what do you think about the rest of stuff? telling our retainers(and probably family) about the tournament and inviting Lidrun to come?

I'm not sure we've decided on the tournament, honestly. And not sure we have time to set up a good one this year. Like, if we're going on a trading voyage (which would be next turn, by the way), we don't have time for a tournament, though if we aren't we might. I think we were gonna try and ask about that at Yule?

Considering the tournament was my idea, i would like to see it happen. But if we do it we need to do it well.

Maybe late Spring or Summer are better moments for the tournament, so we have a couple of turns to organize it.

If we're doing it this year, I think we're doing it Summer 3. And I think we're probably doing it at some point, the question is whether we're doing it this year or not, more than anything.

well sure. we did already did an expedition, and a tournament will both give us a sort of event we didn't have yet, be really cool, and might give us a good deal of Orthstirr. and as a plus we can get a better perspective on power levels in the valley and it might help a bit in preparing for the war

those are my main arguements for it, but of course should probably hear everyone out

oh for sure. I suggested announcing it to our men and to Lidrun. the first so they prepare and train, and the latter so she stays around for it

and about organizing it @Imperial Fister I asked a question before about how many actions would hosting a tournament take at base, would really love an answer since it could matter a lot to the threat if its like, 1-2 actions, several actions, or like dedicating most of the season to preparing

I think we want to do it, the question is sort of whether we want to do it this year specifically...a trading voyage instead also seems possible, depending on circumstances. Or even neither this year if neither looks viable. I do think trying to do both in one year is biting off a bit more than we can chew all things considered, at least this year.

I'll say that, for every action you devote to it—to a maximum of 12 actions—it reaches higher levels of quality

Also, I'm going to need someone to roll 3d6 with the reason being intensity

Sweet. That pegs it as either next year or the year after, I think. Not a bad thing, but we want a high quality tournament if we're throwing one.

Could we replace any of the 12 actions with sufficient use of Work Dice? That wouldn't replace most of them (since they'd involve organizing and publicity and so on), but ones for actually building an arena/setting up a field and other physical infrastructure seem like we could do them with those?

don't we wanna go to Vestfold next year? it seems like too much for 1 year to have both a tournament and that massive adventure

There's an argument to be made to put off Vestfold a year or two. We don't want to put it off forever, but a bit more time to train us up more, take a few trips to Wessex to establish a pattern, and so on, might well be worth it.

Alternatively, going to Vestfold next year, then doing a tournament the year after is not an unreasonable plan all things considered. I doubt the war starts the instant we get back from Vestfold, after all.

we also have a skald around this year, we might not have it next year. and a skald might boost both quality in general and orthstirr gain, possibly considerably

She's gonna be in Jurgby. So we only sorta have her...but we interest her and invite her in a year or two she might well show. Also, I'm dubious that makes up for a higher quality tournament. A higher quality tournament seems likely to attract multiple skalds, potentially.

Time Stands Still
One moment, your meditations go as normal.

The next, they don't.

You breath in and dancing leaves freeze in freefall. Wisps of time wrap around your limbs as the grass refuses to move. Your crimson flame-clad limbs guide you to your feet as you glance around the clearing, at the frozen faces of your men. Vagn in mid-yawn, Abjorn ready to leap in at a moment's notice, Stigmar with his back to a tree and his shield resting against his knee.

You wave your hand in front of your husband's face, but there's no response.

Your lungs burn like fire, so you release hold of the trapped breath and time returns from its inversion.

This... Could be powerful.

As your men flail about in shock and surprise at your sudden movement, you amend that statement.

This is powerful.

(Time Stands Still (Cost 1 Aspect): A Finale of ??? that inverts the Standstill Shroud that surrounds all bearers of the Standstill hugareida. At Refined, you get two free actions. This increases by one with every level of refinement.)

It is shockingly difficult to practice Firestorm, which you soon found out as Dorri told you off while Logi and Steinarr cleaned up the mess you left with Unleash Inferno.

