Besides the currently unnamed Supreme Sorceress, it seems like Dreadbringer is the most renowned/highest ranking/dangerous Druchii, especially since his best competition, Maranith, is now impaled hole to hole in the dirt, so I feel like we might be getting close to safety, barring horrible, horrible rolls. I would assume this is the height too, since I doubt anybody more/equally infamous and skilled than Dreadbringer is gonna pop up. How strong is Dreadbringer by the way? I think someone mentioned him fighting Tyrion and Eldyra's father, but did he win that engagement, or lose while managing to escape + kill/scalp Eldyr?

Just realized:

The way the battle is going is downright awful for the Druchiis preferred MO. Chances are that the Nordland contingent consists entirely of their ablative naval forces, which means their ablative forces in general.

Maybe a single Hero tier character or two to keep them in line, which matters less because that defense is gonna be staggered to bleed the Druchii out all over Stephens lands, which the eonir are going to be very good at.

So even if they manage to retreat in good order that matters less due concentration of force on the Arks themselves.

Normally.

But the overall trend of this fight thus far has not favored the Druchii on the supercombatant layer. And with two of six observed such already dead to their 0, with the committing of their own loyal soldiers to the meat grinder of Sakalkans own still very much deadly remaining defenses? With all but one of the Dragons gone and the last one with very good cause to husband his remaining strength? That means that the Grond contingent are gonna eat a number of non fungible losses in the next phase of this fight.

And the Druchii are cocky as fuck. Meaning that they're maybe only just now barely focusing on the fight here rather than how they're going to capitalize on or exploit their inevitable victory. But the latter consideration should still dominate their thought process, hence the Sorceress being so shocked that her cheap shot failed to go through.

They want this fight done, and quickly. Because if they dont, their position is going to be absolute crap coming out of this even if they should win and their rivals back at Naggrond are going to detect the blood in the water.

Meaning that the Druchiis only way to salvage this battle going forward is to Rackham the defense, which means taking swings at Freddie until he dies in a public enough manner to brag about it afterwards and demoralize the defenders, though mostly the former.

After all, between Freddie's track record and the vouching of Khaine as a worthy sacrifice, there really shouldnt be any dispute that ganking him is a considerable achievement in it's own right, uno reversing the narrative from fucking embarrassment to worthy contest in the eyes of, at the very least, the Church of Khaine and its allies.

Because without that, theres very real odds that even should those Black Arks escape, the Sorceress and remaining Dragon Rider will get straight up couped on their journey back for showing such weakness in the Old World.

They literally have to kill Freddy at this point. Their win condition from the start was supposed to be to flex, and parading Freddie's corpse at this point is unironically the only shot they have of that left

[X] Unleash the Martyrs, and Stand at the Gates!

Meaning Freddy needs to have as much backup as possible for when they come for him very very soon.

Their entire strategy going forward will be contingent on lining up that fight on their own terms. The Grand Sorceress risking herself for that cheap shot was a stupendous show of weakness on the Druchiis part.

So if we want the Druchii to die and to die hard, we need to force them to fight through a mountain of their own dead to reach him while in the midst of his best support possible.

Our wincon is survival

The Druchiis wincon is salvaging their pride

They have no path left for that that isnt over Freddie's steaming corpse now. Every other way has been shut to them.

This is a fight for Freddys life from here on out to the very end.

[X] Unleash the Martyrs!
-[X] Release the Flagellants onto the enemy as the elites attempt to advance to reach the Final Wall of Salkalten, then let the cavalry follow behind to wreak havoc before retreating back through the gates
-[X] Focus on the enemy artillery that is now present on the battlefield
-[X] Re-task the Eonir to focusing on the flyers to support the Whitewings and Oskana+Natasha with their superior accuracy ensuring no chance of friendly fire
-[X] Stay on the walls, which carries its own dangers

I'm miffed that our Ogre Archers failed their rolls hard.

Was hoping they'll do as good as the Pulverizers first scale deployment.

The question that I am curious about is this: how are they going to deal with the wall? Previous wall they blew up with suicide bombers but they are almost out of Shackled now. Their artillery are bolt throwers so they won't do much to a stone wall. Their magic is deadlocked and I would expect our own casters would focus on the spells that threaten the walls. They don't have any other siege equipment, so what is left? Monsters? I am not sure they can punch through a wall. Scaling the walls? They would need at least ladders and even then it is insanely risky and bound to be bloody.

