Lights... Camera... ACTION!!: A Hollywood Quest

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT
Hi Magoose here one of the guys helping Duke.

So we have some bad news.

The quest has been canceled as duke does not want to write it anymore.

I'm going to ask if I can take over for it, because I like this quest, and it would be a shame to kill it
TBF, Mags, you have been doing a lot of the heavylifting for the quest, so this will be in good hands. :)

To be clear to everyone, this is just me burning out on imagination of the quest, since my muse has been hitting me over the head a lot with so many different ideas that I just can't find myself too interested in this.

I'll still hang out here, though, since this still does have a sepcial place in my heart.

I'd like to thank you all for making this a wonderful experience while it lasted.

I'd also like to thank @Magoose, @Fluffy_serpent, and @Martin Noctis for doing so much to help prepare and write this quest. I couldn't have done it without you all. :D

I'll see you all around.

With so many regards, Duke William Of.

Dreaming of the Morphing Grid
Dreaming of the Morphing Grid:

Even before we were bought out by Lucasfilm Unlimited, there were an intense number deals and contracts that we'd built throughout the world, such as the one we'd had with Toei regarding their usage of Spider-Man [which was, for lack of a better word, a very strange adaption] and that we'd already been in the process of having them agree to our own adaption of their works, specifically their Super Sentai series that had spun off as a spiritual successor of sorts for the Spider-Man adaption. Mike Eisner, when he had learned that our buyout might have jeopardized our current dealings had personally seen to it that any ruffled feathers were smoothed out, being supposedly quoted for saying "If Toei is willing and able, let's give their competition in Toho another black eye".

Which is how we Marvel comic book writers ended up gathered around the table, excitement buzzed in the air, with Toei's appointed translator helping us in adapting their beloved superhero franchise. And so he did, the Translator began to recount the detailed summary of Toei's Super Sentai series, their voice resonating with passion and knowledge. With each word, they painted a vivid picture of the extraordinary heroes donning their colorful spandex suits, wielding incredible powers, and defending Earth from all manner of threats. We listened intently, captivated by the high-energy action, diverse characters, and the underlying themes that permeated each season.

As the Translator continued, they seamlessly transitioned to sharing their own experiences and insights. They spoke of the unique qualities of different Super Sentai iterations, drawing our attention to the rich mythology, historical inspirations, and futuristic concepts explored throughout the franchise. We were enthralled by their descriptions of the heroes' personal challenges and the bonds they forged with their teammates, emphasizing the power of friendship and teamwork. The Translator's role as a cultural liaison became evident as they not only translated the narrative but also provided us with a deeper understanding of Super Sentai's essence. They highlighted the significance of the heroes' transformation sequences, the symbolism behind their colorful costumes, and the awe-inspiring battles fought with giant mecha. Through their guidance, we began to grasp the dynamic storytelling techniques and the vibrant spirit that made Super Sentai an enduring franchise.

Inspired by the Translator's passionate translations, we felt the creative energy surge within us. We saw the potential to infuse elements of Super Sentai into our Marvel stories, to merge the vibrant worlds and create something truly remarkable. The Translator's presence reminded us of the power of cross-cultural exchange, where diverse influences and perspectives could intertwine, enriching our storytelling. As our collaboration progressed, we engaged in a dialogue of ideas, bouncing concepts and possibilities off one another. The Translator's voice seamlessly wove between languages, sharing our thoughts with the Super Sentai world and bringing back insights that ignited our imaginations. Together, we embarked on a journey to create a fusion of storytelling, blending the best of both universes into thrilling adventures that transcended boundaries. But as the day progressed into weeks, and weeks into months, I couldn't help but day dream of an American Sentai team...

It took awhile, but eventually, after an...ininteresting conversation I overheard of the new boss screaming the praises of the NY Rangers this seasons after they won against the LA Kings, I finally had a name for what I wanted to call them:

Marvel Presents: The Mighty Morphing Power Rangers- Year One (Earth-1993):

In the fictional town of Angel Grove, California, a seemingly ordinary teenager named Tommy finds himself unwittingly thrust into a world of darkness and power. As an unreliable narrator, Tommy shares his perspective on the events that unfold, taking readers on a journey that blurs the lines between heroism and villainy.

