I mean, it's not impossible, but most trees die when blasted down to a stump. Being an ancient monster doesn't mean she stopped being a tree.

The thing is, she's not a tree, she's a spirit possessing some wood that was part of a tree until a few seconds ago which she used it to make herself a temporary body.

That arguably makes it worse, Aqshy hitting a disembodied spirit is going to do a lot of damage, since it can't just go "Lol Ethereal" when we're talking Battle Magic level dakka.

Dragonflask.

For eons the dragonflask has slept. Waiting for the moment where it would be the right tool for the job.
"Now?" Asks the dragonflask.
"Now." Pronounced Mathilda.

sadly we do not know how boney has decided to handle the tree spirits because we never bothered to research that yet. it could be that their definitly dead if killed or they come back as another tree, or anything in between.

She'll pull it off one day, if only because the thread is going to keep trying until it works.

Mathilde did successfully tele-cut Alberich during the previous mini-adventure:
[Alberich vs Longshanks: Martial, 61+26+25(patron)-20(heavily injured)=92 vs 31+20+5(crowd assist)+4(???)=60.]
[Mathilde interrupt: Martial, 86+23+12(???)=121.]

Seemingly heedless of his injuries, Alberich draws a bone dagger from his tunic with his remaining hand and throws himself forward, moving with sinuous and unnatural grace around the arrows loosed at him and closing on the lead Longshank, who has only his own knife to raise in defence of himself. The next few seconds might have gone very badly for the Longshanks and any in the crowd with the bravery to assist them, but Alberich's focus on the foe in front of him is all the opportunity you need. With a moment of concentration and a few muttered syllables you appear behind him, and Branulhune passes in a neat and perfect arc through Alberich's neck, sending a spray of blood over the Longshank who was heartbeats away from having his own spilled, and a head rolling across the cobblestones.

"Thank you for your assistance, gentlemen," you say to the Longshanks as you allow Branulhune to disappear once more.
Youch! She lost by 60! No wonder she got cut in half.

...then again would she even have any magical items in the first place?

The wiki says yes, but there are so many different sources of canon ... who knows.

Fang of Taalroth - Many in the realms of men believe this powerful dampener was once carried by the God of Nature, Taal himself.

It might be a Total War only thing, so I'm leaning towards it's probably not a thing. Be very cool if it was though, I'd love to swing by the Taalite's and be like "here's this thing that you're god used to carry around."

....

Though, even if it is canon to this quest ... Drycha might not be carrying it around? Seems to be vital to the plan to free Coeddil and Drycha might not be willing to risk that.

This seems like the best way to get a confirmed kill to me, but I wouldnt mind making her into BBQ either.

Because I think people are literally going to cry if we don't use it here. A big battle magic tier aoe attack. A fire attack against wood. With boney specifically saying both, that we have time and we are not going to hit anyone else. Also against an opponent against whom using the shiny new spell won't feel frivolous. If we do not use it now it is going to be a meme and every time the thread votes, they are going to vote against it just for the kick of it.

You know, I wonder if Drycha's still going on about that elf-puppet, dwarf-puppet thing. Given all the spellcasters present are women, she might think she's facing a bunch of damsels.
