Forge of Destiny(Xianxia Quest)

This tumblr post reminded me of something very important

we all know teenage boys are the opposite of charming and smooth around girls they like, but the same holds true for teenage girls around girls they like

so Bai Meizhen having literally superhuman composure would be no defense against going OH NO SHE'S HOT

/end very important psa

Huh that's honestly not a bad idea tho it runs the risk of her to ask us to play more songs and we might not know that many...which could anger her. Honestly tag just seems like the better option here instead of trying to come up with some write in.

Time isn't safe with tag. Also, it's quite feasibly a str+athletics activity given the environment, which eliminates CG (our main advantage) and makes our dice pool fairly bad.

And she could just try to make us keep playing tag too, or give her more food.

On top of all this, we don't even know that such a binding would be profitable. Unwilling spirits lock up extra Qi, and they won't be willing to assist us in combat, which make then FAR inferior to willing companions. Sure, they give passive bonuses - but we don't know if they will even exceed the locked Qi in value, much less by how much.

Also! While our Qi supply isn't too valuable to us at the moment given how large it is, I expect that pool to shrink considerably once we bind the Spirit-Turtle (remember, rare spirits have high Qi maintenance costs), so the tradeoff of Qi-to-bonuses is actually going to be worse for us than it appears right now.
I've been thinking for a while now that having HUGE QI RESERVES as well as a fairly Qi-efficient arts meshes so well with having a summoner-type fighting style.

How spirit works means that a summoner-type with lots of spirits and buff/debuff basically need all the Qi, so that's a pleasant surprise to me :)

Mmmh, I guess when it comes down to it, if the spirit is not acting in good faith it's better to fight her here than fight her in the middle of other beasts... and if she attacks us because of catnip nectar and was acting in good faith, it would suck.

Showing off songs is fun. Also, our expression has been so, so slow to increase :(

An interesting write-in, but I'm afraid it wouldn't be allowed because it feels like gaming the system to attempt an action and if it doesn't work to perform another.

Going to tentatively work with this for now.

Yeah I'm changing my vote back.

Musician Ling Qi here, about to charm your Spirit Daughter into living inside her Flute instead.

Snow Mother, Snow Child
So here's a little thing on how Hanyi's mother might react to one possible series of events. I don't think it'll be canon, as it probably departs from how @yrsillar plans the 'mother's' personality, etc etc, but...

Snow Mother, Snow Child

She stared in silence at the small figure of her child, who was staring down at where her toe was sketching aimlessly in the snow.

"What did you do now, Hanyi?" She couldn't help the exasperation from seeping into her normally-calm voice. She took quite a bit of pride in showing no emotion no matter what her circumstance, whether it was scaring away overly-curious young humans from the nearby sect, explaining bluntly to the elders of said sect why a particularly arrogant child froze to death on her mountain, negotiating with the other spirits of the local domain or in her brief fling with Hanyi's frustratingly whimsical father.

And yet, for all her efforts, somehow her daughter managed to break her equilibrium. She knew she had never been that… exploratory... as a child, nor was she ever that oblivious to danger. Normally, Hanyi was kept close to her side - as much to reign in her insatiable curiosity as to keep her away from the dangers off her mountain peak.

Unfortunately, sometimes she had to deal with other matters and needed to leave Hanyi on her own, such as tonight. And, inevitably, as often as not, she'd come back to find… well, her daughter trying (and failing) to look innocent. Just like she was now.

"Well, you know the humans, the ones from the sect?"

And there was the familiar sinking feeling. She wasn't… afraid of the Argent Sect, precisely, but only a fool wasn't cautious of the power of their elders. She didn't need to have to appease or negotiate over dead students on the 'safe' road, or some elder's beard becoming extra-frosty, or whatever mischief her daughter had gotten into. And now, of all times! She sighed, almost not wanting to know more.

"Yeeesssss?" she drew out the syllable, and even oblivious Hanyi could tell that she wasn't pleased.

"One came here, to mama's yard, while you were away. A big sister, she had pretty eyes. She was awful mean, and didn't want to play, but then I convinced her to play tag and then she CHEATED and then when I told her that she was a cheat and she didn't win she said she didn't have time for me - and that's just mean again! - so I decided to teach her a lesson with the storm. But then she started playing on a flute, kinda like you do sometimes, and then everything went dark, kinda like in a snowstorm but I couldn't see a thing! I started to get kinda tired after trying to find the mean human in the dark, and then she hit me on the head and I slept for a bit. And when I woke up I was stuck half-way up the big tree over there!"

Her eye twitched. So one of the humans - probably one of the sect's disciples - had decided to take a night-time trip… on the one night she was busy… and Hanyi had bitten off more than she could chew. Well, at least the girl hadn't done much more than hurt her daughter's pride… but this was still her patch of mountain and certain boundaries should be set as a matter of principle.

Firm principle.

Having a friend on the mountain for the times we go exploring sounds great to me, and I think playing her games works better for that than distracting her with food or playing some music for her.

We should make sure not to win by too much, if we roll well enough. It probably wouldn't be fun for her and she might cause trouble.

@yrsillar, as it's relevant for the next update, you probably should update our Speed in the current attribute tab. Here it says that speed is Dex+Str+ Base Value (5 for humans) + Phys cultivation.

Currently Ling Qi has, if I am not missing anything, 5 (Dex) + 2 (Str) + 5 (Base Value) + 5 (phys cultivation) + 4 (SCS all the time), and another +3 as it's night time. So the attribute tab should be updated to 21, and we have currently 24 speed. Well, unless I am missing anything from another art or gear.
