I want to know this man's name!

Honestly feels poor form to not respect him enough for that. (also we might get his kenning, which could help us)

I'm not entirely convinced that's enough, tbh. We have five high-powered cultivators here. You don't necessarily need explosives to collapse the cave when your blows shake the earth...

Edit: We could also task Gabriel with dragging people out.

There are limits to what we can do if this guy doesn't care, and he sure doesn't seem to.

I'm down for telling Gabriel and the rest to get Stigmar and our prisoners out, though. That seems reasonable to me.

It's more that the Cave will collapse if anyone's dumbfool enough to start slinging around further high impact attacks. But it won't fall down right this second.

Probably.

That aside, @Imperial Fister , do Folded attacks resolve faster than just using them one after another? I'm trying to work out the best way to maximize our damage output in the smallest window possible here.

Try to take the fight otuside, while pulling out the bodies of the living and the dead. If he's unwilling to leave the cave, then pull out the bodies of the living and the dead, play for time, and once you have everyone out, throw kindle spinners at him until rocks fall and he dies.

Problem is that we can't not use high-impact attacks, because he's got a total of 3 points of damage resistance on everything that hits him. Low-impact attacks won't do anything.

Also, this is the ground of his choosing. It's entirely possible that he has some way to survive the collapse and will himself set it off... or will do so as a final "fuck you" if it looks like we're going to win.

Problemis that we can't *not* use high-impact attacks, because he's got a total of 3 points of damage resistance on everything that hits him. Low-impact attacks wont' *do* anything.

Kindle-Spinners are relatively low impact, it's just a one-shot flamethrower, and you also have to keep in mind that Abjorn hit for Ten Fucking Damage in one go and rolled almost 200 on the attack, that three of it disappeared for various reasons, but I don't think normal attacks will do the same.

They do resolve quicker. At about 1.5x-ish speed.

Nice.

I think then that we'll want to Fold our Kindle-Spinner spam together @DeadmanwalkingXI . Threefold Kindle-Spinners boosted by the Berry and a Full Odr Boost would completely negate his Damage Resistance and do Pure Damage to him--not to mention we'll pierce through his armor very quickly in the process as well since each of those Kindle-Spinners are going to be doing 6 damage to Armor.

Maybe Fourfold if we want to get spicy. But I think Threefold is the most we can squeeze into this opening.

@Imperial Fister how powerful would an attack have to be to damage the cave? Are there rough guidelines as to damage or orthstirr/odr?
Sten is very angry and is struggling to listen to direction. He's planning on doing something that takes a long time to prepare.

Because, uh, Sten is charging up a Special Beam Cannon, apparently. And is too angry to be rational about a cave-in risk if we don't warn him.

Two points of that disappeared from straight-up shapeshifting, out of 3 points of damage that hit his skin. That's not going away.

We can't Fold Odr-boosted attacks, or at least were told it's difficult. I think that makes them not a great choice given the damage reduction, probably. Like, we could do our damage faster but it would be much less damage.

Turning away from this guy is a death sentence, he's too dangerous. Anyone not in this fight should get out, but we can't do that quite yet.

He has 2 Damage Reduction, not 3 (at least not generally), and Kindle Spinner is all fire at close range so it shouldn't bring the cave down.

Anyway, current plan:

[X] Plan Trap, Stun, and Burn
-[X] Consume a Hearthroot Berry
-[X] Task Gabriel and the rest not in this specific fight with getting Stigmar and the two Ginat-Blooded brothers out of the cave in case of collapse
-[X] Warn Abjorn and Sten to avoid big physical attacks to avoid a cave collapse. Hopefully they listen
-[X] Stoke Saemd (+93 Orthstirr) immediately after using Inertia-Arresting Throw (or simultaneously with our Knee-Groin Trick if that looks cooler)
-[X] 58d6 Attack (all tricks)
-[X] 9d6 Defense
-[X] 0d6 Intercept
-[X] In response to his first attack use a 30d6 (w/Hugareida) Inertia-Arresting Throw to trap him in place, with its dice pool enhanced with 11 Orthstirr and its effects likewise enhanced with Odr (-17 Orthstirr/-3 Odr), followed up immediately with a 25d6 Knee-Groin Trick with its dice pool enhanced with 11 Orthstirr and its effects likewise enhanced with Odr (-12 Orthstirr/-3 Odr), and then while he is hopefully stunned hit him with a 25d6 (w/Hugareida) Threefold Kindle Spinner attack enhanced with 11 extra Orthstirr and its damage enhanced with Odr in each instance (-18 Orthstirr and -6 Odr), then three normal 14d6 (w/Hugareida) Kindle Spinner attack with 7 extra Orthstirr added into them and their damage enhanced with Odr (-9 Orthstirr/-2 Odr each) into him.
-[X] After our initial IAT, in response to any mundane attacks against us use up to 3 Reinforcedx3 Honedx3 Defenses (7d6 and -6 Orthstirr each) and use Sidestep (-2 Orthstirr) if we run out of those and our Reinforce Shield has been broken. If he attacks during our Fivefold Kindle Spinner somehow we use one 6d6 Reinforcedx4 Honedx4 defense (14d6, -8 Orthstirr). If he attacks either us or our family with a Trick Attack while IAT is not out, or any attack that looks likely to put them down (ie: they're on their last legs), use Halting Vortex to stop that attack dead (-4 Orthstirr), and if our IAT is still out and he's somehow attacking, or his attack gets through Halting Vortex use Sidestep to avoid it.
-[X] Tactics – Gabriel gets the wounded and captured out of the cave, Abjorn and Halla move to cover Sten, when the Captain goes for an attack on anyone, have Halla feint Halting Vortex, but instead use IAT to trap him in place, following up with Knee-Groin Trick and then unleashing our full burn chain in the subsequent opening, beginning with the Threefold Kindle Spinner.

