@OneirosTheWriter would you say whether this is legal?

[][SUPPORT] Runabouts and shuttles, supplied by expanding regular production rather than a temporary rush (pp cost, possible delays)

This is not at all an issue of trying to weasel out of a disadvantageous downside, I don't even particularly care about how many pp it would cost, it's a matter of the mechanical cost completely breaking immersion for me. If I had to pick between the option presented and Sulu being forced to resign I would pick resigning in a heartbeat. If I cared less about this game than I do I would quit over this, and I in fact did quit reading several quests I was catching up on over immersion breakers like this.
What do you think about my proposed Sol Heavy Industrial Complex option?

Oneiros approved it.

But she said she's okay with implementing her mandate whatever way is possible as long as it works.
AFTER we torpoded her idiocy.

As well he should be.
FUCK NO.

If he refuses a reasonable order, definitely. If he refuses an unreasonable but legal order, probably. If he refuses something blatantly illegal and she fires him ... fuck no.

BUT: This wasn't refusing an order. This was Sulu doing his goddamn job and supplying expert advice to the council.

Can we put the peacekeepers under the Explorer Corps to give them the maximum pr power? :)
I dont remember if we have already upgraded the corps or if we were just planning on it, but once they are a vice admiralty they could actually use some added stuff to organise.
I mean, having the peacekeeper infused with maximal starfleet indoctrination was proposed during the discussion and noone is more fanatic than the Corps. It also fits considering Explorer Corps is also supposed to be nonmartial except for if the federation is straight up threatened, which should be the same for our peacekeepers.
We might even get a free update for them out of this if we havent already bought that one.

Ugh, I really hate the politics part of this quest. I was hoping we would have less of that with Sousa out of office, but it seems like things are just getting worse.

Ten thousand explorer corps crew would be 200 EC crew units.

BUT: This wasn't refusing an order. This was Sulu doing his goddamn job and supplying expert advice to the council.

I strongly disagree. What Sulu did to torpedo the deal was wrong and bordering on illegal. She would be well within her rights to fire him over it.

[X][CARGO] Write in: A Self-supporting Fleet
-[X] Aim to have Starfleet's Fleet Support loop logistics requirements fully covered, the Feeder loop 75% covered, and the Industrial loop 75% covered by 2322.
-[X] Build another four dedicated auxiliary berths and assign general purpose berths as necessary, with member yards used if there are an opening.

[X][PEACE] Write-in: Ranger Corps
-[X][STAR] The Starfleet Ranger Corps will be a new command directly reporting to Commander, Starfleet.
-[X][STAR] Rear Admiral Michael Thuir will be its first commander.
[X][GEAR] Should be more in line with Caitian Frontier Police
[X][SIZE] Should be smaller, 3 battalions
[X][SUPPORT] Write-in: Metric Tonnes of Pennies
-[X] Design a new Fast Transport class suitable for transporting small and bulk cargo, as well as people.
-[X] Runabouts and Shuttles
-[X] Use Sol's Heavy Industrial Complex for production

This looks like a good plan, but I don't think N'Gir will let us have all of it.

I proposed making it an independent command under Thuir.

He's the best available Rear Admiral.

I'm going to wait a while on this vote. I'd rather see what comes up than feed the bandwagon. My impressions, however, are with @drake_azathoth . We got what we wanted. She was going to drop this on us, and simply read us in. We have been brought to the negotiating table to give our input.

In other news, we got played by the Amarki councillors, though I think this isn't going to go the way they want either.

What truly surprises me in all of this, however, is N'Gir's attitude. She is within her rights to be hellishly mad, but if she looked back through Federation history, she would have seen that the Admiral of Starfleet rarely just rolls over for the president. She also appointed a member of the legendary Enterprise crew. I'm not sure what her expectations were, exactly, but they sure as hell weren't accurate.

*sigh* People are making too many independent plans that only differ minimally from eachother. I swear some write-ins are basically the same only worded differently.

I strongly disagree. What Sulu did to torpedo the deal was wrong and bordering on illegal. She would be well within her rights to fire him over it.
Playing politics has been part of the quest since turn fucking one. Talking to the Council is how we do that. It's called the snakepit. We have PP as a resource for a reason.

I'm done talking about this, no point in discussing things with people pretending that using a core game mechanic is a firing offense.

Barring a massive retcon you are canonically wrong, because if you are right doing anything on snakepit turns is justification for firing.

Uhh... The Cargo vote is broken?

Even if she doesn't let us have all of it - say, she wants bigger - then we can make that concession. Besides, she's development. She'll go for the shipyards and the new fast transport class.

Ten thousand explorer corps crew would be 200 EC crew units.

Not staffed with Explorer Corps recruits, just within the hierarchy of it and with the proper branding.

I proposed making it an independent command under Thuir.

Isnt it a bit small to be directly under the admiral though?

What do you think about my proposed Sol Heavy Industrial Complex option?

Oneiros approved it.
Any temporary measure is a bit nonsensical. The various member militaries already need ground cars etc, and we already need shuttle craft and runabouts for our regular ships and scouting squadrons, so there definitely already is an existing production. If that existing production was coincidentally already at its limits it highly needed expansion anyway. It's not like battalions are all manifesting out of thin air simultaneously and only waiting to be deployed, they even were stated to be built up gradually. At worst some of the battalions initially get fewer runabouts than they would have liked for training, but it's not like them being ready to be deployed is particularly urgent anyway. The established mechanic for permanently expanding production capacity is a pp cost.
Using an general purpose capability rather than explicitly diverting capabilities meant for something else is a slight improvement I suppose.

Now that she has to, yes. Being confronted with the idea that the yes man you expected to have installed has an opinion and it's not yours is often something of a shock.

As well he should be.

"Sulu, I want you to launch a preemptive strike against the Cardassians/fire all humans/vulcans/andorians from Starfleet."

"Mrs. President. No."

"Okay, you are fired."

This is basically what you are supporting as a mindset in the Federation's Presidents. That whatever issue they want Starfleet to handle, including stupid things, can be things Commanders of Starfleet can be fired over if they say no.

I'm basically going to stop voting outside of research and EC stuff for a while.

I have no idea what Onieros is thinking dropping THIS on the player base when everyone including him is sick of crisis events and Sousa deals weren't that great as a mechanic.

That would be a fine thing to be fired over, though? In resigning or being forced to step down we would effectively torpedo the militant brain bug's order
