My point? I thank The focus on the gold collage is ignoring that we don't actually know the kid enough to know what group would actually be attractive to her.
And yet, as votes stands, the Gold College
is possibly going to creep into Mathilde's recommendations, it's got a very strong lead over Jade, and I'm curious to know why.
People are already profiling Eike in this
thread, and I suspect it's going to creep into how Mathilde sees Eike. The discourse about Eike and how most of her life has been built on tests, and the possibility Eike
thought she was being tested throughout this visit? I suspect if there is any in-narrative truth to this, Mathilde would pick this up. The possibility Eike
fears abandonment if she fails? I suspect this hypothesis would be in Mathilde's mind as something to investigate, whatever her recommendations is. It won't surprise me if there's truth to this analysis, it's definitely going to color Eike's choices, and I think as it stands, Mathilde is likely to make it clear to Eike that should she choose Grey, Mathilde would
take her in, in some fashion. This definitely will count for something, if the fear of abandonment is true.
Of course, you could say stop profiling Eike, we have too little data right now, but I suspect we do have enough hints to form a hypothesis that may or may not be disproven if Mathilde further interacts with Eike - and I suspect Kazrik and Panoramia each have their own read on Eike, which may or may not sync with either the thread's or Mathilde's own readings. Eike has a personality, and we do have some pieces of the puzzle, and at stake in this debate is in part this incomplete profile, which nevertheless is present from clues in the narrative, and influential. You are making an argument for uncertainty, but I don't think Eike is necessarily a
complete black box, there's been quite a few threads emerging.
On the other hand, note how warmly Kazrik took Eike in for a few days, to experience life within the structures of a Dawi Clan-hall. I suspect this leaves a very, very
deep impact on Eike, considering her family history - it might
well be one of the best times in her life so far
. The Communitarian nature of Dawi and I suspect Halfling society is very, very striking. It's also quite suggestive that Eike
made such a favorable impression in her time with Kazrik, and I'm now very, very interested to find out Kazrik's assessment of Eike. I
think it's going to be eye opening.
We've already told Panoramia that Eike has Magesight, and I suspect if we tell Panoramia the votes as it stands regarding our response, including the problem that Eike
doesn't remotely have the information right now to make a meaningful decision about the Orders (which we should, assume basic, competency, Mathilde is well aware of), it won't surprise me she'd likely frame any answers to questions Eike has about the Jades a certain way.
Finally, I need to caution -
most of us see Eike as a child. Mathilde has decided
to treat Eike like an adult. I suspect this divergence in perception will lead to some surprising outcomes for much of the thread. In the model of Eike as a child, I doubt Mathilde would break the news to Eike before talking to Wilhemina, but if Mathilde treats Eike as an adult, she might well, given the rationales behind of letting Eike decide, break the news to Eike
before the talk with Wilhemina. Especially if the Gold College is on the table.
