Forge of Destiny(Xianxia Quest)

hmmm. Since both presence and manipulation are on the edge, I'll divide my points between them. That way we can get two dots for the price of one!

@yrsillar Please place one of my points into presence and another one into manipulation.

Ah what the hell, I'm defecting. Since our arts are so Qi heavy to begin with the (hopeful) extra qi (and therefore arts and damage mitagation) of the plan and the slightly higher chance of a breakthrough convinced me.

@TheLastOne would you be willing to add apologising to Li Suyin for how things went with Han Jian's group?

Sure.

Ooh, just had a thought, though can't put it into practice this week or next, probably. We get +5 auto success a week to spend on Argent techniques... I wonder if any of the techniques in the Library are Argent. I want to get to Argent Soul 5 first, but once we start cultivating Eight Phase we'll be losing those successes. An art we could funnel them to would be great.

@yrsillar does the DV cap for weapons apply when fighting mortals? Because it seems weird that you can't kill someone with a dagger with a lucky shot, so I'm wondering if that's a property of Cultivators.

Huh? What extra Qi? Maybe I'm missing something, but both plans should give equal Qi bonus rolls. The tea action is a separate roll, and prompts Qi rolls from Sable Light as such.

Sure.

Almost certain there's no non-cultivation Argent arts.

If both Physical and Spirual fill, overflow from them will go to qi by default. It's not going to be huge if it happens, so it's not something I would use to argue with, but I won't complain.

On review I may have been derped on how the sable light pill worked. I thought it triggered only on if you successfully finished a level of the art or opened the meridian you were using it for. It seems it does work just on general successes instead.

And now I need to think.

EDIT: Plus what @TheLastOne said

I wouldn't depend on that honestly. Like, I think we need to be dashing for the finish line right now to whatever extent doesn't sabotage us, and so I think my plan is clearly superior there. I think we're going to need arm arts, so I want to be able to grab one soonish, so I think it's superior there. I think the last level of zephyr is nice, but not as nice as doing breakthrough sooner, so I take a hit here and think it's worth it for the quicker breakthrough.

Though are the major differences though. I don't think @Arkeus's plan is bad, just not as good.

I do like both plans and agree we will need arm arts eventually, just not sure what's more valuable right now. Plus as I said I had a major derp about how the Sable light pill actually worked, so I wrongly thought that @Arkeus ' plan would get us one fewer Qi rolls from the sable pill.

Eh answer hazy there, but I'd lean yes. You're unlikely to be fighting mortals at any point though. Your average human only has like five health to begin with though so it's not that much difference.

[Morally Upstanding Protagonist]But what about when a clan offends us, and we have to kill them all down to the last blade of grass in their lands? Some of the children must be moral![/Morally Upstanding Protagonist]

So quick question. You mentioned we could filter our liberty search by element. Is Argent an element? The Vent we have supports Argent techniques, so that argues yes it could be, but it's not a definite.

I'm pretty sure "I WILL EXTERMINATE YOUR ENTIRE CLAN" shit doesn't happen in this setting, since we have a strong central authority.

You'd have to do some real shit for the Emperor/Empress to allow a complete purge to the bedrock like that, even for a relatively minor clan. You'll note that most of the other settings that have this as being a thing tend to have very weak central authorities that don't give a single flying fuck about what their subordinates are doing.

I'm honestly wary of opening too many Meridians. While it's a boon for now, remember that there are only so many we can open, and we lack the Arts for now. As such I would rather leave that to the future us to decide which meridians to open, so that we have a less of a headache (due to lower DC for opening meridians).

And Qi is the last place where the extra dices should go if possible. It's the most easiest part of cultivation to get due to our Sable light pills, and the benefits are so minor it's not worth it. Instead getting those dices into some Arts may give us a huge bonus once the truce ends. As such while "Plan do what we planned to do" does get extra dices into cultivation (and that is only if we get ridiculous rolls), it's far inferior to the possible benefits we get from Arts from the "Plan The Zephyr Will Fly" (it's also possible that we get extra Qi from here too, but less likely, but instead we may upgrade a art).

Just picking a cultivation Art and cultivating it for benefits may be a better way to get Qi then just cultivating Qi directly, and with the existence of Bone Marrow Elixir, the need for those dices is almost non-existent.

And if we are taking all those Wind boost cultivation pills, it makes sense to try to get the max out of them on Zephyrs breath.

That's how you end up with a dozen elite IRS Ninjas Ministry of Integrity Agents dropped on your head.

In regards to the actual question...

It's is but its a special sect thing, and such techniques aren't available in the archive.

Well, your logic behind preferring Qi involved a focus on Arts. Given that, it seems like you'd prefer the plan that empowers an Art sooner rather than later? We are heading into... rough if not stormy waters, and quite possibly the latter.

Both plans should bring us to Peak in at least one of physical/spiritual anyway, so there's not a huge difference between them there that I can see.

As mentioned by others, we have the same Qi rolls and Qi gains (The plans need to overflow both physical and spiritual to overflow on Qi, which won't happen unless we get rolls like last turn).

Likewise, both plans are assured (99.999% chance) to be able to try to breakthrough next week, no difference there.

Are you going to get in the way of us being moral here? Don't you know being merciful to your enemies is being merciless to your friends? Are you the kind of person who backstabs those who trust you (by letting someone who looked at you wrong that one time live. Or letting any of his extended family live, because they might seek revenge on your totally justified killing.) or are you the kind of person who defends them (by raising the stakes to life or death in every conflict, till everyone who might threaten your friends is dead. Or your friend is dead, and then you avenge them.)!

That's how you end up with a dozen elite IRS Ninjas Ministry of Integrity Agents dropped on your head.

*Grumble grumble functioning society grumble grumble always getting in the way grumble barbarians.*

Plan Plan means we can probably try twice though. Breaking through is hard in one turn, so it does meaningfully raise the odds.