It begins when two astronauts on a moon mission release the malevolent sorceress Rita Repulsa from her ancient confinement. Little does Tommy know that this seemingly insignificant event will shape his destiny. As the evil Rita sets her sights on conquering Earth, Tommy finds himself drawn into her web of manipulation and corruption. In his own words, Tommy recounts the moment when Rita's magic ensnares him, transforming him into the Green Ranger. Under her control, he becomes a formidable adversary, battling the very heroes who are sworn to protect the planet. Through his distorted lens, Tommy describes his encounters with the Power Rangers, highlighting his belief in his own superiority and his twisted sense of justice.

As the story progresses, Tommy's narration becomes increasingly conflicted. He reveals his doubts and moments of inner turmoil, hinting at a flicker of humanity beneath his villainous facade. Despite his allegiance to Rita, Tommy's perspective wavers, leaving readers to question whether he is truly evil or a victim of circumstance. In a pivotal turning point, Tommy sabotages the Command Center and succeeds in severing the Rangers' connection to their source of power. His actions plunge the world into chaos, and he revels in his apparent victory. But even as he basks in his triumph, doubt creeps into his narrative, raising doubts about his motivations and the truth of his transformation.

It is during a climactic battle, shrouded in uncertainty, that Tommy's perspective begins to shift. As he faces off against the Power Rangers, he experiences a glimmer of doubt, a semblance of empathy. It is in this moment that Tommy starts to question his allegiance to Rita and the path he has been forced to tread. With the help of an unexpected ally, Tommy manages to break free from Rita's control. His narrative becomes fragmented, filled with fragmented memories and conflicting emotions as he grapples with his newfound freedom. Tommy's voice, once confident and unwavering, now trembles with vulnerability as he embarks on a journey of redemption.

As the story unfolds, Tommy's unreliable narration reflects his internal struggle to reconcile his past actions with his desire to become a force for good. Through his perspective, readers witness his gradual transformation from villain to nascent hero. Tommy's narrative becomes a testament to the complexity of human nature, reminding us that even those who walk the path of darkness can find redemption and forge a new destiny.

A/N: Feeling lazy burntout today, so I left everybody unnamed, leaving it up to discussion as to who exactly was involved. Mostly written out of nostalgia, as beyond this season and early Dino Thunder, I haven't kept up to date with the series outside of one or two copies of the Lord Draken comic run.

Made Tommy the POV character, since a large part of the season had centered around his character journey and made him an unreliable narrator so that, when it comes time to make the show, there's enough wiggle room to avoid most complaints about any "changes" to the goings on of the other characters.

[EDIT: For clarity.]

Compiled a list of purchases and expansions to Lucasfilm Unlimited, to be used in the next decade or so; y'all welcome to offer suggestions or critiques, more than likely forgot something obvious:

-[] Investing in the Future: You want to Spend some of that money you made into the company and make the whole thing better DC: ??? (Linetail what you want to invest in, and how much money you want to invest in it).
--US of A--
--[] Atari, Inc. [ $45 Million ]: We propose the acquisition of Atari by Lucasfilm, with the goal of gaining access to greater computing power. By purchasing Atari, we envision harnessing their advanced technologies and expertise in the gaming industry to enhance our computing capabilities. With this strategic move, Lucasfilm aims to leverage Atari's resources to drive innovation in our film production processes, special effects, and immersive storytelling. This strategic move will enable Lucasfilm to bolster our capabilities in film production, visual effects, and immersive storytelling. With access to Commodore's advanced computing resources, we will push the boundaries of cinematic innovation, delivering unparalleled experiences to audiences worldwide. Together, Lucasfilm and Commodore International will revolutionize the entertainment industry, cementing our position as pioneers in the intersection of technology and storytelling.
Note: Given the recent release of George's consumer-grade digital camera through Polaroid, it might be worth it to ensure that we have a hand in supplying consumer-grade computers in order to provide the general public a place to store and edit their photos. More of an either/or situation in terms of choices.

--[] Stratasys [$80 Million]: Lucasfilm plans to acquire Stratasys, a leading provider of 3D printing solutions, to enhance its technological capabilities and expand its expertise in the field of additive manufacturing. The acquisition of Stratasys will provide Lucasfilm with access to cutting-edge 3D printing technologies and a robust portfolio of patents and industry knowledge. By integrating Stratasys' resources and expertise, Lucasfilm aims to revolutionize its production processes, streamline prototyping and manufacturing, and bring innovative designs to life with greater efficiency and precision. This strategic move will enable Lucasfilm to unlock new creative possibilities, accelerate product development, and reinforce its position as a pioneering force in the entertainment and technology industries.
Note: Unavailable until 1989, they are creators of the 3D Printer that all modern ones are based on. Useful for prop making and maybe...

