Like, if we had not given this thing extra impulse engines, more cruising speed to hunt down enemy ships, and basically like, the most maximal maximum options in almost every category? Then yeah, sure, we could have simply designed the Kea Mk. II, given it phasers and a couple of torps, and called it a day. A large generalist which can absorb a lot of fire.
But we haven't actually designed that ship. So if we now try and arm it like the Kea Mk. II, it won't work very well, as it has a load of expensive features which are only worthwhile if they have the firepower to justify them. Doubling the impulse engines, for example, is great on a battlecruiser, but completely unnecessary an an actively terrible idea on a Kea Mk II! The quad nacelles even moreso!
So let's please like, vote for the design we actually have? Or to put it another way, accept that the previous eight votes had consequences, and we need to actually accept those consequences. We cannot at the last minute suddenly try and turn this back into a cheap capital ship. Compromising the design's throw weight over less than 10% of the net cost in a vain attempt to turn it into the Kea Mk. II is insane, in my view.
