Forge of Destiny(Xianxia Quest)

[X] Try to bribe it with beast-cores.
[X] Volunteer to return. She had only come here to help Meizhen after all

There might be a reward for us at the entrance. There might be a reward that Meizhen can share with us once she's beaten the rest of the dungeon. But even if there isn't, we still got an argent art and some nice beast cores.

I do think that attempting to bribe it is a good idea though.

The only reason I want wait and see is because I would like Meizhen to have a moment of realization. I don't like either of the other options. Letting her be the one to move forward should hopefully fix any damage our questioning her early caused.

If you trust the turtle tortoise when it says the rest of the test is solo then you should be the one to go forward. Catch a juicy rabbit for Cui on your way home.

edit: completely different animal do not want to insult it. also stunts don't seem that useful here.

She's already seen us commit social suicide so really, it's par for the course with Ling Qi.
Idunno, most moment of true derp came from the topics Ling Qi had not knowledge at all. Etiquette, that cousin thing, etc...

The previous "TALK WITH ME BAI" is pretty much the only moment where she outright dropped spagetti on the issue where she had all info required not to drop spagetti but dropped it anyway.

Can I convince you to add -[]let meizhen decide
this way Meizhen gets the realization that we support her, but can also support us in turn.

I am pretty sure that the test is to have us both try to sneak by it... and succeed. so
[] Try to convince her to try making the dash past the thing. It is bound to this chamber, and chained so tightly it can barely stand up. Surely they could get past it.

that said, I am tempted to go with
[] Wait, see what Bai Meizhen decides on her own
for the char development

its also possible that the correct answer is for both of us to volunteer to go back

So any answer that's not "betray your teammate" should be the good one. However the actual optimal one is unknown. Sadly we haven't found any treasures from the bats, though.
The bats are treasure. there are still some alive and we can still bind one as a spirit animal if the bais hold it down.

Even if he only has 1/4 of his Autos from being weakened he'd still have a sizable dice pool. Even with the lower estimate of 36.

I mean, if she knows something about this we don't and vetoes that's fine. If not, we did pretty well and competing with her on this or challenging TURTLE is a terribad idea.

My only serious concern is this is some very nasty and biased symbolic moral test where us speaking up will screw her over somehow but there's just not much we can do about that and over thinking the decision is almost definitely pointless- nearly any decision here could be taken as a failure or victory of character, we can't be sure what they're testing for.

This is a simple test of character. Whether it's testing drive and ambition, or teamwork...

It's a simple test. I don't think Write-Ins are going to improve the situation.

Anyways, I think the really interesting thing here is that Ling Qi is in a lot of ways in an inverse position than Bai when it comes to friends.

Old Ling Qi would work with people and get close to them and abandon them when they weren't useful any more. That sounds overly harsh and more intentional than it really was- but it's the truth. But now she's trying to change, to let herself grow close to others- to grow strong enough that she can afford to stand besides someone through thick and thin.

And then you have Bai Meizhen, who was presumably raised to be cynical and detached from others who potentially has already lost someone she was too close to. She sees Ling Qi as a truly good friend and is scared both by how vulnerable and the dogma of her family. I suspect if she realized the reason that Ling Qi is so firm on trying to be a decent friend is she was essentially doing what Meizhen thinks she ought to be doing- than Meizhen wouldn't be quite as... tumultuous around Ling Qi.

One is a girl trying to make friends even when it goes against her instincts and experiences.

The other is a girl wary of friendship despite experience and instincts approving of it.

[jk] this test of character is way too obvious, tell the elders they need to be more subtle! also because i know it's a test the results it gives are invalidated

The problem is, is it a test of bravery? Ambition? Humility? Wisdom? Friendship? Obedience?

It is entirely possible it is just what it appears and the quality it tests for is leadership- there are plenty of ways to obtain cooperation from another cultivator beyond violence, starting with intimidation and ending with bribery. Simple friendship and loyalty is somewhere in between.