--[] TSR, Inc. [$22 Million] After much prompting from Mike and Carrie, especially following the release of R. Talsorian's Cyberpunk TTRPG, you've finally given in and decided to back Lucasfilm Unlimited's acquisition of TSR, Inc. Shockingly there hasn't been much interest in their game beyond the nieche, even though most everyone you know plays it. So, Mike had a plan that involved a lot of fluff words that went something like: "The initial phase involves conducting market research to assess TSR, Inc.'s current market position and potential synergies. A financial assessment will follow to evaluate the company's valuation, assets, and revenue streams. Strategic alignment will be identified, focusing on how the acquisition can enhance Lucasfilm's existing intellectual properties. Legal and regulatory considerations will be addressed to ensure a smooth acquisition process. A detailed integration plan will be developed-". You know, making it pretty for the lawyers.
Note: You know what this is, why this is.

--Global--
--[] Bertelsmann SE & Co. KGaA [$100 Million]: Lucasfilm envisions acquiring Bertelsmann, a global media, services, and education company, to strengthen its position as a leader in the entertainment industry and expand its reach into new markets. The acquisition of Bertelsmann will provide Lucasfilm with access to a vast network of publishing, broadcasting, and education assets, as well as a diverse portfolio of renowned brands and content. By integrating Bertelsmann's extensive resources and industry expertise, Lucasfilm aims to enhance its content distribution capabilities, broaden its global audience base, and drive innovation in media and education. This strategic move will enable Lucasfilm to leverage synergies across different sectors, foster cross-platform collaborations, and solidify its position as a dynamic and influential force in the evolving landscape of media and entertainment.
Note: Already checked, Bantam is already owned by Random House, which is already owned by Bertelsmann. This option offers an enormous boost to the company, given that we will be able to directly source poplar, and not so popular, publications for a film adaption, and that doesn't even touch all the other opportunities here, such as fixing education text books and their prices.

--[] Shogakukan Inc. [$100 Million]: Lucasfilm envisions acquiring Shogakukan Inc., a prominent Japanese publishing company, to strengthen its presence in the manga industry and expand its storytelling capabilities. The acquisition of Shogakukan will provide Lucasfilm with access to a vast library of popular manga titles and foster collaboration with talented manga artists, enabling the development of captivating content. By integrating Shogakukan's expertise and resources, Lucasfilm aims to enhance its position as a global entertainment powerhouse, catering to diverse audiences and establishing a strong foothold in the Japanese market. This strategic move will empower Lucasfilm to create compelling narratives across various mediums, promote cultural exchange, and solidify its influence in the dynamic world of manga and beyond.
Note: Owners of Weekly Shonen, and methinks a worthwhile expansion to Lucasfilm Unlimited as both a publishing house and would give us the ability to expand into addition markets, such as Light Novels and Manga (beyond just acquiring the Japanese readership alone).
--US of A--
--[] Lucasfilm Legal Expansion [$250 Million]: In light of persistent legal challenges from various entities, Lucasfilm recognizes the need to strengthen and expand its legal operations to ensure optimal effectiveness and precision. Operating on a global scale demands the highest level of legal acumen and strategic prowess. As a major player in the industry, Lucasfilm understands that errors and missteps are simply not an option. In this critical phase, the company is committed to investing in a robust legal infrastructure that can adeptly navigate the complexities of the world stage. By bolstering its legal team, especially overseas, implementing cutting-edge legal strategies, and prioritizing risk management, Lucasfilm aims to proactively address legal disputes, safeguard its intellectual property, and secure its long-term interests. This expansion of legal operations will empower Lucasfilm to not only compete but excel among industry giants, fortifying its position as a leader in the entertainment landscape. With an unwavering commitment to excellence and a sharpened legal focus, Lucasfilm is poised to overcome challenges and achieve continued success in an ever-evolving global marketplace.
Note: With how much we're likely to expand this decade alone, this will become increasingly important.

The studio will feature state-of-the-art facilities for pre-production, production, post-production, and visual effects, tailored to meet the unique needs of Puerto Rican storytelling. Note: This the "Escape from LA" option, where we take our section of the industry and move it somewhere else to say "Fuck you, Hollywood!". Would offer the New York instead, but there's more room for expansion here. Also doubles as the Snowbird, "Working Vacation" option where we leave LA for better weather, with a secondary bonus in making it easier to film Sea of Thieves (Quest: Pirates of the Caribbean) in a Caribbean location.