I think this is the plan. It's maybe a tad heavy on the Odr expenditure, but on the other hand, the cave is collapsing, so finishing this quick is good. I could theoretically add more dice to these things, but honestly this seems fine? Maybe even overkill on the Kindle Spinners if he's actually gonna be stunned for them...he probably won't be for all of them, though.

EDIT: Edited in a Fivefold Threefold Attack, as well as a defense to be used while we're doing it just in case...the defense in question should work since we can assign dice freely due to Punching Up even to non-Trick effects. This is potentially even heavier on the Odr, but only if the Fivefold Attack doesn't work.

Also added warning Abjorn and Sten about the cave collapse issue.

I think he's saying we can't fold the Odr expense. We can still spend Odr on each specific attack in a Fold, right @Imperial Fister ?

Also, I want to re-write the tactics you've got there Deadman, just a sec.

He has 2 Damage Reduction, not 3, and Kindle Spinner is all fire at close range, so it shouldn't bring the cave down.
Read again. It reduced by 1 (for unknown reasons) before it hit his armor, and then by another two before it hit his skin.

Turning away from this guy is a death sentence, he's too dangerous. Anyone not in this fight should get out, but we can't do that quite yet.
Not saying turn our back on him, but we could start by just asking. "Hey - this cave is about to collapse. Do you mind if we get out all of the incapacitated and also ourselves, and finish the fight outside?"

Right, I'm aware of that, but I'm skeptical that 1 applies universally.

Physical attacks that deal lots of damage. Stuff like Leaping-Cleave would do it, but Power-Chop not so much.

I'll add a note telling Abjorn and Sten to be careful of the cave.

Hmmm. That's probably worth it, then, if we do it while he's stunned. Lemme fiddle around a bit.

@DeadmanwalkingXI

Here's the rewritten Tactics.

-[X] Tactics – Gabriel gets the wounded and captured out of the cave, Abjorn and Halla move to cover Sten, when the Captain goes for an attack on anyone, have Halla feint Halting Vortex, but instead use IAT to trap him in place, following up with Knee-Groin Trick and then unleashing our full burn chain in the subsequent opening.

I think IAT has a wide enough area of effect now that it can pin a significant portion of the target's body, is that right @Imperial Fister?

As for you Deadman, once we get the stun, we do a threefold Folded Kindle Spinner--I think we can squeeze that into the opening, then we try to follow up with an unfolded so we at least have our defenses back when it goes. I feel we can squeeze a Threefold Kindle-Spinner into the opening for around 3 packs of 6-7 damage, but a fourth feels risky, and we'll want our defenses back for that.

Oh yeah, are we Honing the Knee-Groin Trick? Or Reinforcing it? Whatever applies? We might need to specify to avoid confusion.

Further thonks, if we're hoping to delete this fucker in this round--or at least fuck him up to a level that he's going to be on death's door, we shouldn't be sparing with our Orthstirr--this is the final encounter, so we should throw as many dice at the problem as we can afford--especially for keystone moves.

Like, double our dice pool for IAT and Knee-Groin Trick, that kind of thing, since those are major keystones of our plan.

I've already got Gabriel covered in another section, but sure.

I was thinking (and added) Fivefold (and added a bit of a contingency plan in terms of defenses there). Threefold would be less risky, though, admittedly.

So changed to threefold from fivefold. Should still mess him up if it works. Also, added stoking Saemd, since our Orthstirr is gonna take a serious hit this turn, I think.

Hmm, okay, sure, but if we're going for a hail mary, we should pay the price to hopefully lock it in. Could you pump the main attacks up significantly more? Like, I don't know, 40 dice on IAT and Knee-Groin? And since the Folds duplicate our initial investment, we should absolutely dump a similar amount into the Kindle Spinner Spam. (So like, 40 dice per major keystone of the Plan, at an extra--I dunno, 60 Orthstirr? It's a lot, but if it means clinching this...)

We have a wealth of Orthstirr and if we're trying to mop this up, there's no reason to hold back anymore. Fivefold-Folded Kindle-Spinner rolling 40 dice should keep hitting him even if he recovers.

I also think the Saemd Stoking should only come as we're about to start unleashing Sicko Mode on him. But that's just narrative convienence.

I did drop it to Threefold, I think you're probably right about the risks. And I'm willing to raise it some, but I don't think gambling everything on winning this round is right. Spending for it, sure, but the highest roll this guy has ever gotten was a 69, and that only with his armor, and most of his rolls were more in the 40s to 50s...20d6 (and an average of 70) is already a lot vs. this guy. I can up it to, like, 25d6, certainly, but going above that seems like just wasting the Orthstirr.

Mmm, 30 then? An extra 30 Orthstirr to leave as little to chance as possible?

I upped them each to to 25d6, I sincerely think that's enough, especially given how much this plan relies on surprise...like, if this guy is throwing even 20d6 to oppose any of those, something has gone terribly wrong already given his previous actions (and how they worked out...remember, last turn he was winning with his 40s and 50s, why would he suddenly feel the need to invest in rolling twice as high?). The odds are that the Threefold Kindle Spinner will wind up going against a defense of 0, so this is already, like, spending at least 40 Orthstirr on a contingency for a contingency for a contingency.
