What does each relationship rank equal? Like, we have someone listed as our enemy, yet we actually had a better relationship with them than we did Drifa for a while. Right now, they're at the same rank. We apparently don't get along with our mother, but our relationship is at a 6, so like... what is a 3?

Yeah, I don't know if that was him spotting Hallr in some way or realizing the implications of her not having a title along with her young age and the relative shortness of her training. Like, she's just some girl and she can still kick his ass.
The streak of pink, I think, heavily indicates the latter. Shame and embarassment from losing to a (from his perspective) novice with only three years of training, and to a girl no less. And realizing that vikings are scary if a three year novice could pretty definitively best a 7th year Squire for the horror. If he had seen Hallr, I feel like he would've turned white, not pink.

Its kind of sad i miss most of the discusion and battle planning due to time zone fuckery....
Okay, cool, so Focus is a defensive buff that can be broken by attacking through it (probably among other things). Interesting.
Probably not just a defensive one... but yeah, i see you also agreed later on on the general buff stuff.
Yeah, the vibe I get is that Steinarr is in fact, scary as hell, even by Norse standards. He's not anywhere near Hallr's level...but then very few people are so that's not saying much. I think he's by far the scariest living person we've actually met, though.

Among other things, Halla just made it clear that she's only been combat-training for about three years, and Gabriel has to know that vikings get more dangerous as they get older.
I mean, he did jump from home to Halfdan's farm, impacting as a fiery meteor...
And Halla is still BEFORE the first raid...
He stands frozen, still shaking your hand. He seems a little bit lost as he looks at you.

...Maybe he doesn't know how to respond to that either?

You cough and he flinches. He quickly releases your hand and steps away, a light streak of pink on his face. There's a lot of horror in his eyes, but what is there to be horrified about?

You look over your shoulder, but find nothing standing behind you.

...Weird.

You ignore Blackhand's laughter as you collect the fallen sword and make your way home. After getting cleaned up, of course!
oh no... Halla is a heart taker... worse, she is dense about it...
Wait... is Halla a Harem Protagonist???
It's this (plus 2 extra dice in Hamr Training, for 6 total, since we're getting extra training dice):

One thing to keep clear is that Focus isn't orthstirr's counterpart. I don't think that it's being confused for Christian Cultivation's Power, but I just want to make that clear.
If its not orthstirr's counterpart, that means there is a chance to learn it! :V

Could we ask questions from both Blackhand and Steinar?
Like, Blackhand about Focus, if he heard any Norseman using it.
And talk with Steinar about how our eyes become worse after our Fyjgla grew... He did mention someone with a Farsight Kenning when speaking of Hallr Blackhand, after all.

It's still something that you are throwing at the enemy. It's invisible, yes, but people can still sense it approaching and decide to do something about it. Whether that something is grabbing someone else and throwing them at it or simply getting out of the way.
...Now i wanna bluff people by blowing a point of Orthstirr at them in battle :V

I mean qm did tell us that our beautiful trait will become more apparent as we reach adulthood and we are almost there by norse standards.

Also, in the words of spike speigel, "Some men love a woman who can kick their ass."

The description of mom hasn't actually ever changed, and that description thus dates from when she had a 4. And the 'enemy' with a 3 is a boy who tried to kiss Halla once...his being less actively antagonistic than ones who want to kill us makes a lot of sense.

The vibe I get is that anything from 1-4 or so is someone who you have social tension with but would never actually attack you, because they see you as part of their family/community. 5 is neutral-ish and 6+ is actively liking you (with 10 being pure love of one sort or another). Negative numbers are people who are actual 'may be inclined to stab you' enemies.

Plausible. The theory that it's because he touched a pretty girl also seems believable to me. It's possible both of those are true simultaneously as well, which would be entertaining.

Probably not just a defensive one... but yeah, i see you also agreed later on on the general buff stuff.

Yeah, there are probably offensive aspects as well...I listed the defense because it's the part we know for certain.

Yep. Steinarr is a scary dude.

Definitely not intentionally, but she is both pretty and nice to many people, so some folks could get the wrong idea...her relationship with Abjorn is not gonna be subtle or secret though, which will hopefully help. As will Abjorn being immense and known for his violent temper.

I can add them to the next plan, though I'm skeptical we'll have time for the Scouting Trick for our eyesight before going raiding...we have a very tight schedule to get several other things up before raiding. Still, maybe worth a shot...even 3 successes would likely get us what we need.