---Lucasfilm Unlimited, International Campuses---

The studio will actively contribute to the growth of Toronto's film industry, fostering partnerships with local businesses, educational institutions, and government bodies to nurture talent, drive economic growth, and establish Toronto as a global hub for entertainment. Through strategic collaborations and a deep appreciation for Toronto's creative spirit, the Aurora Campus aims to showcase the city's rich cultural heritage and amplify its impact on the global stage, while providing opportunities for emerging talent and contributing to the continued success and expansion of the Canadian film industry.
Note: Given their lower taxes on filming, this might be a move should attempt by the '90s.

--[] Lucasfilm Korea: Bluemoon Campus [$100 Million]: Lucasfilm envisions expanding its presence into Hallyuwood, the dynamic Korean entertainment industry. The plan is to establish its Bluemoon Campus in Seoul, serving as a cutting-edge production hub for Korean dramas, films, and music. The plan is to establish the Eclipse Campus as a cutting-edge production hub for film, television, and digital content. Note: Beyond getting a foothold into Hong Kong and getting Jackie Chan on our side, pivoting the martial arts films in our favor, it will terrify the PRC something fierce.

--[] Lucasfilm Nigeria: Shootingstar Campus [$100 Million]: Lucasfilm envisions expanding its presence into Nigeria, where a vibrant Nigerian film industry is beginning to establish itself, calling itself Nollywood. The plan is to establish the Shootingstar Campus in Lagos, serving as a state-of-the-art production hub for Nollywood movies and television shows. Note: Since the 1990s, this has exploded into one of the largest filmmaking industries on the continent, often keeping pace with Bollywood in terms of filmmaking quality but at a lesser volume output.

--[] Lucasfilm Europe: Sundog Campus [$75 Million]: Lucasfilm plans to expand its presence into Europe, with the best place to start in your mind is in the home country, Ireland. The Lucasfilm Europe Campus is set to be established in Galway [which, given Dublin's current urban congestion, gives the company room for expansion], serving as an office space, for production and legal, and feature state-of-the-art facilities for film production, post-production, and visual effects. By leveraging Ireland's talent pool and utilizing the country's favorable tax environment [read: tax haven], Lucasfilm aims to acquire and distribute European films and television while contributing to Ireland's entertainment industry and economic growth. The campus will foster collaboration, host industry events, and provide opportunities for local talent, positioning Ireland as a thriving hub for creative industries.
Note: The name was changed from Emerald Campus to Sundog, partly because I realized that with Sunrise we could make it a running theme with our new campuses, and partly because it's a pun about Cú Chulainn, the Hound and Incarnation of the Celtic Sun God, Lugh.

Yes, I made the campuses share a naming theme, with each name being tied to something cultural in the region. If you have a better name for that specific campus, you are welcome to share.

I'm all for the acquisitions, but the expansions into different countries I find superfluous. Most of what we would do with them we can do easily enough with the options Magoose gives us, and if chosen then I find that would make part of the quest somewhat boring.

As for the Acquisitions, I have no problem with them, but I would like to add buying Hasbro at some point, if only to get the rights for the Masters of the Universe and the G.I. Joe toy franchise. We could do so much with them in terms of storytelling and animation, perhaps a much better movie than what was given to us OTL (I mean the G.I Joe Live Action ones, oddly enough I found the He-Man Live Action movie charming).

Also, I would like to suggest buying Games Workshop in the future, and stop the End Times from ever happening in either WHF or WH40K.

Expanding locatiions is useful, gives us bonuses that feed back to the core of lucasarts, on the other hand.

I am unsure how good Atari might actually be for pushing tech forward. I mean, we might do better getting the company that done the gameboy before the Gameboy. Atari is more useful for the brand, given their system isn't actually the newest, and they have been losing people since at least the start of this year.

For Atari, i find that their acquisition would be less for technological know how, but more in experience in how to make games, which can help us when we create our Third Party Videogame company, which would allow us to stand behind the Console wars and make mint from them. Though I still hope we can make deals with Nintendo if that gets us their trust for future videogmae movies, cartoons, tv shows, etc., in the future.