Maranith was a cool opponent, although I would have liked to have seen him stick around for longer, which is a shame. What can I say, I like elves and I like dragons.

Tullaris cut down Eldyr with casual ease and desecrated his corpse, causing Tyrion to fly into a berserk rage and start carving his way through the Dark Elf army towards him. Tullaris was ready to throw hands but Khaine personally intervened to tell him that his holy mission was more important, and so he slipped away in the chaos of the battle.

Their artillery are bolt throwers so they won't do much to a stone wall.
According to some sources elf bolt throwers are magically enhanced so that the bolts fly much faster and hit much harder than they should, which is why they've never needed to develop heavier artillery.

[] Focus on killing as many Druchii as possible
This needs to seriously be considered.

The Druchii leadership in play are openly risking themselves right now precisely because they're hitting their bottom line and eating into their existing power bases.

Black Arks require a lot of capital to not merely run and use, but also to maintain a grip on. That the Grand Sorceress committed herself to this play means that she valued the risk of further losses as an inferior option to putting herself on the table to get smacked.

That doesnt seem like a lot to us since Freddie has been fighting for his life from the start, but for the Druchii this was supposed to be a milk run

We're approaching their red line for Acceptable Losses a lot sooner than any of us had anticipated, meaning that even with all the mind fuckery and other ways the Druchii have to resist hits to Morale...

Morale loss is now genuinely on the table for them.

If we stack the remaining corpses like cordwood, they may legitimately start cutting and running. The only reason Caledors Banes contingent has fallen in line so quickly is because their remaining hero unit Has A Dragon.

If hed died as well I strongly suspect those remaining Dark Pegasii would be fighting each other instead of us.

It's why I'm uncertain if the dude will commit himself to this stage of the fight or not, but this is going far worse for the Druchii than we realize because we're used thinking of things in absolute terms.

While the fact that the Druchii need to think of those same considerations at all is something of a massive slap to their face at this point

I gotta tell ya, I was surprised when I learned that lizards sometimes have two dicks all sheathed up. At first I was like, yeah, its probably a cloaca, right? Cause...wings? Bird? But then I realized that, hold on, these are lizards. Sort of. So...sheathed...inside two dicks...cloaca...thing. And then I realized that if Frederick was sorta just swinging the super cutty cutty thing all up in there then...yeah, he would probably cut that stuff too. Hence two wine barrel sized hunks of two separate dragon dick plopping out onto the battlefield.

I also spent longer than I'd like frantically trying to figure out wing anatomy for birds/pterodactyls so that I could be more accurate when saying the chains wound around certain stuff.

Writing takes you strange places sometimes...

Personally I think if Eldyra was actually dead he would have cut off her head and shown that

Lol

Including some of their sorceresses and given the size of the one's hair who attacked you, their leader as well. Natasha can't fight them all on Oskana alone.

This is an honest to god disaster scenario for the Witches by the way. The Sorceresses committing to the aerial fight are ones unable to contribute to trying to overwhelm the defending spellsingers and other magical defenders down below. Natasha doesn't even need to be able to solo them all on Oskana, either. The second that Roland gets within smacking range with Durandal things are only going to get dicier for her.

Theres a very real chance that the Grand Sorceress will die here, since the last remaining Dragon Rider in the fleet might bitch out until the last second.

This wasnt supposed to happen from their perspective. It's why I cheered so hard at the lack of screening elements when the Black Arks first showed up.

The Druchii gambled and its literally on the knifes edge of a historical scale disaster for them. She either dies here. Or on the journey back. Or potentially upon returning home.

And that's if she wins.

All without knowing about the Manaan and Barak Varr reinforcing elements, meaning that even if she does manage to get Freddie here the story of this raid wont be "and then they returned triumphant from a hard fought battle"

Itll be "they overreached trying to stomp out mere humans and got themselves ganked by More Humams/Fucking Dwarves just when they thought they were safe instead"

It's no longer a matter of winning or losing for these Druchii.

It's a matter of whether or not they manage to drag us down with them. Ironically enough for both sides, neither of them can consider going all in with their available forces a win condition.