Still, you've gotten a bit more practice in!

Planting and growing a Falling Moss seed (9 Odr)
The Falling Moss takes root and spreads quickly with every drop of odr added. As the moss swallows up the last ounce of power, it provides clumps of moss for you to take.

Frisian Cultivation
Frisian Cultivators are, in short, worthwhile opponents on the battlefield. However, they often struggle to deal with singularly powerful individuals as, thanks to having spreading out their cultivation potential, they lack any sort of truly powerful champions. They are best fought by letting champions do their work and being wise to the conditions.

Alloying stuff
Alloying Chop and Stoker State allows you to generate strength with the relevant attacks.

You feel your muscles clench immobile as Standstill and your Hamr Alloy together.

Given the previous experiment's results, you get the feeling that Alloying Frenzy and Standstill together may result in unfortunate occurrences.

Investigating magical side of Knightly Armor
"So..." Sten trails off, "I don't know Latin, do you?"

You shrug. You don't know Latin, nor does anyone you know, either.

This is a problem.

Bjorney... Seems like he's more aware of his surroundings. When you speak, it's like he's listing to your words rather then the tone, as is often the status quo in regards with animals.

The year, by the reckoning of the followers of Christ, is 8979 AD and you, Halla Skyfire, have just turned twenty-one. You are covered in sweat as newborn voices fill your ears with their crying. One voice was expected.

The other wasn't.

Two children, near-identical twins save for one small detail—one is a boy, the other a girl. Their souls feel nearly the exact same, so no wonder you didn't notice! They even have the exact same... full moon-like eyes...

Weird.

Regardless, they'll both need a name of their own eventually.

So, what do you name them?

Crafting is in a spoiler at the bottom. Socializing with the friends
The Yuletide party is, as it often tends to be, a rather jolly affair. Cheeks shine red from drink and cheer as voices join together in song and general merry-making. Marriage offers are announced, the occasional bit of bloodshed stains the little remaining snow, and sacrifices are burned and/or eaten—depending on the specifics of the sacrifice.

While you invited about a dozen families, word swiftly spread that you were holding a feast for Yule and soon all forty-or-so of the families under the aegis of Asvir find themselves under your care.

You barely have time to talk to anyone, let alone the people you want most to be with! Gifts are exchanged, yet you struggle to find opportunities to add your heartfelt feelings—so crowded with people the feasting clearing is.

However, you wind up with three windows of opportunity during the festivities. Who do you decide to spend them with?
[ ] Lidrun, who hasn't stopped staring at you since she arrived
[ ] Asva, who clearly wants to talk to you
[ ] Stigmar, who is off by himself after a rather sour discussion with a woman
[ ] Trausti, who is looking for Tryggr, who disappeared with a woman on his arm
[ ] Dorri Rattlespear, who arrived with an offer for you

AN: This was stupidly difficult to get out for no good reason. I got stuck at Yule for, like, an hour-and-a-half before I managed to make any progress.

I have some mixed news. I recently got a second job, which, unfortunately, will be cutting into my free time significantly. As such, my update rate will be rather sporadic until the end of the year. There very likely won't be an update tomorrow, Friday, or Saturday. I'll try to keep you folks in on the loop.

No moratorium, this'll be the only update for today as I am rather mentally exhausted, sorry.

I'm thinking these 3 for a chat

IF, does the 6th kid that came out count as the 6th kid for this marriage of the 9, or does they both count as the 5th kid for the max kids we can have?

Twins! That's...interesting. Very interesting.

We'll need to redo the helmets for Tryggr and Trausti...I dunno about the axe, a third try seems maybe warranted at some point, but it matters a bit less with weapons...maybe this is fate?

I don't want to distract Trausti from his mission. And we definitely need to talk to Asva and Lidrun. I'm more ambivalent on the other option...Stigmar and Dorri both seem legit. I slightly lean Stigmar.

And I'm not at all sure on names...lemme look around a bit.
