As someone who passionately argued for one of these, this is the sweetest bandwagon :V
Glad we'll get to screw Marienburg without giving up on a truly unique opportunity!

You lucky kids! I remember when the idea for a Kislev canal was first proposed and then it seemed like a Pipedream! That little line was just some thread madness curiosity! Now we are actually doing it!

Though I hope at least that we will do some proper follow up actions to enjoy all the narrative potential here! Introducing ourselves to the Elector Count of Ostermark to let him know we are making him rich, Telling Wilhelma that the canal was such a good idea we are doing it again and letting the Chamberlin of the Seal know we now have yet another tool to screw over Marienburg to work with!

There is just so much fun to work with!

Yep, the canal satisfies most of my criteria, and my concerns are somewhat hypothetical. I do assume that the non-specificity will give Boris the most freedom in how he accomplishes it. I don't consider it a requirement that Kislev foot the entire bill or do all of the work, getting the Empire to do some of it would be fine in my eyes, but Kislev has to actually commit the resources and make the offers. Also don't consider it urgent. Literally most of the risk my brain is seeing is the idea that he will have to pull away from his higher priorities of military buildup in order to do this huge infrastructure project that'll only pay off in the long term and for now is digging a hole in his treasury.

Also, yeah Cooperation feels like a forced move from a zoomed out perspective, we have paid truly insane opportunity costs in order to pull this Project together and bring every possible source of expertise onto the table, because we are the only person who could do that. Many of our reward votes have funneled everything towards making this work. So solving a pretty major foreign policy snafu in the Empire's favor, or just giving every stakeholder enough money to truly make up for their respective investments, both of those things are just more opportunity costs we all gotta shoulder for the pipe dream of improving the Waystone Network.

In addition Kislev gets clean streets and local Niter production. If some of those employees also report on local news and rumors back to us then that's even better.

Now, my argument for why Kislev's price should be aiding Vlag which I really should have posted earlier so it would gain more traction goddammit why did yesterday have to be the day I spent 16 hours asleep recovering instead of- ahem, anyway,

  • While Kislev will likely spend significant resources aiding Karak Vlag already it will not be as much aid as a Transcendent Boon would provide.
    • While this would weaken Kislev it would be a relatively small cost to Kislev for a relatively large amount of aid for Vlag. Overall it would slightly diminish Kislev's chances of surviving the next Everchosen while greatly increasing Vlag's chances of surviving, which I believe would be worth it.
That said I suspect my proposal is dead in the water given the current bandwagon seems to be in favor of a new canal, which I feel is inferior to the prospect of BOOK so I'll probably be approval voting that and why did yesterday of all days have to be the day that fatigue, avolition, and depression finally caught up with me aaaagh-
