I had an idea

Since we can give people infusions we could potentially steal the idea of Knightly animal companions as well as make them cultivators in full like Bjorney presumably is.

We've seen how effective the extra combatants were during the manor raid and i think it would be worth the Odr to make it happen

[X] Offer the Dwarves the three pots of strange substance found in the Underhouse in exchange for breaking the password and returning it once they are done.
-[X] Be willing to offer Goodwill instead as suggested if that doesn't work.

spirits should be easy. Odr for service.

Solrun mentioned 'travelling the branches' which is likely connected to the travel spell(branches refers to the branches of Yggdrasil probably)

its not a very likely connection, but worth to throw in. the metal mountain can be connected to Ironjaw. he does have some metal affinity I think, and it would explain the inheriting part(since Steinnar was his student and Blackhand his companion)

Odr and possibly a small plot of land if they want to do any Farming, I speculated that Saga Expansion is effectively going from being a Karl to a Jarl, which means you're now attracting freemen to cover the lands you physically can't micromanage.

Works for me. Beaver Bone Ash would improve its ability to carve wood. So, like, double bonuses when doing woodwork.

Not much. They were relatively normal people who lived relatively normal lives. They were notable for being strong combatants, but that's not especially unique among the Norse.

The metal mountain is an NQ-specific thing, as far as I'm aware. An information action may help you here.
Cheers!

What about this one, would this be a valid write-in for the Dwarves:

Would offering them one I.O.U. for mercenary work in the future be an acceptable option here? Any particularly annoying lindwyrms they would like to be rid of?

To be clear, I'm not necessarily suggesting we'd do it for free - this would be something more like a retainer?

I personally think the way it works is you imbue the experience of a bridge at the location into a burl (assumedly by scouting it out first with your Fylgja), and by breaking it at a bridge you travel via the branches of Yggdrasil to the bridge in the experience.

Great!

[X] Offer the Dwarves a retainer for our services as a mercenary and monster-hunter at a later date. Barring a family emergency or other urgent risk to life and limb, we'll make ourselves at our earliest convenience.

I think that the carbon flour is probably linked to some quite potent stuff the Dwarves are not allowed to talk about - although Toki actually tried to give us a few hints - so spending it on this isn't ideal.

Good timing, but unfortunately not much time for others to pick up on it as voting is now closed

Might be the Gotland Style?

Had to be a reason why Blackhand decided to set up camp there to work on his Masterwork, a giant metal mountain would explain it. He did weirdly mention once that he knew about magnetism.

Honestly this is a tad frustrating given the largest source of the delay here was waiting an hour and a half to get an answer. But never mind, it happens.

Unfortunate to give up the carbon flour though. It seems fairly likely that this was connected to a pretty big Dwarven secret, either their ability to make limitless Forged Iron (given the mention of "Iron Eggs"), or some other secrets of dwarven smithwork.

Now we'll never know, I guess.

Ring Styles are called that because you can learn one through proving yourself worthy of it, much like with an arm ring.

Core Styles are called that because they are anchored on something that's part of your core identity. Whether that's some special ability, some aspect of your heritage, or a cultural pillar, all that matters is that it's not something that can be easily replaced if lost. Steinarr should have a Gotlander Style, but he does not.

The relevant passage on Core/Ring styles. Which is probably really relevant to this situation.

It's a finite resource and we're already stretched thin on research avenues. We don't have to solve every mystery.

Unless Steinarr unlocked another Martial style recently, it's probably either the Varangian Way or the Golden Horn. I imagine a chain all coiled up could look like a mountain of metal, then again the weight of responsibility of a Varangian could be construed as pressing down.

From what IF said it's not one Steinarr actually had, or even qualified for, it's one he was a 'carrier' for but did not have himself.