Which...
Runs into the problem of them losing all of the good game devs to people who run off to other companies and headhunters snapping up disgruntled workers. Because Atari is doing a good job chasing their most important staff away treating them like cogs in a factory machine.
Wiki said:
Kaplan, who called the others "the best designers for the [2600] in the world", recalled that Kassar called the four men "towel designers" and claimed that "anybody can do a cartridge".[12]

In all honesty, the overseas expansions are more so that, when it comes to distributing overseas content, it won't need Bruce's direct oversight anymore. That, being as we go through the decades, I don't want to spend multiple turns per year anymore picking and choosing individual titles from overseas markets to distribute through the US, as it was a painful slog for me to read "Bruce wanted to watch Giant Monster Fights, and made different deals for each title" for it to ultimately amount to "a sudden, but inevitable betrayal! who could have foreseen this!". Like, I'd rather have these campuses set up overseas do that for us, all the while making their own content for later distribution through our networks, and Bruce being presented a list of titles they've acquired and prepared for us [EDIT: where we then get to decide which series gets priority for distribution that year].

It's also so that, if we wanted Bruce to act overseas, he can head to one of the campuses and arrange an appearance in their shows and movies there, with the Ireland one specifically being made to make it easier for Bruce to act in something like Doctor Who or a Shakespearean production.

Eh, the first GI Joe was fine as an intro movie but the series fell flat because somebody wanted the Rock to be the Rock in an action flick for the sequel, their cartoon *somewhat* based off that movie wasn't too bad either.

But yeah, I can add them in.

I mainly just want them for their distribution network, and as for losing customers, a large reason for that was the absolutely terrible customer service.

Absolutely, since I want Sunrise to be the face for Legend of Zelda, Metroid and Pokemon.
Nah, that's boring. I want to create our own consoles and create some domestic competition in america.
...if we go down this route, I want the OASIS console to be made real.

It's how they fucked up Prototype II, since apparently it was a political move.

That is true, but this has yet to happen, as we are still in 1980 nearly at 1981. If we can get Atari now we can still get the staff before it starts imploding and losing the best of the best.

That and reputation is the main things they have at the moment. Which is at risk of getting burned down in an attempt to fend off the competition that is squeezing them right now. Still a reason to get, but is at a timer that may come sooner than IRL.

It has already begun. It's just that it isn't visible till they started dealing blows to their stellar reputation by kicking unfinished products out the door. In fact, Actavision, whom was formed by the best of the best should already exist, as it was founded 1979, or last in quest year.

So I know I said I was on vacation.

But... I have the update all ready because I had preplanned this craziness... So I'm going to just post it and leave this here for the longest vote in this quest.

In a few hours that is.

Turn 78 (June 1980)
Turn 78 (June 1980)

As you looked at the sizzling eggs, all you could think about was how Carrie was overthinking… everything. "Carrie, it's not filmmaking. You just have to flip it before it burns."

Carrie for her part was just keeping on looking at you. "I'm still not sure it's ready."

"It won't be if you hesitate." You smiled, "just flip it."

Carrie did finally do it after some prompting, and you took a moment to breathe out a sigh of relief as the egg landed in the pan, and it continued cooking. "You know, it's going to get easier."

"It will." You replied. "Like everything we've done in our lives."

"Mommy. Can I eat something now?" Mary asked as she looked at the eggs from her chair. She was still waiting for food.

"I'm almost done dear, and then we will all eat." She said as she waited. "You said we were going to try and eat better for them?"

"We are? Eggs are healthy!" you said with a smile as you looked at the pancakes you made, taking a long whiff as you smelled it.

"Chochlate chip pancakes?" Carrie protested.

"They're kids, they can eat all this crap and nothing will happen to them, especially since Mary seems to be really wanting to try Martial arts. Also, it's been a long time since we got my pancakes."

Carrie seemed to be red, but whether it was from the eggs she was cooking, or from you, you did not know. "I know."

"Mommy, you said the words!"

Mary understood just how important that phrase was to you, but never knew the context.

She'll understand in time.

The eggs were placed onto plates. And you smiled. "Let's eat."

Okay then, obviously we're taking all the options needed from the regular options, as for the Lucasfilm options, we still need to work with the Directors, and I'm thinking we could try and see if we can buy Hasbro this time around. If not, my idea for getting the rights for the other books of Stephen King is still in the table.

Also, @Magoose, in which turn are we getting the options to have Directors come to us with their ideas/us offering other directors to direct our movies?
