X] (minor) You never did get to go out have a night on the proverbial town with Xiulan, see if she's still up for that
-[X] Train at the vent with Su Ling
--[X] Open Arm Meridian
--[X] (minor) Invite Su Ling to join in and spar with the Ma Sisters. She could use some partners closer to her level, and more friends besides
-[X] Cultivate on your own
--[X] Cultivate Thousand Ring Fortress
-[X] Research Dragons, and how one might be appeased
-[X] Do a favor for Fu Xiang
--[X] Do x1 Favor
Minor Actions
-[X] Meizhen has been disappearing more often, she's even too busy to train this week. What is she up too?
-[X] Zhengui's pyre had begun to dim, shrinking no matter how much fuel you add. You should be there when he emerges
-[X] Work to unlock the Puzzle Box
@Codex, @Ompa60, @Grigori, @tehspooniestbard, @Aze, @OneArmedYeti - I've changed my plan above. The second Leg Meridian action has been swapped for a Favor x1 action.

Things that convinced me:
  • @Alectai's point about the raid being seen as exceptionally bad taste if we were punching down on top of everything else
  • @Black Noise's reminder that we should get some autos in our breakthough, which means it IS going to be easier to open meridians in green even despite not having the Highsun Pill as support

I'm doing a single favor because:
  • A number of people expressed 1-2 as a preference,
  • I want to minimize risk, and
  • I don't want Li Suyin to feel more bad about it if she finds out.

Hmm, I'd like a CRX action, but I suppose we can put it off until next week, we'll still have some minors after all.

I'd vastly prefer doing two over one, but at least it's getting the Favor at all. Maybe we could trade out the puzzle box for CRX?

[X] Plan Steady as a Turtle

I wonder if the four argent arts were not originally intended to be for each of the four "fighting" origin options. Scholar and Artisant having no real reason to go mukle in Trial Sites...

Aren't we still waiting for our commissioned Formations/Larceny tool to come in before doing Fu Xiang's favors? Or are we relying on our slippers and ring being enough?

And I don't understand the punching down argument, since the whole point of doing it right is so that people don't suspect that we're responsible and ban us from the market. I thought the plan was to leave signs implicating someone else, either other production rivals or Yan Renshu?

And @PrimalShadow can I ask why Cai Renxiang isn't more of a priority for you? I thought the whole point of socializing her was to get Ling Qi to be friendly with her before we had to make the decision whether or not to join her after breakthrough. We're only a few turns away from that, and we've only just gotten a non-business Minor with her, so why are you letting up now?

They can't ban us from the market just by suspecting us. Only by catching us. It's a lot less bad for our reputation though to be 'Suspected' of something like this while we're still a peer, than 'Suspected' while we're a superior.

I'd prefer at least two, as an apology for how long we took. I wouldn't do less than two at least. Three is debatable, but two is my bottom line.
I think two would be the ideal number. It gives us a buffer against unlucky rolls, and communicates that although we are greteful, we do not like acting against people that have not harmed us.
Timing is irrelevant, you could argue that the closer to the tournament we do it, the less time they will have to recover.
Still, if we don't do all three we have to choose who to spare. A little investigation over which one seems more likeable would be in order.

yech, only 1? While we don't necessarily need 3, it is good to go above the minimum in order to show that we're helpful to Fu Xiang, and cultivate a positive relationship with him. This is useful to us.

@yrsillar could we do a dynamic number of favors? What I mean by this is that Ling Qi goes and does them, but if it turns out that the defenses are stronger than she expected then she plays it safe and cuts her losses, while if they turn out to be easy she just does all of them. Mechanically, what I mean by this is that we do it until we use our reroll, and then we finish things up there. This might mean only doing 1, it might mean doing all 3.

[X] Plan Let's Try This Out

Not doing Xiulan minor to get both Cai and Meizhen, but we are taking her out to hunt wolves with us, which is arguably better (she gets to set things on fire and show off for us).

Though @Kai Merah, your formatting is a bit off;

If we do only 1 favor as in my plan, our odds of getting caught go down sharply, since we have our reroll in case things go wrong.

Waiting for the talisman isn't a bad idea, but it would take close to a month; if we want to do the favor before breakthrough, we have to do it without the talismans.

Hmm, I'd like a CRX action, but I suppose we can put it off until next week, we'll still have some minors after all.
I would vote for a CRX action next turn. It makes sense to do before we finish breakthough through; I just don't think it is top-priority right now.

Punching down argument is nonsense. It's sabotage. It's already dishonorable. They and their backers aren't going to be any less mad if we did it as a yellow.
There are levels of dishonor. It is dishonorable to punch down, and it is dishonorable to sabotage someone's project in a production contest, but doing both at once is worse than doing either alone.

[X] Plan: The Final Countdown

Three favors and letting Meizhen do her thing on her own.

His art negates multi attacker

Is ot the same art as oneness under heaven?

Because then, I think it's the last argent art. It mesh well with the concept of a small grou of bruiser waddling in the ennemy camp and survive to fight the ennemy boss that others argent art seem to have.

Also oneness under heaven seem to make all attacks non lethal damage.

On the Meizhen minor, don't we already have a clue of what she is doing?
In the Cui interlude it was shown that she was hunting Yan Renshu, probably for our sake.
Isn't is likely that she still is doing it?
In that case it would be a very good idea to ask Meizhen about it., if only because Ling Qi would definitely want a piece of the bastard for herself.

You think the people who lose their projects are going to go "well, at least she wasn't a green"? Fuck no. Same for the people in charge of market security and those who think the production track contest should be a perfectly fair test of skill. If someone gets sabotaged, the rep change is not even one tiniest bit dependent on our realm. It's a nothing argument based on a set of reactions that make zero sense.

My whole point was that if we do it right, they shouldn't suspect us in the first place. We have no public motive to go after these guys, and it wouldn't take much to leave evidence that implicates more likely suspects, like other production competitors. There were plenty of ideas for this thrown out earlier in the thread.

Honestly? I think we've basically learned all we need to regarding Cai; at this point, I'd be pretty comfortable taking her offer. I do want to get more socializing in before then, but we will have a chance to do that next turn.

Hmm.
@Alectai - I would be okay with doing
-[] Try for x2 Favors, but stop at 1 if the first heist doesn't go well (i.e. we have to use our reroll)
Would you be willing to merge plans there?

"Production Track Contest"

"Perfectly Fair Test of Skill"

Anyone who actually believes these contests are perfectly fair has not been paying attention. They are absolutely a clusterfuck of sabotage as much as they are getting good yourself.

I would consider that an acceptable compromise, yes.

I'd rather skip Cai and do the night out with Lan Lan. Also think we can do wolves on our own.

Anyway, @Kai Merah, good plan except the lack of Xiulan minor, so i can't vote for it.

Sorry, but I feel like the Cai minor is very important for this turn. Even though there's no Xiulan minor, I did invite her to burninate wolves with us though. She'll probably enjoy that, and even if Ling Qi can take the wolves alone, it's good to bring at least one backup.
