Would not the fact that the Wood Elf's being unable to keep her in the Wild Wood or trap her suggest that some human mage trying to somehow bind one of the Most powerful spirits of Athel Loren as her servant is only going to end in failure.
I can accept getting one over on this enemy but somehow turning Drycha in to our servant is a bit much.
Why are you replying to Boney arguing about the logistics of the bind option?
He's not endorsing the idea
He's been quite clear that Mathilde can try, because Drycha's a spirit
But it is explicitly
not an indicator that it's a reasonable idea
- The 'Bind' option was suggested by @pucflek here and its inclusion in the above list of options is not a statement on my part as to how reasonable an idea it may be.
With zero prep time, there's no reliable way to trap Drycha for future experimentation. Mathilde would have to give the binding a go here and now, and hope for the best.
Judging whether something is a good idea or not is the job of the voter base
It's why "try it and find out" is a recurring statement
There's no point complaining to Boney that the option is too far fetched, particularly when he wasn't even the one that came up with it
Hell she comes of as less dangerous then that no name Khrone guy we fought and makes me wonder why people where so afraid to go even near Morghur to investigate the Situation in Karak Dum if we take her out this easily. Weapon skill 7 is a lot after all. Still I can take that Kragg's sword could do a lot of damage to a lightly armored character like her because she is more about avoiding hits then tanking them so I don't think wounding like we did was impossible.
We've already gone over why Drycha put up less of a fight than expected, so you should read through that whole conversation of you're stuck on that
But I'll summarize it for you here too
Drycha ultimately just wasn't prepared and wasn't taking things seriously
Remember, last update we learned that she was just expecting to ambush the forces of a few villages, and when her scouting rolls failed she impatiently decided to go in anyway
And unfortunately for her we had spent the last 3 days gathering an actual army of the best cavalry in the world, the Kreml Guard, Boris and 3 Ice Witches
It should be very clear how much of a difference there is between what Drycha was expecting and what she got instead
If this were Athel Loren, or if Drycha had been better prepared, or if she had scouted the situation better and realized what was happening then this fight would have been a lot more complicated
And honestly?
People focus too much on how Drycha failed to gank anyone and miss stuff like this:
Right over your blade.
With inhuman speed it twists in mid-air to avoid the swing of Branulhune, and what would have been a fatal swoop turns into an ungainly tumble as it skids through mud and leaf litter. Ljiljana turns with a fistful of ice, redirecting her stream of frost at this new foe, and it is forced to skitter backwards on all fours to avoid it. Heads turn and a cry goes up as the Kreml Guard notice this unexpected intruder behind their lines.
To its credit, the being only takes a second to react to this change in circumstances, managing to leap to its feet without losing its momentum away from Ljiljana and starting to run back to the trunk that gave it form, where reality is still torn open and bleeding. Her speed is inhuman and her course was perfectly calculated despite the fact you are still invisible to mundane senses - the momentum of your swing has your blade too far away to react before she's past you. Against any ordinary swordsman, she would escape.
Drycha came flying out of a portal, and in a split second,
midair, she noticed Mathilde and saw through her sword swing despite Mathilde
being invisible and twisted out of the way
Then she landed, dodged literally all of Ljiljana's ice and then ran back around Mathilde to the portal
while Mathilde was still recovering from swinging her sword
In other words, that was all under the span of maybe a couple seconds
That was Drycha
completely failing, and she still nearly managed to avoid all consequences and run back to safety
The only reason she didn't is because after dodging surprise 1 and 2 surprise number 3 finally got her
Be honest now
If Mathilde had rolled that badly do you really think she'd have done even half as well?
