Complete with ramming speed, of course?Of course, one can't rule out naming a ship of the class that. Whatever name wins, I'm dead set on writing a 'UES Thunderchild' omake when I have the time to brain it out.
References... well let's hope the Romulans don't bring up our ship names needing more Gravitas at the peace conference.I'd honestly love a class of ships being named after various references. Like, seriously, just design a Corvette or Destroyer and have each of them be named after random memes or references. It's suitably human.
Canonical name, though.[X] UES Brazilia

Something about naming a Star Trek ship "Thunderchild" strikes me as really weird and off. Like naming it "Millenium Falcon" or "Galactica".
Don't forget the USS Wisconsin and the one time it got so angry it obliterated a bunch of troops, then the ship that was escorting it radioed 'Temper Temper'.
That is a path to some poor ship getting the name that the Royal Navy cruelly denied one of it's submarines despite popular demand: Boaty McBoatfaceI'd honestly love a class of ships being named after various references. If the warbird's shields are broken and our ship has it's polarized hull plating I could see it actually coming out of that in decent shape. This thing probably outmasses a given Warbird by a factor of two, at least. Maybe even more. She might even live through the tale (if only barely).
Problem is, that would risk the Warbird's warpcore deciding that it does not vibe with this universe anymore, while in contact with the battleship's hull.If the warbird's shields are broken and our ship has it's polarized hull plating I could see it actually coming out of that in decent shape.

UES Boaty McBoatface? Ah, that would be absolutely amazing. Just imagine getting ganked by a ship named 'Boaty McBoatface', you wouldn't live it down... if you survived. That is a path to some poor ship getting the name that the Royal Navy cruelly denied one of it's submarines despite popular demand: Boaty McBoatface
really?
We did. I assume it's because we're trying to save on everything that's not guns, so there's probably a bunch of
What? It's not hard to say that some things that humans have done were pretty cool. I'm just saying we could name ships in reference to famous ships and people who did cool things, be they soldiers, warships, scientists, or even civilian ships.
