Presumably we are preparing the poem and then put it on the stone, so what would be the danger with Frenzy that isn't fixed by 'don't have a weapon while doing it, keep a calm charge at hand for emergencies' as worstcase preparation?

We go into some kind of... poetic trance, perhaps? Which honestly feels pretty close to overdosing on the mead of poetry, which is connected to Odr...

I don't know, I don't think it's hugely risky, but I'm also fine making the poem whilst lucid instead.

Well, we also need a spotter to make sure we don't go into some sort of fevered trance and not eat or drink, but the fact we're doing the actual composing outside our soulscape is fair enough. We probably do want to try sometime...upon reflection I do think we wait until we're not pregnant for that, though.

We should try to figure out how to create twists sooner or later.
In case anyone else is curious what the wording was when we invested Odr into a Twist:
Puncture
Odr flows through your soul as you let it sink into your imagination, into your understanding of the world.

Words on a story unfurl like blooming flowers as your breath hitches and your vision darkens.

Twisting your words, twisting the myth.

Changing the story.

Through the alteration of words, of how they flow together, of the meaning behind them, you too can have a say in how the story plays out.

You blink as your consciousness returns to you and the world suddenly seems to sparkle in your vision. Limitless possibilities tempered with yet unknown rules.

'Welcome back to the land of the conscious. It's been an hour since you left.'

(You have gained the ability to create Twists, though you don't know how to do such a thing yet.)

[X] Eat it yourself!

[X] Plan We Are Related To Santa

We should totaly ask the Troll to pay the rent to live on our land, i don't care if it works or not. I just want to see everyone else reaction when we do.

Agreed entirely...any idea how? We know it probably involves Odr, but beyond that we're clueless.
Write a poem/tell a story so hard life gives in and accepts our pov?

We could try investing a mote of Odr into a twist again and see what happens, if we get any hints.

Or we could try investing Odr into a story/poem involving a suitable Story structure.
(raises the question how we'd invest Odr into a conceptual/non-material item like a poem)

I don't think this works...all the stories we heard from the Skald that resulted in Twists were seemingly true. I think the story needs to be true in order to serve as the structure for a Twist.

Rewriting and retelling an important event such that the result is still true, but is expressed differently.

This seems more likely to be correct, based on what we've seen, but I doubt this alone does it. I think maybe we need an important muna, then to write a poem/story about it and to infuse the combination with Odr? Something like that anyway.

I don't think a Muna is strictly needed.

Munas are personal things and highly subjective, they're like Dao-heart stuff.

We definitely start out by talking. I dunno if we're actually okay with having a troll living nearby, but we start with a conversation.

I mean, first we would need to learn more abaout Trolls in general. Are they all 100% mustache twirling chaotic evil?

Because after dealing with the dwarfs, my standards for tollerating monsters have risen quite a lot.

I can't personaly justify killing Trolls on sight if we can be allies with the midget war criminals. It feels incredibly hypocritical.

All the Twists the skald offered were clearly based on a Muna from someone. It's possible one isn't strictly necessary, but I'd bet they are, and I'd bet even more that they make Twist creation a lot easier even if they aren't needed.

Trolls are very stupid as a rule and view humans primarily as food. They also don't usually keep deals very well and have low self control. I'm potentially fine with treating this as an eviction plus demands for back rent in the form of info rather than just killing the Troll out of hand, but having a Troll living on our land is a bit too risky for me barring a really weird situation.

Dwarves aren't necessarily nicer, but they're smarter, less prone to acting on whims, and keep to their deals. We'd evict unfriendly dwarves just as readily if not more so, and I'm pretty sure Trolls aren't ever gonna be friendly. If this one turns out to be an exception, well, we'll find that out talking to them, won't we?

Fair enough, i suppose.

I am just really interested in all the non-human creatures and how to deal with them. I mean, there is a Pact or Oath of some sorts made with the dwarfs, who says we can't do something similar with Trolls and Swartalfs?

I still think the Trolltalker kenning would have been more useful long term than the +1 Hamingja we took.

I'll go ahead and point out that the troll doesn't actually live on your land. I'm not really sure where this idea came from, but it's an easy mistake to make from a simple misread.

I tell you this because Halla would not make that mistake.

Really? I trought our Fylgja was exploring our land when it found the cave? I don't remember it was specified were exactly the cave was beside "the hills".

--[X] Do not break through to the Second Realm until after Yule. When we do, call in the Dwarven Favor to prepare a battlefield and make sure we have all our retainers (and Abjorn) with us. Warn them we don't know what will happen here, but it could be violent, depending.
Sorry if this is annoying but could you please specify that we're doing it during the day in case a breakthrough calls Trolls like disclosure does?

I believe I did specify.
Huh. Interesting. How close is it? Either way that'll definitely color the talk...we still do want to have that talk either way, though.
Easily close enough to wander onto your property without much work.

Further notes on trolls;

Calling something/someone a 'troll' can be a way to describe something decidedly *not* human that chose to be that way. Using 'Troll' as a title (the only time you'll see it capitalized in-story, aside from at the beginning of sentences) confers the understanding that this person has gone beyond human norm in a sort of stupidly stubborn, troll-like fashion.

All trolls are Trolls, but not all Trolls are trolls.

To make matters worse, some trolls aren't trolls either. Some are thurs—a kind of troll-like creature that are hyper-aggressive and don't turn to stone in the sunlight. Modern scientists theorize that perhaps most recorded troll attacks were actually caused by thurs, as the two species look superficially similar.

They also might be a skogtroll, a type of creature that turns into a tree during day and a troll-like creature at night. Generally placid—unless you damage wood in any way in their sight, in which case they reveal the power earned as a result of sacrificing the day away. As they aren't very intelligent, they may believe that you've just killed a family member if they see you chopping down a tree.

I just checked the character sheet, and i have some questions.

When will we plant the new seeds in our Soulscape? Can we add it to the Plan this turn?

And what will we do with Moonless Night Pelt? Will we add it to our version of Knightly Armour or are we keeping it for something else?

We also have another Fine Silver Armband, what do we do with it? We write some runes on it? Maybe give it to Abjorn?

Also, the next Training Item we make should be a Drinking Horn like the one we made for Aki. That was really useful.

I added planting one of them this turn a bit ago. We only have the Odr to grow one so no point in planting the others as of yet, IMO.

Not necessarily Knightly Armor, but definitely Plate Armor of some sort is the plan, yeah.

The plan has always been to add Runes to increase our strength on it. It just kept getting delayed. We should actually have time within the next few turns.

Also, the next Training Item we make should be a Drinking Horn like the one we made for Aki. That was really useful.

It's useful specifically when planning on having a kid. Odds are we'll see Aki and be trying to recruit him to come back with us before we need that again. We may make one anyway, but it's not a super high priority.

Anyway, I thought we needed a prototype of our Plate design before we can start cracking at the metaphysical parts?