Just asking about it doesn't make it so we learn it though, nor do i want to put dice into it before the raiding.
But its better Stainar knows about this so there isn't a problem about it in the future. We can look into the scout trick on the ship or on the raid itself.
As for the Focus thing with Blackhand, i expect he doesn't, but he is the one most versed about that kinda stuff we know, aside from Steinar...
And its kinda sad we dont use these free actions to ask about stuff....

Oh, asking about stuff is definitely added. Trying to learn the trick...maybe, depends on how we do in the upcoming turn.

Spending too much time with the exotic foreigner might make Abjorn jealous, can't have that.

HAHAHA, great chapter, and I see Halla has inherited Hallr's ability to take hearts, though her heart is only for Abjorn lol.

So, anyone know what the odds are of us getting our Hamr up to 5 this turn coming up?

Also, it looks like we're getting pretty close to getting our build up to the point where we can start hard focusing on stuff too. Of course, we start getting the Magic Gacha now too, but hey, these things happen.

I'm hyped to see how Halla's build comes together by the time she's ready to join the murderhobo brigade.

Pretty low. We're throwing 6 dice at it but that averages only 4 successes, and even on a good roll getting 8 successes (the number needed) on 6 dice is pretty unlikely.

Now, our odds of getting it to 5 before we have to fight the boss when we turn 16 are pretty good if we roll even halfway decently this coming turn and keep focusing on it, but getting all the way this turn? Not likely at all.

Hrm, how many turns do we have left? We should have enough to put our core build together at least and have everything up to a usable level.

Before we turn 16? Three including the upcoming one.

And yeah, in terms of combat we should have enough to, with a little luck, get Hamr to 5, Bash to 2, Dodge to 3, and complete the two tricks we're working on right now (though Halting Vortex is a higher priority). Glima to 2 is also possible, but more iffy since it's a slightly lower priority. That'll give us a 32 or 33 combat pool, total, which is pretty impressive, honestly. We'll also almost certainly have Good Gambeson, which is a huge benefit in a fight.

We should be able to do that while completing Imaging (on a good roll, we might also get Artcraft to 3) and getting Composure 2, Armorcraft 2, and 1s in Strategy, Weaponcraft, Labor, Management, and Scouting (we can hopefully get some of those and maybe Overland and Wildcraft to 2, but it depends on how rolls go, as does everything).

It's difficult to make hard predictions just because the dice are so swingy, but the odds favor things mostly coming together pretty well.

Very nice. Hopefully we can get some shinies out of the pod too now that we can start working at cracking it. I agree that Halting Vortex is our highest priority Trick to get Refined though. Honestly, if we could push it to Mastered, that'd be even better (And Perfected best of all), since it's going to be what lets us get away with wielding a two-hander without compromising on our defense overmuch. But pushing to Mastered and beyond is something to do after we've gotten Reinforce sorted out.

Perfected Halting Vortex is just so fucking unfair. "Yeah, have a magic force parry that only requires me to gesture in the direction of an incoming attack. This lets me wield powerful two handed weapons freely. U mad?" Before that, it at least has the problem that's it's Orthstirr hungry. (But that's fine, as it's intended as an emergency backup in the first place)

In fairness, the +8 Endurance for a Good Gambeson and ability of Reinforce Shield to be used with armor makes it less absolutely essential...but yes, it's really, really good and we want to get it to Refined if at all possible.

Once we've done that we really need two more Tricks (an eyesight enhancing Scouting trick at a minimum of Rough, and a 1 orthstirr defensive trick...nothing flashy, just something cheap that lets us invest multiple dice in a defense), which we will not realistically be able to get before we hit 16 barring absurd luck, and then we probably have enough Tricks for a long time and can start working on Mastering a couple.

Perfected Halting Vortex is just so fucking unfair. "Yeah, have a magic force parry that only requires me to gesture in the direction of an incoming attack. Perfected almost anything is unfair. And Mastered in several things is almost as bad...Mastered Contested Movement is 1 orthstirr to potentially negate every attack and hit the people who were attacking us instead, sure there's a roll, but still. Combine that with Mastered or Perfected Halting Vortex to use when it fails and things get silly and unpleasant for our foes real quick.

Good Armorcraft will be handy too, we can make our own mail!

I'm hoping we can figure out how to add at least a little plate to that too, but we'll see how the tech tree goes.

Hm.. too bad we can't buy bracers and graves, but there is hope to loot some on the raid... as well as a helmet.

Also, @DeadmanwalkingXI did you meant to add the questions for next turn? because i thought it was for this turn, but the plan doesn't have them.

Well, the questions werent included yet, so im leaving this here, just to be sure and hope for the best.
Literally the same plan, just added in the questions.

Time to see if we finally are out of Imaging Hell I guess.

Also, to see if any other cool stuff happens of course.
