So, I forgot to keep up with the Quest for a few days, and catch up to find that Abjorns dad has pulled a "Men would literally rip their own heart out rather than go to therapy", and now we're engaged in a neighbourly dispute with a family of invisible magic people over their magic cows.

...Yep, this is definitely still NorseQuest!

Yeah, this Quest is really something.

You watch the other way for a little, and when you read it again people are discussing abaout adopting a bear or turning a chicken into a berserker.

We've also gained the Sunfire Hugareida (by cheating) and discovered that we can probably fuse our blood with one of the fundamental elements as a Hamr thing! Details remain unclear but we're gonna figure out how to bleed sunfire.

Or whether nuclear fire is a good substitute for blood on the 'transporting oxygen' front.

See what i was talking abaout?

"Its simple! Let's just infuse the magical power we gained from one of our key life expiriences into our flesh!"
It's adventure-game logic. Use every inventory item you have on every interactable thing you can find, and if that fails start trying to use inventory items on other inventory items. Only we're using a parser rather than a gui so we don't know what the complete list of verbs is.

I'd been wondering where you'd gotten off to ;P

Been a bit busy, nice to be back!

We may not actually do that specific thing, mind you, but we're definitely figuring out how.

Neat! Be fun to see what a Sunfire Hugareida can do. The blood thing seems likely to be part of what Logi had going on during his fight with Steinarr, thinking back.

Also when we get a chance we should keep on researching the parent style to TSS now we've got the metal mountain as a lead, and keep doing our breathing exercises.

We need to somehow get to the point where we've taught Bjorney how to smith his own suit of Knightly Armour.

The main thing we want Sunfire for is Big Damage, which it should supply quite well, I think.

We've got Discord confirmation that Logi and Hymir Evershade have the knockoff version of the Hamr thing (with Fire and Shadows, respectively), and speculation that Farbjorn had the real, Infusion supported, version (with Iron).

And I think we need more than just unspecified meditating? A more specific direction to focus our meditations on than just 'a metal mountain'.

I think focussing on our breath and trying the visualise the mountain, possibly whilst continuing to focus on using breath to propel movements and attacks with the time-stutter effect, should do it. Fundamentally the thing Halla is trying to anchor to is already within herself.

We should also be tapping our various sources of information at the same time though, if for no other reason than it's intriguing, but it may also be helpful.

[X] Pump him for information
-[X] We're primarily trying to get info on who he paid to get left alone, that part seems relevant and like whoever he paid might've set this up. However, he's drunk, and there's no need to be rude, we'll use Light Touch if needed and gently guide the conversation in that direction rather than be impolite about it. We will also happily allow him to tell us things like where he's from and why his family moved here, whether they'd be open to trade in the future, things like that. That's all secondary to who they paid to be left alone, though.
-[X] Keep a careful eye out for when he tires of our company, make our goodbyes and get out of there before his mood shifts towards the truly unpleasant. Using Goal Tell and Lowest Limit to help with this inasmuch as they can.

Our action economy is pretty strained right now. We can give this meditation plan a shot, but going out and spending actions on additional information is probably not on the table for at least a couple of turns.

Another idea for the TSS Style, what about mirroring the in and out cycle of breathing with attacking and defending, like defend while you breath in, attack while you breath out. Or the other way around, though the first way feels more accurate.

We can use a research action or fold it into other stuff where we're socialising with people, especially given that IF has been fairly generous when we wanted to ask Steinarr stuff before. Solrun lives under the same roof as us now, etc..

I'm pretty dubious Solrun knows anything about a specific weird martial style. Our best bets are Sten and maybe Heima Smiles. We can see about asking Sten along with asking him about the Price of Steel, I suppose, though the two subjects feel a bit unrelated. Heima would definitely be a social action, though.

Heima's stuff is almost definitely unrelated to the TSS style. The TSS style is also almost certainly unrelated to Steel.

I agree entirely with the second point. Sten is a good source not due to anything related to Steel but because if we inherited the style due to being a smith, he might have as well. My whole point was that it was an entirely different topic than Steel.

As for Heima...he's literally the only other person we know with overt time manipulation powers. That means talking to him is a potential lead...maybe not the most reliable one ever, but we don't have a lot of them.

[X] DeadmanwalkingXI

So, it's ape-able using Alloys + Shapecrafting/Shapeshifting + Rewrites, it involves blood, but it's not the same as consuming a heart.
Is... is this about embodying/embodiment?
Avatar of x, force of nature, personification of an idea, taking up the mantle, that kinda stuff?
With the difference on shapecrafting and shapeshifting being whether you or someone else does it to you/someone else?

Sort of? Per IF on Discord the people we know have the knockoff version are Logi and Hymir Evershade and they are really into Fire and Shadow respectively. So it definitely seems to have elements of that. Exactly how it works is less clear, though.

The 'real way' is probably Hamr Infusion based and we've hypothesized that Farbjorn's thing with being Made of Iron is similar, but that's only theorizing. It'd play into the 'embodying an element' thing, though.

hmm. could it also be related to how you become a steelfather by being 'made of steel'?

its a good idea to ask her about other stuff though! even talking about the spirits in our soulscape, in a roundabout way of how spirits grow and like that.

we can also wait for Blackhand to return. I am doubtful he knows the style, but he will almost certainly have a lead or at least advice for getting one

Plausibly, though I doubt that's all there is to it.

Oh absolutely. I'm all for asking her about stuff...we're supposed to wait for Summer and do that as part of our lessons though. She's busy with her own stuff in Winter.

Our instance of Blackhand didn't remember Martial Styles existed. I'm pretty dubious he'll be very useful on the subject.

wait... oh my!
This means that yes....
and say it with me:
We can become SPEED! :V

I think I really like the Sun theme for Halla. between banish the night and its alloys, Sunfire, and her new Kenning of Sunshine, she really is starting to take on that theme. and it kinda fits, more then just fire I think. I mean, most everyone in our family is fire associated, but each has its own direction for it. Sten is Forgefire, Steinnar had Wildfire, Blackhand was Firestorm/Magma and Illimaren's fire. for everyone, Ignition is just the basis, with their own take built on top

and Halla is starting to reach that point too. her Ignition is really high(as high as Steinnar's, higher then Sten). but by now, with how many perfected tricks and how basic that stuff became, its just her form of basic attacks. not her actual 'specials'. Sunfire though can be that, in the future at least. and Sun in general.

I mean, it fits her pretty well. like the Sun, Halla is very good natured, supportive, and really helps people. she is a pretty peaceful person for a Norse, and she really leads and supports her people. like the sun.

but like the sun, she can also be terrifying and incredibly dangerous. invoke her wrath, and she will come down on you like the sun itself and drown you in fire and steel, so that by the time she is only ashes remain.

I really like that theme for Halla. and it fits with flying combat and her Skyfire thing too
