We can though? We just can't talk about it to people who don't already know about it/aren't already Odr cultivators. It was made clear multiple times that it is possible to discuss Odr between other cultivators, though that it can be dangerous because it attracts attention.

It's actually a bit unclear whether revealing actual secrets is okay. You can definitely use the word Odr but actual instruction may still be forbidden, it's not certain either way.

so someone like Fabjorn would be able to discuss it with just us, if we could find a way to convince him to do so.

And we can get a private meeting with him so other people aren't there to overhear, sure. Or at least, he can then tell us whatever he believes is safe to tell us (based on the above).

On the subject of communication, does anyone know what update(s) we asked about long range communication seidr? Or WoG posts it was discussed if that was it? ...At least i hope at some point we asked about that, and i *think* i remember there being a bit about how its impractical for what we'd need, but i can't remember the details

Isn't that just a version of this?
-Calling for Congress: By having your fylgja make a specific, predetermined call into the fold between worlds, you call specific fylgjur in order to conduct any manner of business.

Edit: Foeman'd by IF hints.

Yeah, Calling for Congress is the relevant spell. We could try and call Farbjorn and get Odr cultivation advice. We even might...we could tell him his dad 'died', and thus start with some good news.

Maybe sometime in the next couple of turns.

Actually, looking at the Fylgja Seidr we have, would Weighted on the Scales synergize with Sundersight, allowing both an understanding of threats and weaknesses in one fell swoop?

Oh that, wasnt that like forever ago? Sure feels like he should have brought it up a lot sooner. Makes you wonder why he is bringing it up now.
Besides what others have said, I'll add that Abjorn takes his time in addressing things, because he wants to make sure his words come out correctly and that he's thought through everything. When he doesn't, he says things he doesn't mean, gets all stuttery, and gets stuck on syllables.

Mmm.

I think we can at least reassure him that we don't intend to tread any significantly new ground in the near future. Mostly because we've got a full plate and we've learned well the lesson of last time we tried to do something fancy. It's mostly just polishing what we've already discovered, and we know where things that went wrong happened--and more importantly, have a good idea of why and how to avoid them in the future.

We'd tell him if we could, but the retaliation from doing so would be... More than we can afford.

Oooh, though.

@DeadmanwalkingXI Before things lock down.

Give him an offer.

"If you want to share the risk with me, I can show you what I'm doing."

There has to be some way to mitigate the risks between the two of us at least.

All of that except the 'nothing new in the near future' is in the above and I'm not sure I'm comfortable saying that when plans might change. I did put in that we're gonna try and be as careful as we can, though.

It's the new month, my Monthly Reward Dice should have recharged.

There has to be something we can do here to offer him to share the risk here that the Enemy can't fuck with.

Oh.

Oh

We've already done it, haven't we?

The Book, it's basically a guide to the first level of Odr Cultivation if you can look between the lines. Abjorn's not smart but he is very careful.

Alright, at Alectai's suggestion, an addendum:

[X] *hug Abjorn* "I don't like thinking about either of those things either. But, and I can't talk about how, not won't but can't, stopping what I'm doing would be a surrender to an enemy who wishes foul things for all of us, for our children and their children and all the generations afterward. I try to be as careful as I can, and I don't blame you if you never want to deal with some parts of this...but I can't stop, and the others deserve to make their own choices about what risks they want to take. I do know what happened one those occasions and generally how to avoid or reduce those issues going forward, though new issues are always possible. And...if you would like, I can try and arrange for you to walk the same path and share the risks with me."

The final sentence is a substantive change, but probably a good one.

Abjorn actually is quite smart, what he isn't is fast. Remember that he usually beats Halla at Taafl. That's because she can't focus enough to use Frenzy, but Frenzy would be cheating anyway. His Hugr is lower because he doesn't think as quickly, not because he isn't a smart man.

Clearly we need to find a nice way of veiling our words in riddles that are understandable but vague, so these discussions can take place.

Riddle speech is such a xianxia standard after all! And a Norse epic one!

If we still can't share tips openly and just discuss soulscapes even in the safety of being just with other odr cultivators, there's doubtlessly ways to veil that intent. Whether we are good enough at Wordplay and potential teachers good enough at understanding is a question but maybe?

Getting help from others on the Path to godhood isat least a path I think we should try, rather than taking it all on ourselves.

I think it will be easier than trying to introduce others to the path to share the load.

I really, really feel like while we can't get away with it for everyone, we probably *should* be able to smuggle Abjorn into our Soulscape, where we can presumably give some tips. It's not the Enemy's business what married couples do in each other's homes.

Remember after all that Blackhand told us that "If the Enemy can look and listen into our Soulscapes uninvited, we are already undone".

Is this meant to be completed on our sheet?

It's on the sheet now.

Let's hope this addition works out.

I really hope so. I worry. But it's his choice.

The Fylgja-talking spell would probably work for this. We really should try that in the next few turns...next turn may or may not work out, but maybe the turn after if it doesn't.

True, the risk is in the smuggling...we dunno how storing a person in our Fylgja will work out. It's dicey...not impossible, and if we feel he needs advice we should 100% do it, but it's dicey. Actually, we might be able to ask Solrun that, thinking about it...'can you carry people unharmed in your fylgja' is not technically an Odr question, though the use case is very narrow for others.

Unrelated Odr thoughts: we have learned that feeding animals Odr and introducing it directly to them makes them much smarter or much stronger than their kind should be, basically making them magical beasts of a sort.

Could we use this on our animals more widely to create a super magical farm? Could we make a horse who is strong enough to carry us in days what should take weeks? Do Odr enhanced chickens lay special eggs that are odr enhanced from birth? What about for food, do those eggs or chickens act special?

Speaking of eating Odr, we also know that eating powerful magic during a pregnancy can affect the kids (the twins and their moon eyes).

What would happen if we ate a diet infused with Odr for the term of a pregnancy? Would our children be born with Frenzy? Would they come out with weird Odr powers, natural odr cultivators from birth?

Not a moral line I expect us to ever cross anyways, but the moon eyes are interesting.

Have we tested if odr enhanced food helps humans at all? I wouldn't say experiment on our kids, but asking Abjorn if he's up to try some special witch-food?

It's that time of the day again, voting is now closed.

I need someone to flip a coin for me.

I can find a coin, and I'll flip it in real meatspace!

@Imperial Fister , took me some time to find a coin, ask someone to flip it, and then give up after discovering it phased into another quantum reality. Never to be seen again

So I got a dime, and we got Heads.

It's worth noting that, in Norse lands, all animals are already magical beasts of one sort or another. Odr makes them more so, no doubt, but they're kinda like that already as well.