Both sides have critical and deadly battles after this to keep their eyes on.

Dunno if that's deliberate or not but great job on setting up that parallel @torroar

Seriously though, I just could not justify myself saying 'and then you slice through the propatagium and the tenopatagium the length of the root chord'. Sometimes Frederick lets loose with more sophisticated vocabulary, but it just really didn't seem appropriate for the moment. So I sorta just settled for just sorta saying cutting through the wing. Frederick knows a lotta stuff, engineering, history, architecture, fancy words, etc, but he just...probably wouldn't know those sorts of scientific classifications for certain wing anatomy. A weird bit of lacking knowledge, when he'd just say, you know, the 'front part' of the wing, and such, I guess.

And yes, Frederick, Natasha, and Kerillian are some of the filthiest living combatants on the field right now. You've got dragon blood, intestinal fluids, seminal fluid, pee, and feces splattered all over their bodies, as well as elf blood in a lesser measure. Kerillian is still a bit hyped up on the killing adrenaline, and she's a devoted huntress/waywatcher so she's much less...hoity toity about it all, but still. Kerillian and Natasha even have manticore and dark pegasi blood splattered all over them as well from their dogfighting.

They still retain the name of Torricelli, the name of their original founder years ago, and have proven themselves time and again in pitched combat. They have returned from the New World, eager to battlefields that are a little more familiar than jungles and fantastical beasts...for the most part, at least. Their banner is that of a rather salacious looking Myrmidia, her spear absolutely drenched with blood as she stalks across a road of slain scaled creatures.] [Numbers: 500 Pikes, 500 Spearmen With Shields, 1000 Crossbows, 100 Light Cavalry, 2 Warrior Priests of Myrmidia, 1 Commander Braggando]

The hand gunners deserted after some local lord pocketed their wages, and the pikes were raised by some umpteenth son of some rich noble in Averland that tried his hand at lordling in the border princes couldn't hack it and went merc. The two units fought together in one of Tilea's many wars, the lordling died somewhere along the way, and the surviving officers decided to join the companies together and changed the name. Now they are a pike and shot unit led by Captain Harl Schmit.] [Numbers: 1000 Pikemen, 500 Handgunners, 1 Captain Harl Schmit.]

The Great Wind - [Race: Human] [Origin: Araby] [Description: Fanatical light cavalry and horse archers] [Numbers: 500 Light Cavalry, 500 Horse Archers]
Just a list of our mercenaries for funsies. Now the Company of the Dragonfly and Los Espantos del Torricelli I could see explicitly mentioned as being basically wiped out, and I presume the pike mercs also got mauled, but I wonder who else went down?

Whitewings are doing fine at least.

Hmm, what's our artillery park look like now? It got gutted, but how badly? If we've lost most of the cannons and are mostly down to scorpions, I don't fancy trading bolt-thrower to bolt-thrower against Dark Elf Reapers, so I'd be for an alt plan that focuses on ratcheting up the Elfpower kills.

Hmm, would Anna use/know those terms given that IIRC she designed the Wingsuit?

I'm trying to enforce a bit of fog of war with regards to specifics due to the rapidity of ongoing events, but I can at least tell you fully that most of your Dash Cannons got pulled back successfully. Cause, you know, they're explicitly meant to be more maneuverable, quicker to move, etc. Great Cannons were prioritized overall but were harder to move, while the Bolt Throwers were largely abandoned outright having tertiary priority compared to the Dash/Great Cannons.

Hmm, would Anna use/know those terms given that IIRC she designed the Wingsuit?

Eh, she'd probably use more mechanical...well, no, might be based on wing stuff like for real birds. Huh. Yeah, she would. And then Frederick would because of engineering stuff. Hmm. No, I'll rule that he knows those terms but was sorta just thinking 'cut wing' and not precise scientific/mechanical terminology at the time.

I can hear Sadrina's internal screaming over how she has to compose that story from here.
I mean, with how Eltharin is as a language I think she already has an idea. Include a bunch of pithy lines about Caledor's Bane's "lack of masculinity" or something, which has a surface meaning of being a coward/weakling but in truth refers to the whole castration thing.

I imagine most stories in general don't actually go into all the gory details. Unless they're being written by Khainites.
