[x] UES Magpie

Honestly not as bad as I thought it'd be. Yes it will die as soon as a Romulan sneezes in its general direction but at least it can dump an impressive amount of damage before it does.

I still would not want to serve on one though

It's general direction is a pretty precise area, this ship is way smaller than the Stingray, can take a hit as well as one, and can avoid fire better.

Hopefully this is our last wartime design and we can get back to Explorers though!

Speaking of the post-war ships, it'd be kind of cool if we had the choice of our next defensive technology. Like we can go Vulcan and Shields or we could go Andorian and something like beefed up integrity fields for an AU armor path instead.

On the one hand, this could be interesting. On the other hand, we know exactly how it would play out, for intra-Coalition politics' sake.

I can't help but note that with it's thin streamlined shape and relatively small size, it could probably be used as a detachable section for larger craft like what sometimes shows up in the franchise.

Modernize the components every few decades prioritizing reduced size over performance gain, trade out the torpedoes for some extra space or a science bay, the Phase Cannon for the latest generation of starship phaser, and suddenly you have an extremely versatile and warp-capable heavy shuttle attached to your ships.

It'd be absolutely overkill for the current conflict, but in a few decades, after the current war and subsequent pirate sweeps while waiting to see if peace'll stick, and they're left with a massive fleet of these space-hotrods with nukes? Yeah, I could see more than a few admirals pulling one of these from mothballs to tinker with, and then trying to get their passion project officially adopted. It's not like the same thing didn't happen a few times in canon, and doing it with one of these is a lot more reasonable than what they got up to with the larger mothballed ships...

i think that the next ship should be an auxiliary, just something like a larger cargo ship or a warship tender to resupply our ships when they are far from friendly systems

Think of the over the top techno babble we could come up with with a fresh set of technology.

Science officer: By inverting the integrity field only in prime frequencies we can create a gravitational lensing effect to glance their fire off our hull for a short time. If we time it right we can even bounce it right back at them!

Why must you tempt me into posting something I made but decided not to post. A secret I swore to keep.

As you can see here this ship isn't really an arrowhead, it's a 1/8th saucer!
With space in the center for a central control section, an orb.

(No idea what went weird with the quality, I apparently cannot into gimp.)

We have fallen directly into the Sphere-builders plan, soon they will sent their orbs to take control of out ships remotely.
